Customer Service Disaster at Greek Theatre \r My husband who is a MD purchased 6 VIP tickets for Jackson 5 concert. One of our friend was running late to the event.I had to go outside and meet him in order to give him his ticket and parking permit. I was held outside for the rest of the concert. The obnoxious like"" security"" people would not let me get back to my 3 kids and the rest of my family. I have waited for this concert all my life.We have payed a lots of money for the tickets ,and i was treated like no human being can even imagine. They didn't care about my kids safety, they didnt care about me. The Greek Theater doesn't deserve clients like us ,and also doesn't deserve fantastic performers like Jackson 5. I would like to receive apology from Greek Theater for unacceptable treatment for the $ 1050.00 i spend the rest of the night outside , all i want to do is cry. Please support me in this effort to change this awful people behavior. I don't want to see someone else go through this. \r \r Marina Escoffery \r Mission Viejo CA more

Terrible Experience & Poor Management Response. 9/20/2011

I am a regular customer of all local music venus as live music is an important part of my life. I work hard to afford to attend multiple shows per year including the KCRW World Music series at the Hollywood Bowl and The Decemberists show that I attended at The Greek just a couple of weeks ago. The other night was my second visit to The Greek Theater this summer alone (not including my multiple visits over the past several years, dating back to Jimmy Page and The Black Crows) and it will be my last due to how a horrible situation was handled by your security & on-site Police. This would have been my third time seeing Thievery Corporation as I am a big fan. I arrived at our seats with my girlfriend and enjoyed the opening act, excited for the headliner. A group of six (two women and four men) crowded into only four seats, were behaving belligerently to the point that myself, my girlfriend and others around were unable to enjoy the show. I politely asked the man closest to me to ""please save the conversation for after the show"" His response was aggressive to the point that one of his friends pulled him aside and stood between us. This is when the taunting, antagonizing, and shoulder nudges began followed by one of the men spitting in my face as he said ""I am going to fuc**ng kill you you stupid mother fu**ing piece of sh*t! You hit my brother!"" I responded immediately as others behind affirmed, that I dod not lay a hand on anyone, and that he needed to take a step away. Meanwhile, my girlfriend, scared to death that I was being ganged up on by four intoxicated grown men, returned with security, who did nothing but relocate the two of us to seats in the next section. Not only was the guard aware that there were six people in four seats, but he totally disregarded the threatening, belligerent behavior of the four men who assaulted me. I explained to the guard that my girlfriend was scared and our night had been ruined, and expressed to him that I wished to press charges, and receive a refund for our tickets. He said ""you realize that this is going to be a big deal and require the police and a bunch of paperwork, right?"" At this point we were so upset that the night was ruined, and that nothing was done about the aggressive men that caused the scene, that I insisted that the police were involved. The police were equally as disappointing as security, by letting me know that if the 4 aggressive men that assaulted me claimed that I touched one of them, that I would be the one to go to jail, while mentioning how much paperwork would be involved, yet again. The officers totally dismissed the behavior of the belligerent men. One of the officers thought the situation was funny and started making cartoon references while laughing with other men in uniform. It just seemed like every effort was made to dismiss my concerns and avoid having to handle the situation. I decided to let it go for the night and wait for management to come to give me my refund. I never received a refund, and my concerns were never addressed. I will certainly book live shows at other venues from now on. more

Every Concert should come through here! 12/1/2008

In my opinion, The Greek should have been rated # 1 in the Best Of! The forest backdrop of Griffith Park is GORGEOUS, the wonderful ambiance reminds me why I love living in a state where we can have outdoor concerts 365 days/year! The theater itself is small so even the worst seat in the house is still pretty close to the stage. And yeah, the stacked parking isn't great, but it's NOTHING compared to H'Wood Bowl stacked parking (And hey, this is LA, haven't we endured worse for parking?) \r I wish more artists would come to the Greek, it's truly an awesome experience! more

Poor food choices! 8/27/2007

My complaint is about the food. I recommend ordering one of the three food baskets a couple of days before the show you're going to see since the food choices at the Greek are not the best and they are relatively expensive. I've gone at least two times where the food was at best, average...I recently went to the UB-40/English Beat/Elan concert and my husband's bagel was not fresh, the chicken ""tenders"" were oversalted, as were the french fries. After spending so much money you'd think they'd bother to use the best, why not Nathan's hot dogs or something with some class?!!! \r \r Other than that I pretty much enjoyed the concert, the bathrooms are always clean and there are enough of them. We didn't even have a problem with leaving out of the stacked parking this time! Pros: Atmosphere, Sound quality, visuals Cons: Food selection, quality, parking more

Sweet venue! 11/21/2006

It was a chilly night but we made do for the Open Season premiere. There was ample parking and the sound quality was terrific! I'd love to come back and watch some concerts here. more

great outdoor theatre 11/20/2006

I've seen many shows here, but I'd suggest getting tickets extra early since the theatre seems to go as far as the eye can see. Not as far as the Bowl, of course, but still a pretty big venue. Traffic can be a hassle afterwards since everyone is trying to go down the same road, so be prepared to wait. more

Smaller than the Hollywood Bowl and with more bathrooms 11/18/2006

The Greek Theatre's charm is that it is a relatively small and intimate venue, while still having the benefits of being and outside amphitheater. I've sat every where from the very top aisle to right by the stage and in either place, I have always felt that I was able to have a great experience. Pros: seating, bathrooms, shows Cons: a nightmare of stacked parking more

Amazing 3/16/2005

The Greek has amazing acoustics and is the one of the most beautiful places to see a show in Los Angeles. When its warm at night seeing a show there feels like summer camp, and they often get amazing acts to play there. I would try to buy tickets early because you can end up sitting pretty far away from the stage. And the parking is horrible because you get like quadruple parked and it takes forever to leave the dirt parking lot...but it is all definetly worth it. Pros: Outdoors, Great bands Cons: Parking! more

the sh*t!! 11/4/2002

Great venue. We see a concert a week and have lived in such places as SAn FRancisco, NYC, Denver and Chicago. The Greek has a great feeling like your in the middle of the woods. Awesome more

greek freak 7/24/2002

I saw Radiohead at the greek and it was such a good time!!!!! Maybe im partial cause Radiohead is soooooooo good...but it sounded great...cool people were everywhere!! We all had a clear view of the stage and the stars. Much recommended. Pros: amazing more

Nearly perfect but pack a lunch 7/23/2002

Excellent venue to see a concert. Outside, nestled in the hills and trees underneath the stars... but at a minimum, pack some drinks and snacks because getting out of the parking lot after the show can take a while. Pros: Romantic, Beautiful, Quaint Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking more

Starlight and music 5/15/2002

Sitting under the stars at the Greek can make any band or artist sounds better. Just about any seat offers a clear view of the stage, and the sound is usually top-notch. more

Hollywood Bowl Lite 5/13/2002

The Greek in Griffith Park is smaller and less impressive than the landmark Hollywood Bowl, but a show here can be just as enjoyable. The talent that plays is usually top-notch (I saw k.d. lang and Tony Bennett, Erykah Badu and Musiq, Jill Scott, and Nina Simone at the Greek in summer 2001), and almost every seat is a good one. There's something really spectacular about live music outdoors on a warm L.A. night, and performers seem to love it as much as the crowds. Save yourself some trouble and park outside Griffith park, off of N. Hillhurst Avenue south of Los Feliz Boulevard, then walk to the venue; it's a pretty stroll and a great way to avoid the parking mess. Pros: Great shows, Beautiful setting Cons: Parking more
