I have to take my family to Gindi Thai at least once a week for sushi and Thai food. Very nice employees. We love it! Have to try it!

Wonderful food at a reasonable cost. I would recommend it highly! Pros: great blend of sushi and thai more

Consistently good food that is the best thai in the area. 1/27/2009

The decor is bright, and airy. The space minimal but warm. The food/service subtle but effective. We left full and without a huge dent in the pocketbook. They offer a 15% KCRW discount on food. They offer Thai as well as sushi and a full bar. more

Awesome place for tasty Thai food! 1/16/2009

The panang tofu and the vegetable drunken noodles are both favorites! You can request extra spiciness, if you so desire (as I always do). And their tofu is fabulous! - it's not overly chewy or spongy - delivers saucy flavor in little savory cubes of joy. Pros: Food, service and value. Cons: Parking is a bit hard to find more

Super Duper Thai! 10/30/2008

This is my favorite place to Thai food in LA. They are tasty and healthy. I like the restaurant's atmosphere. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good meal. They are very busy during lunch on weekday which is of no surprise since the price is very reasonable. The service slows down when the place is packed but it's understandable. I would go there for dinner when I don't have to fight for a seat with the office workers in the area at lunch. more

Best Thai Food and Sushi 10/5/2008

My friends took me to Gindi Thai for a birthday dinner. I was surprised to find out that there is a good Thai restaurant in the valley and it dressed so nicely. I used to go to Hollywood to enjoy delicious Thai food but not anymore. The sushi is good and reasonably priced. I came back for a business lunch and the atmosphere is different. At lunch, it's quite crowded and service gets a bit slower since everyone wants to get in and get out. more

Awful service, mediocre food 10/3/2008

I've been to Gindi a few times due to the proximity to the studios where I work. The food is mediocre at best, but I've gone back due to the lack of restaurant options in the area. The service has never been good, but lately it is just awful! For a packed lunch crowd, they had just two servers. I sat at the bar for almost 15 minutes and no one even asked if I wanted water. I am done with this place. Their sushi is not fresh, but considering this is a Thai restaurant, why do they even have sushi?? They should concentrate on perfecting their Thai dishes (which are very uninspired) and training their staff to take care of their patrons. I won't be going back. more

Thai in the nick of time 9/7/2008

I decided to to celebrate my best friend's birthday & try a new restaurant. I knew that he loved Sushi and search on the city search website. I found this restaurant and did not read the reviews in order to form my own opinion of the restaurant. We arrived at about 9:30 pm on a Saturday night without a reservation and although they closed at 10 pm, we never rushed. We were very impressed with the thai infused menu and although the sushi menu appeared to be small, it was more than enough. The larb gai appetizer was a rainbow of flavors and itself was a meal and the gindi special roll was fresh, the tuna had a deep healthy color, and it was prepared with very little rice topped with spicy scrimp. We got our first dish in a manner of minutes and enjoyed their house sake and amazing ecleptic music selection which complemented the modern and chic decor. We were attended by our server and a young man who seemed to be checking every table at the restaurant. The atmosphere was very intimate, welcoming and the restaurant well maintained. Their bar was well stocked and i will definately return with my friends. Pros: attentive and friendly staff more

excellent tempura, great service 7/9/2008

The place kinda looks like Ikea but in a good way. The service is always amazing, their mojitos are great, the sashimi is as good as all the thai dishes which are all spectacular. I would particularly recommend the pineapple fried rice and gra pow. Good prices too. Parking can occasionally be a bit tricky. Pros: excellent food, excellent service, great ambience Cons: not the best parking more

Great food! 5/22/2008

This is one of the best restaurants I've been to recently. All of the food was excellent. My boyfriend and I tried their sashimi (which was great, it melted in my mouth), a noodle dish, their 3 kinds of curry, and their mango sticky rice dessert (which was delicious!). We got there right when they opened so it wasn't very busy, but the decor was subtle yet trendy. Their drink list looked really good as well. I will definitely be coming back here! Pros: Great food, reasonable prices Cons: Parking was a little difficult more

