Our favorite dining in Nashville! This is our favorite restaurant for date night and before events at TPAC and the Schermerhorn. Menu selections are always fantastic and the wine ...

Poor bar Service 2/21/2008

My friend and I sat at the bar. I had to ask the bartender for a menu. Didn't ask if we wanted any food. Loved the wine I selected. We left for the poor service. Pros: Great Wine, parking is easy Cons: Poor service, bad area of town more

Vege-what now? 2/15/2008

I think it?s safe to say that when you?re seeking an excellent dining experience you assume that built into the price you will find an interesting and piquant assortment of dishes, an atmosphere to heighten the senses, and service which underwrites the entire experience. While Flyte World Dining and Wine was a charming setting for a Valentine?s date, the service did not follow through and the meal suffered. more

Great special occasion place! 2/1/2008

Great food and the servers are awesome and always entertaining! Corner booths are romantic, the bar is fun, and the chef really knows what he's doing. If you go through each course, it can get pretty spendy, but entrees only are very reasonable. more

Worlderful Experience but VERY expensive 1/27/2008

We had a birthday party for 20 people in the private dinning area over looking the kitchen, which was really cool. The food was great, and the wine selection was plentiful. The service was attentive and very helpful, food was served on time and exactly as we ordered. Here is the issue, dinner for (2) people with drinks was $325.00 Pros: Food Quality, Service, exciting menu Cons: Portions were VERY small and expensive, not a great part of town more

Best Dining Experience in Nashville 1/24/2008

Hubby and I went to Flyte for our anniversary. When making our reservations, I told them it was our anniversary, so when we arrived, we were seated in a great, back-corner table with a view of the entire room. We were given complimentary champagne as well. Our waitress was very helpful and offered suggestions when we asked, which was basically for every course of the meal plus wine. Pros: Service, Wine List, Ambiance more

Expensive, small portions for a Guy 1/21/2008

We went with friends for my birthday. The wait staff were excellent, the food was very nice and very expensive. All three males in our party left hungry. The quality of the food was great, but not nearly enough to satisfy a guy with even an average appetite. more

Enjoyable Landing at Flyte 1/14/2008

Our foursome decided to check out Flyte on 1-12-08. First of all, I wouldn't classify the location of the restaurant as ""seedy"". Upon arrival we were greeted by a smiling friendly hostess who informed us our table would soon be ready. After a brief wait, we were escorted to our table.I found the decor of the restaurant tasteful, although, I certainly would not describe the place as romantic. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter and we found her to be friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. She answered our many questions and provided us with some recommendations that we greatly appreciated, ie. the sauce on the chicken is ""a little salty"". We started with salads, I chose the Italy salad that was fresh with just the right amount of dressing and spice. My wife chose the Pecan Pie salad that she enjoyed immensly, with the others opting for the Flyte salad selection, (for an additional fee, you can sample all three of the salad selections) which they gave a thumbs up.Next the entrees, I chose the Colorado lamb which was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and was very juicy and tasty. Two selected the pork loin and one stayed with the Flyte theme(entree selection). Everyone agreeded that the quality of the food was very good, and the preparation and presentation was better than average. One down side for me was the wine list. Most of the popular American vineyards were represented with wine by the glass available, however, there was a lack of French wine selections. But hey, I'm a wine snob, so you'll probably like the wine list. Desserts followed dinner with the creme brulee Flyte, and the apple tart with capuccinos. The desserts were light, sweet and the caps brewed perfectly. There are other restaurants in this category that I like better than Flyte, but there are also many that I don't like as well as Flyte. All in all it was an enjoyable dining experience and I would return. more

One small thing. 12/7/2007

Having dinner with a group of business associates last night provided me with the most memorable meal I have had in Nashville. Pros: culinary bravura, wine selection more

Amazing Nashville Restaurant 10/17/2007

Last weekend we were in town for our 10 year Vanderbilt Reunion. We had reservations at Flyte with a large group of friends and could not have been more pleased! The wine selection was wonderful, the service delightful and the food just delicious! Nobody had a thing they didn't love-- and we all left very happy! Such a cool restaurant in such a great town. We sat in the room with a view of the kitchen-- so much fun to watch everyone in action! We will for sure be back when we return for our 15 year reunion! more

Most Romantic Restaurant in Nashville! 10/15/2007

My husband and I celebrated our 4th anniversary in Nashville. Being from Cincinnati, we used this site to find a recommended restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We had one of the finest meals we have ever had at a restaurant at Flyte. From the moment we entered the eclectic style building, we were in love. The ambiance is very romantic and definitely caters to an upscale yet trendy crowd. Our waiter made every attempt to make our meal as memorable as he could. He even offered to pair wines with each of our courses and split all of our selections between the two of us. As each course ended, we found ourselves craving more and eagerly anticipating the next selection. Our waiter did a wonderful job pairing wines/champagnes with each course and making suggestions on our meal selection. The chef did a fantastic job preparing each course and the presentation was out of sight! Each menu selection was made with innovative ingredients that paired well with each other. I highly recommend the Pecan Pie salad with the blue cheese ice cream, the short rib appetizer, and the shrimp appetizer. We spent several nights in Nashville and Memphis and each night I found myself craving the meal we had at Flyte. Be prepared, it is on the pricey side but well worth every dollar. Also, we were a little taken back by the location and exterior appearance of the restaurant but were pleasantly surprised when we entered the building. Cheers! Pros: The food and the service and....I can't forget the wines! Cons: The location/exterior appearance (you will get over this very fast!) more

