Best

Nice restaurant with great food, sweet and friendly staffs and nice services, we love their food!! Highly recommended!! Pros: Great Restaurant for Dim Sum, Thai and Sushi

Worst

After I phoned in my reservation, they lost it and I had to wait 20 minutes with no apology whatsoever. The rice noodles were tough and old, the shrimp obviously pre-frozen small...

We have been going to NeoAsia every ~6 6/3/2012

We have been going to NeoAsia every ~6 weeks for the last year (Cary store and went to the Raleigh one prior to that) and have typically enjoyed the food and the service ... but had a terrible experience last week. The experience also provided insights on how little management and owners care about customers. Pros: null Cons: null more

Not very helpful service 9/26/2010

My family, being first-time Dim Sum customers, were uninformed to the Dim-Sum concept. We sat at our table not sure of how to order and without anybody to explain it to us. more

Fine 6/25/2010

All these reviews have been so passionate in terms of good and bad -- this rather surprises me. Neo-China is, in my several years of experience with them, good. We don't rave about it, but it's solid. If you want a Chinese-American take-out meal (that's how we usually eat it) that stands on the good side of typical, choose Neo-China. Pros: Tastes Fine, customer service fine Cons: not extraordinary more

WASTE OF MY PRECIOUS SUNDAY 5/30/2010

Our first time in this place turned out to be VERY DISAPPOINTING. This place evokes an ambiance of a very poorly designed W Hotel. Pros: none Cons: A LOT more

I would rather starve to death than eat at this place. 3/13/2010

Let me first start by saying that I have been a regular customer of this place for 6+ years. I almost swore this place to be better than any place. We always enjoyed the take out as it was fun to enjoy your favorite food with your family in the comfort of your house. It takes us close to 30 mins to drive to this place. I have recently had bad experiences with the food but today was proabably the worst one. I would still let it go but it was the horrible experience with manager of this restaurant that prompted me to write this review. The food recently has been quite bland, meat has been overcooked or undercooked, chewy at times and the sauce does not seem to have the flavor. The takeout for 2 is close to 25+ for that kind of money you would not expect the "mall stall" kind of food. But today our food was clearly stale. We are parents of 2 kids, one of them is newly born and those who are parents can understand it is quite challenging to find time to have peaceful sit down meals. We got the take out for lunch and fed our eldest child while my wife was attending our infant. It was pretty late in the afternoon when we got to eat our lunch and we found it stale. We felt incredibly bad to feed our eldest child the food that we "trusted" always to be good. We barely got through our lunch as there was no point in taking the food back and get the replacement. I was not willing to invest an hour in that exercise but I thought we will call them and let them know. My wife called them and explained the situation. The person in charge called the manager and then called us back saying please bring whatever is remaining and we will make fresh entrees. We really appreciated that they considered to fix the issue and they said it is ok if we come back in the evening. Well when I went in the evening, the manager was incredibly rude and there was absolutely no apology for the inconvenience. On top of it, he said since you guys have had some portion from these meals, I cannot make you both the entrees but will make only one of them. I don't know what to say after that but I walked out saying don't worry about it. My blood was boiling and I called him to tell me that I did not appreciate this treatment, on which he said that he is busy right now and cannot talk. After a bad food and such "blood boiling" service, I would rather starve to death than eat at this place.................Hope this helps ! Pros: None Cons: All of them more

Not as good as it used to be 2/17/2010

I've been going to Neo China for 10+ years. It's not as good as it used to be, either in terms of food quality or service, but it's still OK. I usually do take-out, which now costs me about $5 more than it used to (now $25+ for take-out for 2 people), which seems way too much for what you get. The food is sometimes inconsistent. Overcooked, undercooked, flavors may vary. Sauce seems artificially thickened and shiny. Unlike most chinese restaurants, many dishes come with a variety of vegetables, although they're the exact same mixture of veggies (squash, zucchini, etc.) which gets old pretty quickly. You can order dishes without MSG (can't believe they still use it), but they taste really bland. They've extended their menu to include Thai and sushi, but you can't really do everything equally well. The last Thai dish I had there was really disappointing. Pros: Extensive menu, brown rice option, lots of veggies Cons: Overpriced more

