I picked this restaurant for a special occasion b/c of the great reviews I have read. I made a reservation and specifically asked for a window seat. When they called the day before to confirm my reservation, I once again, asked for a window seat and I was told it was written as my request. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised to see that they offered complimentary valet parking since it was a rather stormy night. When we entered I noticed the trendy atmosphere at the bar and was told our table would be about 5 minutes or so. After being sat at a table that WAS NOT a window seat ( I did not say anything since our table had somewhat of a view ) I was again pleasantly surprised at the dinner selections on the menu. My husband ordered the lamp chops (something he eats frequently at finer restaurants) and is always very particular about how they are prepared. He enjoyed them immensely. I ordered the salmon with a curry and coconut sauce. The waiter assured me it was not spicy at all and he was right. It was absolutely delicious. The risotto that came with it was very creamy and the asparagus and spinach sides were very complimenting. We both enjoyed the Key Lime Pie afterwards which was nothing special but nonetheless very good. Our total dinner with 2 glass of wine, 1 cup of coffee, 2 entrees and 2 desserts was $80. We would both return and recommend this establishment to others because of the complimentary valet parking, great wine selection, friendly staff, very knowledgeable waiters, great service and absolutely delicious food that was appropriately portioned. Both the wine and food menus were not vast, by any means, but they had a great selection of all types of food and drink. My only recommendation is that if you truely desire a window seat, you may need to remind them more than twice. However, some of the seating that is not directly against a window still has a view. Overall, we were very pleased with the Germantown Cafe.
