Best wine and dine in Nashville! Beautifully decorated. 10/11/2008

Best Wine List available anywhere in town. Flyte has a vast selection of interesting wines, plus the ability to order a wine Flyte of 3 different wines. Dinner was very different from the normal chain feast. Our party really enjoyed the organic / humanely raised emphasis that the restaurant is known for, along with a vegetarian option listed on the menu with the other entrees. I had the filet which was perfect. Desserts were beautiful. We tried 3 and they were all fantastic. We hung in the bar after dinner and had another cocktail. We will be having a happy hour there very soon. If you are looking for a new and exciting place, this is it. Pros: Wine, dinner options, service, parking, comfortable bar area, music Cons: A bit pricey, but well worth it more

Great find! 9/3/2008

Took my girlfriend here this past weekend and we both loved it! Their focus on organic food is great and they have a really cool wine list. Server (Mark? Mike? started with an M) was knowledgeable and fun. We'll be back often! Pros: organic food, wine list, parking more

Super Atmosphere...dissappointing dinner 8/24/2008

We were very excited to go to Flyte recently but were dissappointed with the results. We were very pleased with the wine list. When we ordered a second bottle however, we were told they were out. The wine that our server recommended as being even better was nothing like the 1st selection. Our service was very slow, we had a hard time getting the attention of our server. Other than the 2nd bottle of wine he did not provide much assistance with our ordering. The soup flyte was good (especially the corn chowder). The salads dissppointed. The grouper was too tough to even cut with a knife and was no larger than 1"" x 2"". We did not complain but would have thought the server would have commented on it when he cleared the plates. The pork was very good though. Our table had 3 desserts but I cannot tell you what they were...we were not impressed. However, afterwards we stopped in the bar and the bartender recommended the Scarlett Letter drink which was delicious!!! We do not need large portions, we really do like to be able to order salads, entrees and dessert and not leave the restaurant overly full but some the portion sizes were too small. Pros: Beautiful Restaurant! Cons: Serving sizes, service more

great new resturant 8/1/2008

though the location was iffy.....upon entering the resturant my wife and I felt right at home...both the lounge and resturant areas are warm and inviting... our servers' name was haley; she was charming and new the menu very well....all of her suggestions were right on!!! the appatizers, salads, main course and deserts were excellent as were the vodka martini's.....we've been to most resturants in the nashville area but this one didn't have any negatives....we had a great evening and though we leave a lot of resturants and never go back, this won't be the case with flyte's.....can wait to come back for more good food and entertainment!!!! more

Flyte - First Class - Reserve Today! 7/25/2008

I have known about Flyte for quite some time. Last night was the first time that I have ventured there to dine. I have to say that I am very sorry I did not come sooner. I tend to be intimiated by different cuisine, but I did not have one bad thing at this resaurant. Chef Bobby was incredible. The soups were devine. Each person at our table orded something different so we could all try it. Everything was prepared to perfection. It looked too good to eat and tasted even better. The service was outstanding. Request Haley if you can. She was very accomodating and friendly! The atmosphere was great, lighting was dim and elegant; I would have to rank Flyte up there as one of the best places to eat in Nashville. Pros: Valet Parking, Ambience - Elegant, Surpurb service more

Nothing special 7/24/2008

We ordered the Rock Star Flyte and it was NOT worth $26 paid. Waiter did not even tell us which wines were which when he delivered them. Wine was delivered halfway into our second course but ordered at the same time. Also ordered the Pecan Pie Salad. Total bill for 1 ""flyte"", salad and appetizer was over $60. Left before ordering a full meal. Interesting, but not fantastic and not worth $10. We did however get a cozy corner booth that was romantic. more

Go today! 7/3/2008

If you've never been to Flyte for whatever reason - go now! They really do have something for everyone..their menu is sophisticated but not stuffy - and most importantly, it's delicious! You can tell that the kitchen staff is really into what they do. They've also added a great happy hour menu with drink and food specials, which is definitely worth a try. (The buffalo spring rolls, if you like chicken, are a must try - and it's enough for a meal, too, if you're not interested in a big dinner that day). Pros: great desserts, and the brussel sprouts - you have to try them! Cons: can be a little loud; if you're looking for a quiet dinner, tell them so they can seat you at the right table more

Outstanding food and service! 7/2/2008

Last week I was travelling for business to Nashville and took a group of 8 co-workers and customers to Flyte. I often take clients out in NYC so I'm used to very high quality dining and service. I must confess I was very impressed with both the quality of food and the level of service we received - ranked right up with any of the best meals I've ever experienced. The flyte of three soups was fantastic, and the pork loin practically melted in my mouth. Our server was very attentive and at the same time respectful of our business meeting. I will definitely be back! Pros: Food quality, service, bar, decor, wine list more

