Mamma Mia! Amo questo ristorante! 1/27/2012

First of all, I love Italians. They're warm, passionate and gracious...just like Mezza Luna. My wife, friends and family have eaten there for years...you could eat there everyday, twice a day even...say that for most restaurants! OK, I love their pastas, salads and fish specials. They have a real expensive Parma proscuitto slicer; top of the line: perfetto! Oh yeah, their ravs and tortellinis are to die for. It's versatile: romantic dinners with my wife, family gatherings laughing, singing drinking, and a great place for kids...just like in Italia! But here's the real reason I love this place: the owners go out every morning and hand pick food for us...and they don't mess around with bargains; they pay the extra buck for quality. I know, I've visited their kitchen and have seen it on multiple occasions. This is a must for are family and friends. The FOOD is GREAT, and the price is right. People always ask me ""where's a great place for food on the coast,? I run into many people if San Francisco, CA, that come from all over the world. So I must tell them THIS IS A MUST STOP on there way on the coast. Salmon fish and chip. First place winners for years on the ""The clam chowder"", and fresh fish in the market to take home right from the boats. STOP BY , but leave me SOME FOOD. We thought this was a delightful place. Now a horrible memory never to be visited again! We drove well over 120 miles for a Sunday afternoon meal only to find them closed mid afternoon - our mistake. Planning ahead the next time we spent the night and went for Sunday lunch. Our quest for more of the fantastic food and great service slowly turned into huge disappointment. Once seated, we had to wait quite a while before we could order. Our salad arrived, we waited, our drinks were not refreshed, we waited and finally our dinner arrived. We then waited and waited for our bill. My husband and I always joke about the diminishing tip when the bill does not come in a timely manner. Due to our frustration we left a 10% tip. As my husband's hand touched the door to leave, our waitress came running after us carrying on as though we did not pay for our meal. This being a very crowded area, we felt like we were on public display! Our waitress shamed us and demanded to know why her tip was only 10%. My husband handed her more tip money to hush her up. We were so embarrassed we agreed that it was not a place to visit in the future. Our time was valuable to us as well as the expense of the trip which meant nothing to our waitress. Did she think everyone lives in the neighborhood and has money bulging from their pockets? What a disappointment! We thought this was a delightful place. Moon Bay restaurant caters to romantic couples 1/27/2012

The Scene This vast, warehouse-sized space was used for processing and shipping artichokes and Brussels sprouts, but all that really remains of the original structure (besides the veggies on the menu) are the rustic wood trusses and some industrial-looking ventilators on the roof. The rest is natural stone, rich wood and warm colors, plus a big fireplace and a luscious exhibition kitchen. The Food With more than 16 years of culinary experience from the East Coast to the West, Robert Holt serves as Executive Chef where he prides himself in using local seasonal ingredients in his Mediterranean-influenced, daily-changing menu. From artichoke and chanterelle fritto misto and Catalonian shellfish ""zarzuela"" to a hearth-braised vegetable stew with chickpea socca, it's all good. Pay special attention to the whole fish of the day--order it with a buddy, along with sides of crispy Brussels sprouts and perfect fries. This is a must for are family and friends. AWESOME NEW FRENCH CHEF 1/27/2012

