Excellent 10/7/2008

The minute I walked through the door, I felt right at home. The staff was polite and welcoming, the decor was warm and beautiful, and the music was soft and relaxing. We were promptly seated at a corner table, more of a booth, but to call it merely a booth would serve it no justice. Comfortable, with ample room, colorful pillows, and a great view of the restaurant. I started out with a delicious seasonal pumpkin soup, thick and hearty. Then I moved on to the horseradish crusted shrimp, while my wife enjoyed the fresh and dried fruit salad with candied walnuts and fresh field greens. The main course for my wife was the tilapia topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and buerre blanc sauce, on top of fresh crisp vegetables and risotto. I had a center cut filet cooked to medium rare perfection, with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Everything was excellently prepared. Even though neither my wife nor I had much room for dessert, we could not resist. My wife decided on the vanilla cheesecake with strawberry puree, and I had the apple pie a la mode, which had been baked earlier that day. We didn't have a problem finding room for these delicious treats. Throughout most of this amazing meal, a piano player appeared and played a great mix of broadway, soft rock and more. Overall, the atmosphere was inviting, the service superb - prompt, polite, and professional, and the food was spectacular. Don't miss this hidden gem! more

Elegant place, good service and best of all BYOB 7/22/2008

I have frequented Food for Thought for years, in groups, as a couple and with friends and never had a bad experience - the food is delicious, the service excellent and the ambience is to be recommended. I drive 36 miles to dine in Marlton and it's worth every mile. This is a place where you can not only dine in style, you can actually have a conversation with your dining partners without interrupting background noise or noisy patrons. I highly recommend it and hope it stays that way. more

Food for Thought 3/23/2008

A most excellent restaurant . . . lovely decor, attentive service and beautifully prepared food. My only complaint is that they don't enforce a dress code that would require the patrons to attire in a manner that is appropriate for such an up-scale place. Pros: Cuisine, ambiance, service, parking Cons: Lack of dress-code more

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!! 9/15/2007

My husband & I just love this restaurant! We go here once a month, sometimes more often. The restaurant has been under new ownership for a few years and what a blessing that has been. They are wonderful, caring people who truly care for their customers. The menu is wonderful and varied- something for everyone's palate and diet. There's even a vegetarian menu. Some of our favorites are the crabcakes, the talapia, the grilled flatbread and the fried calamari. There's specials that change weekly. The pastry chef does wonders with the deserts. The ""sugar free"" cheesecake and the banana bread pudding are to die for.\r My sympathies go out to ""energy1017"" who criticized the lamb and the steak. We've been there with friends who have had the steak and the lamb and had no complaints. The chef would never compromise the quality of his food. Maybe ""Energy1017"" should go to Outback where he'd probably would be happier. As for the others who appreciate good quality food and great service, don't miss trying Food For Thought. Pros: food, service,BYO more

The Finest Restaurant in Marlton, New Jersey 8/29/2007

Simply put . . . this is the finest restaurant in Marlton, NJ! We eat out quite a bit and have tried all sorts of cuisines in South Jersey and Philadelphia yet we always come back to Food for Thought for its outstanding menu and attentive wait staff. During our last visit, everyone raved about the calamari (appetizer) and the beef tips with portabello mushrooms (entree). If you enjoy spicy foods, then the seafood gumbo is exactly what you'll want. A nearby table told the waitress that the scallops were the best he ever had. The chef came out of the kitchen to thank the couple and explained how all the seafood was fresh. Don't forget to try their lunch menu--they do lunch right too! Next time you have to wait an hour to get a table at Chammps, go around the back and you'll find Food for Thought tucked away in the corner of the shopping center. You'll be glad you did! (It's BYOB!) Pros: Appetizers are excellent, Entrees better but leave room for dessert--THE BEST! Cons: Wish it wasn't so $$$, we'd visit more often. more

The worst food in years 3/27/2006

This place was recommended by a friend, and has a Zagats rating of 24. On arriving the people next to us were telling the waiter that the Veal Chop special was ""grizzely."" I had rack of lamb, and the fat was as hard as a rock. My wife had the Delmonico steak, and it was over-cooked, and not the best piece of meat. Nothing was actually prepared properly, and these were standard dishes. Something has changed here: ownership, chef ... this was not just lower than expected, this was terrible. Cons: bad food more
