I worked for Flooring World for about three years installing floating and glue down wood floors. I really appreciated the respect I receive from Ray and Steph on my instalation expertise. They consulted me on the installation process for every job I did for them. I cant say the same for any other flooring stores that I have worked for over the last 30 years. Flooring World represented themselves as a solid, family run, Christian business. We actually used them years ago on a small job at our rent property. But something has gone terribly wrong. We've been saving for 6 years to get wood floors in our home. We even did the back breaking demo of the old flooring ourselves to save money. We found the perfect product and Chad was so good to work with. We placed the order, gave them our 50% deposit, and that's when things fell apart. After two installation dates came and went with no one showing up, we drove by the store to find it vandalized and boarded up. Obviously, no one is responding to calls or emails either. But there's hope! Flooring World was a member of a purchasing group - Carpet One. I've contacted them and talked to Judy Potter. She is working with me to get my "stolen" deposit applied towards a purchase at another one of their member stores. She was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I suggest that anyone else who has fallen victim of Flooring World's unethical business practices contact Judy at 1-800-450-7595, ext 2303. The below "story" describes an immediate prob w/pay structure? Did"Tommy"read the contract he signed? It's normal to wait several wks b4 receiving a chk,it's structured that way to protect clients. Filing lien against a FW inc client home is illegal, finding tortious interference, slander &filing a false lien-listed under chapter 53 as the contract is between the client & FW. We stand by what has been said. Flooring World has no business ethics. You use the ill term so freely. We have been there but life goes on. You have no idea what other people are dealing with. We have 6 children. One of that has a learning disability, one has ovarian cysts,one has cancerous cells in her cervix, and one has to be monitored by oncologists because of the tumor that was removed at 4 days of age. Not to mention her surgeon, cardiologist,chief of pediatric urology and orthopetics. Don't give me your crap about how Tommy yelled at sick woman. He didn't yell or threaten I am sure that you would have called the cops if you felt threatened at any time. The man was never there or hiding. I had hardwood flooring installed by Flooring World Carpet One last year before the holidays and I was not happy with the outcome. The owner came right out and looked at my floor, then shortly after that, he brought the distributor and manufacturer (Armstrong-Robbins) when various boards were put together out of my remaining 1/2 used box you could clearly see that the milling was off and after installation it resulted in what I now know, is called "overwood." Armstrong only wanted to refinish my brand new pre-finished floors, but, Flooring World Carpet One fought against them for what I wanted! The new floor I purchased and had paid 1/2 down on, Flooring World Carpet One never asked for another pennie until the new floor was successfully installed and looked terrific-in my eyes! Though the whole thing took a while, they didn't stop fighting for us! I am now a life long, loyal customer of Flooring World Carpet One's. Customer Service was great, installers were great. We had had ceramic tile replaced in the kitchen, breakfast and utility areas and the hardwood floors refinished to look like brand new in the family room and entry. We had no idea the refinishing and changing of the wood color was possible, Thanks to Flooring World we save several thousand dollars on flooring replacement! This was done in March. We recently had a problem with a little storm called Ike, when a tree fell through one side of our house. Flooring World Carpet One were great with the help they provided, gave us special pricing because we were hurricane victims. We really appreciate having a contractor who would do what they said they were going to do. Also, they helped us with the insurance company! They were very nice. The staff and the installment crew. It didn't take near as long as we originally thought either. Pros: They seemed truely concerned with our problem and when left in their hands they got it handled Cons: nothing I can think of more