Cetrella is a three-star European Bistro which blends casual elegance with rustic charm, reminiscent of a Tuscan villa with cozy stone fireplaces and sun-lit terraces. It is a Mediterranean dream come true and one of the best restaurants anywhere. It features lusty, flavorful dishes inspired by European cuisine and it has a winning international wine list. The halibut and the cod are prize winners and the soups are really something to write home about. Mother's Day Brunch was an awesome experience. We walked to Cetrella the back way through the neighborhoods. The food was mouth watering. The sunlight was filtering in from above to give the place a dream-like atmosphere. The kitchen crew were in perpetual motion. Everybody and their mother was there. We walked back home through town. It was a perfect day and an unforgettable dining experience! A few days later we had another amazing meal at Cetrella in the evening! We had the potato and leek soup which has become our favorite along with the foccaccia drenched in truffle oil and followed by the foie gras and then we shared the risotto with fresh spring garlic stems puree and asparagus and peas and fava beans and morel mushrooms with a truffle foam while for my main course I had the halibut which had been fresh caught by Native Americans from a ship in Anchorage and flown in and was also bathed in morel mushrooms. This was all accompanied by a superb 2003 Barolo from Serralunga and followed by the local strawberry and mint and shortbread dessert and I also had the rice pudding which was simply mouth-wateringly delicious. It was an awesome meal and afterwards Chef Sylvain Montassier came to our table to talk with us about the preparation of our meal. He helped us make our dessert choices and talked with us about the new and exciting things we could expect on the menu in the weeks to come. We had arrived quite late well after 9:30 PM and did not finish our meal until almost 11:30 PM and by then we were the last ones to leave. We bid goodnight to all the kitchen crew and went home from a most memorable dining experience. We are so very happy that you are back! After a relaxing horseback ride on the beach, I took him to lunch at the Princeton Seafood Company restaurant on Pillar Point. This was our first visit to this restaurant, but it won't be our last! What a pleasant surprise for both of us! The hostess greeted us warmly, and seated us immediately. Our server, Melissa, was prompt, cheerful and attentive. We started our meal with oysters on the half shell, which were the freshest and most delicious oysters we have ever had (& we have them often!) The perfectly seasoned homemade New England style clam chowder was the best we've ever eaten (east or west coast). My husband ordered fish and chips and I had the fried calamari. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Marty (the owner) took the time to meet & talk with us during the busy lunchtime, and made us feel very welcome. The ambiance was clean, casual and comfortable. The menu offered a nice variety and was reasonably priced. The ample portions were more than adequate: more

Great Romantic Retreat Spot 1/27/2012

My wife and I have spent two retreats here at Landis. The quiet oceanfront property gives the isolation I so desperately need after a hard year of work. A spacious spa occupies my wife, while I relax playing video games in front of a fireplace and glances of the Pacific. Decor is simple, yet luxurious. Heated floors make undy prancing without socks enjoyable. Breakfast in bed is always a plus for those of us too lazy to get our food with sleepy eyes. The inn has the smallness of a B+B, but the accommodations of a hotel. With an intimate atmosphere and a lack of kids, it makes for a great romantic getaway. Internet and TV is available for us men too. We thought this was a delightful place. Now a horrible memory never to be visited again! great food, terrific, precise service, value and romantic! 1/27/2012

We were unfortunately stranded in Half Moon Bay on our way home from Santa Cruz which in itself was great because we love Half Moon Bay so we decided to stay over night and persuse the local food scene. We wandered down to Pasta Moon, a local bay area fav and decided to have dinner. What we were in store for was simply fabulous. Being a professional chef I always love new jaunts so we decided to have apps and then dinner. We had the proscuitto dumplings and beets salad. Wonderfully crafted and very delicious. We then had the Muscovy duck with huckleberry demi glace and the papperdelle pasta with proscuitto and sliced black truffles. Very good and very consistent. The Meyer lemon parfait and tiramisu were great as well as the pinot noir. The service was very polished and precise and we never felt rushed. We then crawled back to our hotel room very full and very satisfied. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who enjoys great Italian food! Great new destination spot on the coast. 1/27/2012

My husband and I stopped by chance at Crab Landing on Sunday after walking the beach. We were curious about when it would open and found that they had an open house going on. They offered generous samples of calamari, clam chowder, shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell (all free). Everything we had was absolutely stunning. The decor is the most beautiful on the coast. There was a table set with samples of items from the menu, which is rather extensive. Everything looked beautiful and delicious. If it is as good as it looks, and as wonderful as the samples that we had - this will be an incredible destination spot for the coast. There is an outside patio for dining which welcomes pets, 2 floors with floor to ceiling windows and elegant, modern designs. They were very gracious and I think service will prove to be excellent. We are looking forward to coming here for lunch or dinner some time soon. Crab Landing is going to give every other restaurant a run for the money. Don't miss this place! Nice location, we enjoyed this one! 1/27/2012