A message from the owners of Flyte 7/1/2008

As the owners of Flyte, it has been difficult for us to decide whether or not to respond to guest reviews after they are posted. We take all of our customer feedback very, very seriously and it is because we take it so seriously that we have decided to respond to the most recent review posted by LovetoEat1978. We were extremely disappointed to read about their poor experience, and thanks to their detailed account of the evening have already ascertained the nature of our mistakes. We invite the reviewer to contact us through our web site and hope to learn even more, and perhaps make amends for our shortcomings on that particular evening. For those who are interested, we post all of our feedback (Citysearch, Yelp, Open Table and Zagats) on our web site in its original form, including those of a critical nature. We are grateful to everyone who has posted their reviews, and will continue to capitalize on every opportunity to improve our restaurant. - Scott & Scott more

Extremely Bad Service 7/1/2008

A group of us went here recently for a birthday dinner. The server kept forgetting our drinks, brought my salad along with my entree, forgot the appetizer we ordered to share and also forgot someone's soup. A glass of white wine was served warm. So being a former server myself, I asked the guy what the deal was. He blamed the kitchen! The peculiar thing was that there were maybe 6 other tables of people in the whole place. There wasn't any excuse that could satisfy me -- I expected small portions and high priced food, but awful service has turned me off from Flyte forever. I wished we'd gone to Virago for sushi and martinis instead. Pros: pretty decor, good lighting Cons: service, food quality more

Best In Town 6/10/2008

This is my favorite new restaurant in Nashville. It has a warm atmosphere and the service is always top notch and dependable. I really enjoy the wine list, which is the most eclectic in the city, and how the descriptions are written in full detail on the menu. The food is beautiful, fresh, and incredibly delicious. I?ve been here three times and every visit the food was better than before. I will continue to visit Flyte and bring my friends and business associates as well. Thanks Flyte. You?re a welcome relief to the mundane Nashville food scene! Pros: Everything is great! more

Quite expensive but still a great experience! 6/2/2008

We recently met two other couples at Flyte and had a wonderful dinner there! Being a finicky eater of the highest order, I'd checked out the menu on their website beforehand and already planned what I'd order. That turned out to be a waste of time as the menu we were presented with wasn't nearly the same as the one they posted online. I ended up ordering the duck and it was great! Everyone raved about their chosen dishes. The chicken spring rolls were awesome and the onion soup was scrumptious. A word of warning: in the small print on the menu it states that they MAY add 20% gratuity for parties of six and over. Well, they did and it turns out that we were the only couple to notice it. The other two couples added gratuity on top of their already high bill and didn't discover it until we were all talking about how expensive, albeit tasty, dinner had been. Between the six of us we spent nearly $500. The way to go, if you're on a budget, is to choose from the Fylte Fixe menu... that's three courses for $35.00. Double that for a couple, add a couple of glasses of wine and you're looking at $100 plus tip. All in all, we're glad we went and we'll definitely return for a special occasion or what not. Pros: Fantastic food combinations Cons: Too pricey more

Our new favorite 5/28/2008

Friends recently visited us for the weekend and we planned to take them to one of our favorite restaurants. Since they had eaten there before, they suggested we try something new. They had done some research and found a restaurant called ""Flyte"" which we had never heard of! We were excited after reading some of their reviews. Our experience was incredible, and in virtually every way lived up to or surpassed our preconceptions. We were surprised by the warmth of the interior (it is a warehouse but they have made it quite hip) compared to the starkness of the exterior. (Its almost like they are hiding over there!) Once we were greeted, the show began and oh what a show it was. I've never seen so many people who know so much and are so passionate about food and wine. Even the server-assistant who delivered our food knew virtually every detail on the plate - and there is a LOT of detail. So many sauces I can hardly remember what I ate. (The dishes are like paintings!) The unfamiliar wine list was also very (almost absurdly) detailed, but we're not wine connoisseurs so perhaps it was over our heads. We did end up with several delicious wines that we might not have tried without the tips from our server. And the service was perfect in every way, by the way: attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable and polite. To be fair, the restaurant was only about 3/4 full at the time, so they did have a lot of time to focus on our table. The food was sublime. Beautiful, fresh, super-flavorful and very creative. The good reviews were accurate! All in all, we absolutely loved Flyte. For balance (and hopefully their improvement), I should mention that the desserts didn't seem to be as creative as everything else, but they were tasty and we were about to pop anyway since we'd eaten so much. That reminds me: the portions are fair, but not very big. Also, everything is expensive, but no more so than others in their rank, and as the saying goes: you get what you pay for. more