Fake chinese food 5/9/2009

First impression of Neo China went right down the toilet upon entering the restaurant. Management was not friendly upon greeting...waiter had no idea what he was doing...didn't greet us, just took a drink order, took long for the drinks...took 15 mins to take our appetizer order because he insisted on what was his best choice on the menu to order and started to argue with us, not very good manners on his part...brought main course out not even five minutes after appetizers were served...main course came out cold and too pricey for chinese food. for example, who wants to pay 4 dollars for two spare-ribs? horrible. please don't eat there, just go to china chef in apex. Pros: None Cons: Cold food, arrogant management, poor service. more

Was hoping for the best, got the worst experience when eating leftovers at home... 2/2/2009

I am sorry this is my first review but this is just too gross. My girlfriend and I love dim sum and were pleasantly surprised when we found Neo China. Even though there are alot of people and few wait staff, everyone is friendly and there is good variety with quick service. It was great so we started going there for Sunday brunch every weekend and especially enjoyed the sticky rice. Anyways, we took food home as usual (since our eyes are usually bigger than our stomachs) and the food went straight to the fridge for the next night's meal and we split leftovers. I wolfed down my half (not chewing my food enough as usual) and she picks at her food - and pulled out what looked like a cooked larvae with pincers from the sticky rice. I thought it was just a piece of chicken cut into a little bit - until she told me she saw exoskeleton and pincers which just grossed us both out. Anyways, it was probably a fluke until I realized I saw the exact same thing the week before but just thought it was an oddly cut piece of chicken or meat. All I know is that we both totally grossed out and can't go back now. We are both really sad since we really enjoyed the atmosphere and food - I really hope that it was just isolated incidents. I joked that maybe that's why we liked it and got yelled at :-/ Anyways if you do go, please write me directly to let me know that we were being crazy and if enough people tell me the sticky rice is fine, I'll go back and try again (by myself first).... Pros: Atmosphere, food variety, dim sum, wait staff Cons: Found grossness in one food item. Can't go back now. more

terrible food, over priced, total rip-off 1/3/2009

1) environment - dark and smelly, greasy and sticky stuff on floor Pros: none Cons: a good place to spoil your good mood and waste your time and money more

Very nice restaurant, A MUST TRY PLACE!! 10/26/2008

This is the best Chinese and perfect Dim Sum, variety of foods you can pick from the carts; is the best restaurant I've ever had. The food was great , the services are perfect, and all the staffs are warm and friendly! I can't believe the description of this previous review, I can't think of anything bad at all! We love this restaurant and they have wonderful Sushi and Thai now, it's a must try place!! Highly recommended from us. Pros: Thumbs up, great place, good services! more

Horrible customer service, even by managers and food always cold. 7/26/2008

This restaurant has the worst customer service I have ever been to, not the entire staff but mostly mangement. Since it is not a franchise or corporate there is not much we can do except by not going any more. I have been going to this restaurant for quite some time now and not once has the manager stop by and ask how we are doing knowing we come all the time which shouldn't matter. If you walk into any corporate restaurant that is one small important gesture the manager can make without going out of his way is put a smile on their face and make the guest feel welcomed, even a table visit would be nice which by the way is part of the manager job description. As a matter of fact he always puts on a blank rude stare and sometimes drops off food rudely and literally plops the plate on the table and immediately walks away without asking how our experience has been so far. The first time this happened I excused it by saying "maybe he was having a bad day" everyone gets those once in a while, but no, this has been a continuous cycle each week and simply unprofessional and discourteous to all the guest. The food is 8/10 times either cold or looks like its been sitting out for a VERY long time. when asked when when some fresh food will be coming out, management looks very irritated and reheats the same food that has been on the cart (often thrown back in the deep fryer so now it is saturated in oil) and again throws it on the table and walks away. there is also never enough food prepared each week. either management does not care or this restaurant is poorly prepared every week. Pros: location, Cons: food preparation, service of managment more