Through-out home ownership over many yrs & moves. We have had, roofers, heating-a/c contractors, painting crews, sheetrock men, carpenters/cabinet contractors, appliance repair men, furniture movers, plumbers, handymen, fence, garage door, window & door replacements, electrical contractors, pool co.Plus, we've built homes & of course counter-top & flooring contractors. On 7/08 we made the best decision we've ever made & we're very happy & relieved we selected Flooring world. Since it was going to be a major renovation to our home & more money was involved than I want to even think about(all@ once anyway )we searched high & low for a "feeling" we were giving our money to a company which would be at least as good as our so far "semi-reliable" experiences of past. I would have this "feeling" then my wife wouldn't & vise versa. However, when visiting Flooring World, the atmosphere was very comfortable, like we had known them & they had done work for us before(tho they hadn't)we were given plenty of time to make selections, we had an interior designer's opinion & everyone worked as a team. It's very family oriented while still being very large in the Flooring community. We found this out when we went to return samples checked out from some of the previous forerunners; other companies tried everything (incl devious)they could do, in order to change our minds. This induced greater confidence than ever, we had made a sound choice. I hate to go on & on about the great work, tho Flooring World not only had superior value but the installs were completed without complications. The workers stayed focused, worked hard & efficiently, cleaned up after themselves & met all expectations! This is a tall order considering the purchase was over $40k (the lowest bid & final pymt was as expected & signed for.) When we moved into our new home, the last thing we wanted to worry about was the flooring and other interior problems. We were pleasantly surprised how easy Flooring World made things We had them install Granite, a backsplash in the kitchen, tile in our showers, tub surrounds (beautiful patterns) fireplace & slate on the stairs! They did all of the flooring of course but we didn't know they did some of these other things; once involved they showed us pictures of previous kitchens they had completed and we found out they have Hunter Douglas window coverings (next project). This was one stop for everything in our home. They even hauled everything that they had removed or repaired and all of their debris, leaving everything very clean! Flooring world recently installed tile, stone, glass blocks, and some other things at my business property. We have been in business for 10 years and just became able to purchase our own property for building to work from. It was very important to us to have a professional beautiful building and installation job. Flooring World did all of the basic finish work, tiled the bathrooms, shower, flooring, wall tile, concrete staining, everything that makes a building shine! And Flooring World and their contractors truely shine above any other we've ever had in Houston! I wish we would've had them do our home, instead of the builder and their people. It seems they just throw everything in, where Flooring World is very careful and uniquely perfection oriented. It's refreshing to know there is a company like this in Houston. Thanks again you guys! Ok, I did it! I called Flooring World because I couldn't stand it any longer! Comparing my guest bathroom to my masterbath was just depressing! I know now why everyone is spending$500k in order to get a designer look from a home. My home was built 8yrs ago, as houses go that wasn't long ago. Designers have told me I just missed natural options for my home, when it was being built: granite counters, large tile on bathroom walls, wood plank etc. I mean it's a nice home & to have 16" tile in the kitchen, entry & baths was nice 8yrs ago. I've even seen many newer homes that have aweful linoleum where mine had 16" tiles. It took convincing from the designer at Flooring World that I would be doing myself & my home a huge favor by changing from a 16" to 18" tile with a slight color adjustment. I had my entire home re-designed with new flooring, counters, shutters, wall tile everywhere, but...the kitchen tile blew me away the most! We just had laminate completed in our house by Flooring World and it was flawless-I really did my research before I selected who I chose to buy from, I shopped price, warranty and even the (home depots&Loews)Flooring World had by far all of the above&great warranties: I have 90 days to make absoluetly sure my wife likes everything, color(whatever else wives go on&on about) and a lifetime installation warranty and their prices were equal to DIY pricing. I considered going to Georgia to pick-up the material& having a local contractor install it, but most of these contractors have little or NO warranties. Can you believe that if my wives friends talk her into hating the floor for any reason Flooring World will do the take up and re-install FREE! And tho our laminate install was perfect we did have 1 slight problem with the carpet; the guy forgot to tack down one area-Flooring World came out immediately tho and fixed it, whats really cool about the carpet, is that not only are the warranties the same as on the laminate but it also has a 25yr stain warranty; which covers mustard, wine, cat, etc. if anything stains the carpet they'll replace it for 25 yrs! I spent allot of money; but Flooring world was equal to the pricing where I would buy material and then get an installer, However they were much less than the big name flooring stores around Houston.