Tacky 10/14/2007

The food was very good and the service was very good up until the end of the meal. As soon as we were done eating our server asked us to move to the bar because they had another party waiting to be seated. When the portions are small for the price its a big turnoff to feel rushed out. I would not recommend Flyte, there are plenty of places where you can spend your money on a good meal and not feel disrespected. Pros: Food is tasty Cons: Don't value their customers, expensive more

The best of everything! 9/6/2007

This restaurant is the best! All the wait staff were friendly and attentive. The food selections are diverse, and the food itself is just out of this world. The wine selections were wonderful and we had great help in the selection process. The atmosphere is friendly and warm and there is no question about the fact that my wife and I will be regulars!! Pros: everything was great more

The best restaurant in Nashville if not the entire southeastern US. 9/6/2007

This was very special visit for 10 of us. We ate in the ""kitchen stadium"" which gives a surprisingly entertaining observation deck for this equally surprisingly quiet cooking staff. It really is amazing to watch them cook and assemble the dishes with virtually no speaking. Just cooking and almost ballet like movement by the staff. Nothing at all at what I expected a kitchen would look and operate like. Pros: The entire experience from cocktails to desert. Cons: Not a place for children. This is clearly and adult restaurant. more

There is better in Nahville 9/6/2007

My wife and I are big fans of the other locally owned restaurants in Nashville so decided to give Flyte's a try for our anniversary. We were severely disappointed. The restaurant was excessively noisy, anything but romantic, but we could live with that. What we could not live with was the food. I started with a trio of scallops to start the meal, they were excellent. Unique flavors that I would not have put together but will now and it tasted delicious. My wife started with a salad that she enjoyed. If we would have left at that point we would have been happy. I followed the scallops with an entree of wild game with a cola reduction paired with potatoes. I was intrigued with the combination on the menu and after the scallops had high hopes. Extremely sweet, over the top can?t taste anything else sweet on well done meat! Very disappointing. Believe it or not my wife?s fish entree was even sweeter, as was her rice and everything else on the plate, nothing to cut the sweetness of her fish. She gave up and just ate the potatoes on my plate. We decided that the Chef had a sweet tooth that night, or switched the salt with the sugar. When the waiter asked if we would like to see the dessert menu my wife laughed and after he left said that she thought we had already eaten dessert. We both also had a flight of wine with our food courses. The wine alone was very good, but paired with overly sweetened food became lost. We hope that our experience was a fluke, we had heard good things about Flyte?s, but given the price of the dinner for the two of us versus what we were served we will not be going back to find out. more

Worth going to again and again. 8/17/2007

Nashville should have more restaurants like this. We have many great locally owned restaurants but Flyte is at the top. Excellent ambiance, very knowledgeable and approachable staff/management, great wine selection consisting of many unique wines from around the world and unique and flavorful foods are the norm. I've been many times and will return many more. Pros: Ambiance, food, knowledgeable staff more

Expensive Experience in the 'Seediest' part of town 8/16/2007

First, parking by the seediest ""Swinger's"" bar and a block from Nashivlle's biggest and oldest Adult Book Store I was already turned off and planned on making sure I was ready to make a bee line to the entrance to this place while praying I wouldn't wake up as a Human Slave. Secondly, the drinks are on the Top Highest Prices list in the Southeast. Made it nice being allowed to bring your own bottles of wine, making you appreciative and about $40 richer to pay for 1 salad and 1 entree. Third, out of a party of 8, only 2 enjoyed their meals. Even the 'Birthday Girl' was obviously so unhappy the manager and chef offered to bring her something else. Tiny portions of bland food at Ruth Chris' prices. I was the first to leave the party, accompanied by a male friend to my car.... Pros: Great decor and color of paint Cons: Too many to pay for more

Exciting and delicious 8/11/2007

Flyte was amazing. The only bad thing I have to say is it was a little pricey, but it is worth it. We had not made a reservation so we sat in the bar area, but the atmosphere was still great. You can choose from several different flytes of wine and they have unique imported beers to choose from. I had the scallop flyte and each scallop melted in my mouth. My husband had the spring roll flyte, yet again, amazing. The pecan pie salad was unique and divine, with blue cheese icecream. Our company got the corn soup, which they said was the best soup they had ever had. I ordered the elk and it was very tasty. I had it medium rare, not something I usually do but was suggested by the waitress and it was perfect. I would definately recommend Flyte to anyone, but will worn them of the price! more

bravo 8/3/2007

(1st timer) Very tasty & made me happy ... best service I've experienced in town. Mark, our pro server, was refreshingly well versed with both food & wine menus ... gracious & attentive, as well. (all the other tables seemed well taken care of, too, which is a good sign.) Pros: pro service, thoughtful-creative-tasty menu Cons: none that come to mind. more

Great Food and Wine 8/1/2007

Highly recommended and everything was perfect. Food was beautiful and the service is professional and timely. This is the best place in Nashville to eat and relax. The wine list is incredible and unusual. Pros: Great wines, service, and food! more

Flyte is a masterpiece 7/26/2007

My husband and I recently attended the ASOL (American Symphony Orchestra League) National Conference in Nashville. Several people pointed the way to Flyte, including our event organizers. To say we were not disappointed would be like saying the Schermerhorn is just another symphony hall. In other words... a HUGE understatement. Flyte is a masterpiece. We went twice, and both experiences were simply amazing. The food is absolutely magnificent, from ingredients to seasoning to texture to presentation. The hospitality of the staff and owners is beyond gracious. Both of our servers were remarkably knowledgable. The interior is nothing short of captivating. On the whole, both experiences were among the most memorable...well... that we can remember! Well done, Flyte. We'll be back next year.... twice. Pros: Attention to Detail Cons: We don't live in Nashville more