Terrible Dim Sum 7/19/2008

I used to think Neo China in Cary had decent Dim Sum, but not so much anymore after two bad experiences including one this afternoon. We arrived during the prime lunch hour (~12:30pm) on a Saturday afternoon--the Dim Sum selection was scarce; worst of all, none of their Dim Sum was hot. It was at best luke warm. Anyone who knows Dim Sum would tell you that Dim Sum must be served hot! I often see going out for meals (brunch, lunch, dinner) with family and friends as an enjoyable experience, but my latest experience with Neo China in Cary was anything but enjoyable. The quality of the food is the primary driving force (in addition to service and ambience) in attracting new and returning customers--Neo China has certainly failed repeatedly in this category. Our experience was a total disappointment-we would've been better off getting fast food for lunch this afternoon and that would have saved us more than $20! Pros: Ambience ok Cons: Dim Sum more

Customer beware 3/29/2008

You need to watch this one as they have a funny habit of holding onto your credit card. Twice I have had to ask them to give me back my card after I had signed the receipt. Only for them to stare blankly at me until I explained they still had my card. Today however they didn't give me my credit card just the receipt and it wasn't until I went to pay for something else at another store I realized again what they had done. Bad service and inconsistent. Cons: Unfriendly more

Dim Sum on weekends 12/30/2007

4 of us went for Dim Sum 2 weeks ago on a saturday afternoon. It was excellent food. I enjoyed it all. I can't wait to go back. I enjoyed the chinese broccoli, the sticky rice, the tofu dumpling was great. I had a fried shrimp that was yummy. It was very tasty and the price for 4 was $44. with tea. I would suggest getting 1 thing and eating it. The portions are large enough to share. Its not a place for a quick meal - but lots of fun watching all the food go by. I had a sesame bun - it was sweetish but not a dessert - it was very good. Pros: tasty food - get 1 thing, eat it and then get more - so food is not cold more

Flavorful Chinese, good lunch spot 5/11/2007

Let me start by saying I'm not typically a fan of ordinary Americanized Chinese food. I love Thai and Vietnamese because food of these regions typically has flavor by utilizing unique spices like lemongrass, and I love curry. I find most Chinese places to be extremely bland, overly salty, food that is cooked in way too much oil, and they usually have the exact same menu. This is not the case at Neo-China in Cary. Sure they have some of the familiar dishes like the old stand by of sweet & sour chicken, but they also have some unique combinations. The Spicy Honey Chicken is amazing! It is very lightly battered unlike so many other places I've tried where the pieces of chicken are fried in so much batter that there is actually little meat inside. At Neo China it really is "lightly dusted" nice chunks of chicken breast, not dark meat. The spicy honey sauce is awesome, a perfect balance of sweet and spicy and it actually has flavor! The hot and sour soup is pretty good too. They use better ingredients here than most other Chinese places, so yes it is a little pricier for Chinese. The lunch specials are a pretty good value, at around $7.00 each you get a wide variety of choices and it comes with soup, egg roll and rice. I'm looking forward to trying their Dim Sum on the weekend. Pros: flavorful food, better ingredients, variety in the menu, modern and clean interior more

Wonderful Dim Sum on the Weekends 11/11/2006

Neo China's Dim Sum is one of the triangle's best kept secrets. Yes it's hectic and you may have to wait and you may not know what the heck you're ordering. But it's cheap, fun and feels like you're on vacation in Hong Kong. Just order and don't worry about it. We split our tab with the table in order to try lots of items and after getting totally stuffed, we each ended up with a $10.00 tab including tea. It was so much fun, I can't wait to go back. In addition, I took four clients and myself out for lunch one day and the total tab was $45.00! We all loved our food. The person who complained about the price has me confused. This place is a great buy for the money. You can't compare it to the typical take out style restaurants. It's a sit down restaurant and priced accordingly. Pros: Great Dim Sum on the weekends Cons: Wait staff is not all fluent in English (but they are friendly and accomodating) more

chinese food?? 4/8/2006

I got delivery. It didn't taste bad; but it didn't taste like chinese food. It was over priced and I could have gotten something similar by cooking some chicken, rice, veggies and topping with heinz gravy. Cons: not authentic, long delivery time, expensive more