I would have paid more for my $3 Yogurt than any meal here 5/24/2008

I would not recommend this place to anyone with a sophisticated palate or hearty appetite. The food here was way overpriced for what it was. I ordered a vegetarian dish and the dish was the size of my hand which was rather shocking to me considering vegetables are far cheaper than proteins; I figured they would load up my plate with veggies, tofu and orzo but that was not the case. I would have appreciated a small plate of food if it had unique and tasty flavors, but this reminded me of uncle Ben's rice coupled with a few veggies and tasteless tofu. My husband ordered the duck entree, which was nothing to brag about but it wasn't terrible. I could have done without the freeze dried cherries on there but otherwise it was a half decent meal. Overall, the service was impeccable, we LOVED the waiter. He was very attentive and had a great personality. The hostess and other staff members we met were all very polite too. Overall, I feel that if you're going to spend $35 for an entree in Nashville, please go somewhere else to get your money's worth. more

Simply the best in BNA. 5/8/2008

Best overall restaurant experience I have ever had. Loved the Blue Marlin! Great service. Easy access. more

Dinning for Diners! 3/5/2008

I don't know why it has taken me so long to write this review. My chef friend and I found Flyte about 7 months ago, and have been in love ever since. THIS IS WHAT DINNING IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE! We enjoyed five delicious and perfectly plated courses. The greatest thing about this was that we were able to taste so many things without feeling like we needed to be carried out of the building. Ingredients were fresh and never over seasoned. The vegetarian option was the best I've had in the city. Usually, in my experience, servers and chefs alike are annoyed when asked about a vegetarian option. Not Flyte! Every bite was a new taste experience, pairing creative sauces and purees with perfectly cut vegetables. I haven't eaten meat in 16 years and was convinced to at least taste the other options. The pork tenderloin and the short rib are to die for. Fall apart tender short rib with well matched flavors. Sigh. The servers are very knowledgeable and great with wine pairings from the unique wine list. The atmosphere is a compliment to the food and service alike. The plates are like works of art with so much attention to every detail. We take everyone we know to Flyte now, and because they are constantly updating the menu we are always pleasantly surprised. You pay for what you get and it's worth every dime. Bottom line, I cannot say enough good things about Flyte. Chic, well played atmosphere. Knowledgeable attentive service. Exciting wine list. Amazing food time and time again. Always an unparalleled experience. Thank you Flyte, finally someone gets it. Pros: Cuisine, wine list, service more

We Love Flyte 3/5/2008

On the recommendations of many friends and after reading the positive reviews, my wife and I decided to finally visit Flyte and see what the entire buzz was about. We arrived on a Friday night and greeted by two smiling hostesses that were very friendly and that promptly sat us at our table, which was thankfully a comfortable booth. The building has an original decor and relaxed lighting with an inviting atmosphere. Our friendly server was very knowledgeable about the menu items and of the wine list, which is very eclectic and exciting. It?s nice to see a restaurant striving to break the monotonous mold of typical wines and offer unique wines from all over the world. Some of the wines we had never seen before, but our server had no problem explaining them in detail and offered us a taste of anything we wanted to try. A nice touch indeed! We started with the beet scallop appetizer, which were some of the best I?ve had anywhere. Next we shared the salad flyte, which was the perfect size and gave us a chance to taste all the salads. Very cool! My wife ordered the grouper and I opted to try the pork loin. Both entrees were beautifully and skillfully presented and had the pride and craftsmanship of a great chef and kitchen. The portion size of both was perfect as well. Who really needs to eat 24 ounces of meat? And the flavors? Exceptional!!! All the components blended and complimented each other perfectly. Everything had its place on the plate and you could taste every flavor of the entree. Nothing was covered by a cheap sauce or by over seasoning. Fresh ingredients cooked properly and executed brilliantly! This is our new, much-loved place to eat and entertain family or friends. Highly recommended! This is a great restaurant for Nashville and we love it! Thanks Flyte! Pros: Wine list, service, food Cons: None more

Nashville's cutting edge 3/2/2008

Flyte has quickly become our go-to restaurant. We went with friends this weekend and had a blast. The food is simply out of this world, the service is attentive (but not annoyingly over the top), the room is inviting, and the wine list is unusual - in a good way. As the last reviewer pointed out, the portions are not Cheesecake Factory big, but I personally don't care for walking out of a place in a food induced coma. Not cheap if you do all the courses, but well worth it! Pros: service, food, wine list, atmosphere Cons: can get loud when full more

Overall - Not worth the trip 3/2/2008

I was expecting a lot from Flyte. Lots of recommendations from friends so I figured I'd give it a try. The restaurant itself is very nice. And I appreciated the service there. But when it comes down to it, you go to a restaurant for the food - and unfortunately it was lacking. more