Our experiences have been exactly the opposite of what I have seen posted here! Our service in all but one instances has been outstanding, in fact once so good that we called the restaurant to commend our server, Lauren! We have found them all to be very helpful and pleasant ! The one instance that was not outstanding was merely great! We also enjoyed the food a LOT and have tried the crab all the different ways that it is made! Being 3rd gen SF we have been raised on crab, and have our favs: this is one of them. the downside is that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, but worth a special occasion..... they also were very good with the grandkids (5 and 7 YO) the 2 times that we brought them with us. Great Atmostphere, Great Salon, Great Stylists! 1/11/2011

I scheduled my very 1st appointment w/Barbara Forgione Salon after coming across an ad for the Salon. I don't recall where I saw the ad, but something caught my eye and prompted me to call for more information. I scheduled my 1st appointment w/Victoria and it was far from the ""typical"" first time visit for a Cut/Color/Style! Unfortunately, I have an illness and due to my illness/subsequent treatment, I was losing my hair. During that first visit, Victoria was incredibly understanding and she handled my situation with the utmost care and warmth. Victoria enlisted help from two other Stylists, Cassandra and Peggy, who were also wonderful. At the end of a very long day for all 4 of us, I walked out of the Salon feeling like a new person!! I was able to look at myself in the mirror and NOT be reminded of my ailment because all three women did a phenomenal job! Victoria gave me an incredible haircut/style so that I could keep up with the challenges I was facing...my husband even noticed! I am very proud to say that I am now a client of Victoria's and will be for as long as I am in Tampa. I am also grateful to Cassandra and Peggy for their help as well. Jai is also wonderful at what he does, I enjoy the relaxing time I spend w/him while I get my eyebrows waxed. BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER! 1/11/2011

I was at SB Spa this morning and booked a 90 Detox massage and a Classic European facial... Well actually my husband did. but anyways, it was great I got to use a Sauna and Shower before and after my amazing massage with Ricardo! GREAT DEEP TISSUE. Sara gave me an wonderful facial, which included a scalp and neck massage, She was a sweetheart! The place was large, clean and beautiful. Judy, the hair Stylist, was also great. I loved how the hair salon is private and I can actually relax while having my hair done, reading a novel while not hearing other people talking... it was truly a relaxing day. Thanks Baby for the wonderful surprise, and thanks SB Spa for making my day peaceful. I will be back soon. FOR ALL THE MEN OUT THERE: Your loved ones will thank you for getting them this for christmas! more

The best place to get hair extensions! 1/11/2011

I have always wanted long hair but trying to grow it out was nearly impossible. I would never consider hair extensions, however, as I thought they would harm my hair. Just the opposite. I spend less time on my hair and look 100% better. No one can tell that I have hair extensions because my color is matched perfectly. I don't even feel them in my hair. I just have to perfect the flip over the shoulder now. I HIGHLY recommend ANYONE who wants hair extensions to go to H2O Salon for quality, service, the whole package! more

not just a great steak 12/5/2010

first, let me say i have young children and this is a night for adult dinning. leave your kids with a friend. our last dinner was what made me want to write a review ( even three days later ). we were stuck in traffic near the stadium and we decided to upgrade our lifestyle from wasting time in traffic to a warm and engaging meal with friends. we arrived on a tuesday at 5:30 to find the gm carl parker opening the front door for us and after we had not been seated immediately he walked over to fix the problem (no reservations) we were in our seats shortly there after were we learned from our server who he was. the dinning room was full of others dinners who were obviously very happy and were not afraid to enjoy themselves. this made me want a nice glass of wine to take the traffic off. my husband and our guests were pleased with the service not just from our primary guy but all of those who came to the table. even the staff who were serving the tables around us seemed to make themselves available if we needed. now to be specific, i not only got a nice glass from my husband but an even nicer bottle after the wine steward stopped by to advise us. we had three bottles between the six of us and two different wines. i have eaten at charleys for years but never have i realized how much fun wine can add to the meal. i wrote a thank you note to our friends for meeting us on short notice and when my friend called back she said her fiance had looked closely at the wine list and decided nearly all of the wines were priced under ""restaurant"" retail and that he wanted to have his business dinners there to take advantage of the wine. there is nothing to say about the steaks other than you cannot get steak from a fire any better. if you like the butter and oven or the propane char from the other steakhouses in town then go for it. i happen to like steak the way it was meant to be and i'm learning wine and the fun others people are having is just as important. not just steak more