Great Authentic Thai Restaurant with Cocktails. 3/26/2008

A Friend recommended that we check out this place. It turned out to be the tastiest Thai restaurant that i been to in LA. It's a nice spot where you can chill and have a great meal. more

Terrible sushi. Service is not so hot 3/24/2008

Have gone four or five times for lunch during the week as it is so close. The sushi is small, bland, grey and seems to have been sitting in a luke warm environment for too long. I have tried twice and will not again. The hot food has been pretty acceptable, with the Flambe Volcano Chicken being my favorite so far. Weekday lunch is very busy loud and close quartered and the services is pretty slow and unresponsive. Pros: Close. Pretty good thai Cons: Service. Sushi more

Nice decor, great food 2/20/2008

I really like what they have to offer. I had gra pow, and 2 sushi plates of their Gindi special, and Dragon roll. Great presentation, superb decor with great color pallette (kudos to the designer and interior) and clean bathrooms with cute writings on the wall about the word Gindi that in Thai means good eats I guess. Talking about service, the staff was very cordial and nice, however I really think they need to be more attentive. I waited to order, while other people who were seated after me ordered beforehand. I didn't want to be picky, but I eventually had to signal a guy from the bar area to look over. That wasn't too bad, but the wait for the food, took forever...15 minutes? At least bring me 1 dish first before hand or let me know how it goes. Design and flavor sold me, but services is questionable. Pros: Creative decor, presentation sold! Price is not too bad. Cons: THE WAIT, and lack of attentiveness more

Good Food with Interesting Specials 2/11/2008

Been to Gindi Thai a few times. Friendly staff that will try hard to accommodate your requests. The food is consistent. Tasty and authentic. Standard fares (Pad Thai, Larb, etc.) are all there. Some have a little twist to it. Som Tum - the papaya salad - is plated high and dress not with peanut but slices of almond. Specials are what sets it apart from other Thai place in town. For the times that I have been there, I have tried many of their specials -- and they are all interesting and good. Sushi with mango, shrimp salad with avocado, braised short rib with Chinese five spice, egg noodle soup with duck, fantastic bites (which is an intriguing lettuce wrap with shrimp, baked coconut bits and sweet caramel sauce). Most of them come and go by the month but some are so popular that they are now on their regular menu. If you have no idea what to eat, try the special and you will be pleasantly surprise. Pros: Interesting specials, authentic standard fares, nice, casual ambience Cons: Service can be more polished more

Awesome Thai in Burbank 2/10/2008

I just ordered delivery from this place after looking for a good Thai restaurant in studio area. The food was terrific. I can highly recommend this place in terms of the quality of the food--fresh, tasty, upscale. Only downside I can say to this place is that the food does not come in big portions. The container of steamed rice looks like a very small portion but it actually was enough and costs only $1. I also ordered ""GREEN EGGPLANT CURRY and v-e-r-y fresh and tasty. I also ordered a ROTI (Asian pita bread). I would re-order from this place the next time. It's not cheap like some Thai places but it's not expensive either (my order for one cost $15). The food stands out. Great take-out ordering. If you prefer sit-down dining during busy lunch, I extremely recommend make reservation (because they are crazy busy during lunch). Pros: Stand-out food.... quality and taste Cons: Initially the portion appears surprisingly small - but you get over it! more

Horrible service and bad food 1/23/2008

Because Gindi Thai is close to the studios I've visited it a few times and each time has been worse than the last. The first time I had a Pad See Ew, which was actually burned. I had no idea you could burn broccoli, and the egg was almost black. The second time I went the service was appallingly slow and lacking. Thinking you might have to tackle a server to see a menu is never a good sign. This final time (which aggravated me to write this review) the soup (Wonton) was bland and tasteless and the take-out service was so bad that I would have just walked out altogether if I hadn't already paid for the food. I will never go here again, convenience be damned. You're much better off visiting The Thai Room Garden on Hollywood Way. more