Still delicious, but not worth the price 12/5/2010

am absolutely appalled with this restaurant! This institution has been a place my family has enjoyed for the past 4 generations. And while the food is still good. The cost is outrageous! It was $25 for 2 quarts... 1 fish spread & 1 potato salad. And while it was delicious, you cannot use your debit card which is an inconvenience especially if you are like me and never have more than $10-15 cash on you at any given moment. They also wanted to charge $.05 for every cracker or hot sauce packet. You need at least 2+ sleeves of crackers to eat a quart of fish spread. I am very saddened by this. While the food is good and we have immensely enjoyed this in the past. Unfortunately unless we win the lottery, we will not be returning. End of an Era... :( more

Are these guys serious? 11/28/2010

My dad had granite installed in his kitchen several years ago by International G & S. After breaking a piece off at the sink seam, my dad demanded they cut a new piece. Several days later, they brought a thicker, non- matching replacement piece and tapered it in on the bottom to match up in thickness. It still is very noticable, and I did not care much for them after that. About one year ago, however, my friend used them for his kitchen. They really hadn't gotten any better. In fact, there were seven issues with this job including chipped edgwork, a used/ scratched sink, a broken cabinet (which was new), a large seem (which seperated months later), uneven margins w/ the cabinetry, and an ""accidental"" overcharge for this aweful job. They sent the original installer back out to fix most of the issues and gave my friend a discount for the used sink, but he was still not happy and just wanted their mess out of his kitchen and his money back in his pocket. I guess when you spend thousands of dollars a month on advertising, you don't have to do a good job, because if they put either of the two jobs I've seen in their ad, they would be ruined.\r There is a good granite company also on Gunn Hwy. that does not rely so much on advertising, but more so on word of mouth and repeat customers. more

Communication 8/25/2010

This is not our first granite installation (it's our 6th). The end product was good. It's how we got there that resulted in the single star.\r \r Pros:\r - Great selection of remnants (ours was a single piece on top of a custom entertainment center). \r - The tech that did the template was awesome (excellent fit on a not so straight wall)\r - The installation went well (the tech's did a good job blending in a small imperfection). \r *\r Opportunities:\r - We received an initial installation date of Friday 8-20-10. We did not request a rush or any special treatment.\r - As we had not received the time of the installation, we called them around 10:00 that day and they then told us that some equipment had broken, and the install would not take place that day (these things happen but shouldn't they have called us?)\r - We received a revised installation day as Tuesday 8-24-10. We even received a call from an installer around 12:15 telling us that they would be here at 2:00. Great!\r - At 3:30, I had not heard anything so I called. I was told that the granite was not done, and that our insyallation would not take place. Again, why weren't we informed?\r - After a very ""interesting"" discussion with their Retail Sales Manager, they said they would be back in touch. \r - We received a call later that day and the installation took place this morning as outlined above.\r \r What I learned: \r - Do not pay more than the 50% or 60% required before the completion of the job. We knew better but trusted the company. We lost all leverage in paying 100% in advance of the installation. \r - Pay with credit card only. Checks can not be challenged, if the deal goes south.\r - Request everything in writing, even the appointment dates and times. The fact that I only had verbal commitments was used against me ( I had no proof that I was told of the initial two installation dates and times).\r *\r Will I do business with them again? I might. They had some very nice slabs and the end product was great, but i will think twice due to the lack of communication. more

Very Satisfied 6/24/2010

I got my counter top installed about two weeks ago. I went in on a Saturday and picked out the slabs I wanted , unlike the other places I went, they wanted me to drive all over town to different warehouses, which I didn't have time for. Once I picked my slabs, they took a picture and put them into some kind vein matching program. I was able to see my actual slab, and how it would lay out in my kitchen. I was completely amazed and comforted by this, because I knew exactly how everything was going to look before it was actually installed and I didn't have to worry about it. The men that installed my counter tops did a great job as well. They were able to answer all my questions and I can't even barely see my seams! Over all, I am completely satisfied with my entire kitchen project and I would recommend to anyone who wants a great price with excellent quality! Pros: Very timely, great price, awsome quality and technology. Cons: none that I can think of. more
