Less Than Hip 4/19/2011

I purchased a dinner voucher (similar to Groupon) for Felt thinking it would fun to try the venue and I was intrigued by its offerings. I redeemed my voucher last evening and am sad I ever wasted the money. First of all, there was no host to greet my boyfriend and I when we walked in. I finally managed to talk to the bartender on duty and said we had a reservation and promptly received a response of, "we don't take reservations". Once he talked with the manager, the bartender (acting and looking rather haggard), sat us and again had to go talk to the manager when I asked him about the voucher. Every time he came to the table, it was obvious he was not a server and kept telling us that he was the only one working. My boyfriend quipped, "Well, I hope the cook knows what he's doing" and the bartender replied, "So do I". The bartender did not know basic things like what the soup of the day was, couldn't make a recommendation on the menu, didn't ask my boyfriend how he wanted his steak prepared, didn't clear appetizer plates before serving entree, etc. When he brought out the entrees, because he hadn't cleared the appetizer dishes, he put our meals at a nearby booth and said, "Just sit over here, there's more room". The booth seat cushions were disgusting and soiled from previous customers. You could see every spot/stain. It turns out that the bartender wasn't even a bartender, but rather a bar back who was responsible for attending to the entire first floor. Needless to say, this was not the "hip" night out that the voucher advertised. more

DO NOT OPEN A BAR TAB 4/4/2011

Female bartenders are the worst. Especially at this place. I realize that girls with fake boobs and blonde hair may attract men to spend money at the bar. But something must be said about the level of service being so poor at Felt. I opened a tab and ordered a total of 5 beers. When asked to close out my tab. The bartender gave me the incorrect credit card. This made me nervous. After fumbling around through other credit cards she finally locates mine. She brings me the bill and I notice that a Grey Goose and Red Bull charge was added to my bill. I explained to her that I did not order those items and the bill needs to be adjusted. She began to argue with me saying that I did order the drinks. Im not going to pay for something I did not order. It was obvious that she was confused from the start and did not want to take responsibility for her error. I asked to see a manager in which no one ever introduced themselves as a manager. The bartender them dropped off a bill that had those items removed from the bill. I then signed the bill with a $0.00 amount tip. I normally tip 20% but in this case I chose not to tip anything. Two days later I notice that my online credit card statement has as additional $20.00 charge. I'm pissed at this point. Trying to contact the business offices during the day is virtually impossible. Im being told different excuses as to why there's an additional $20 charge. Dont believe them when they'll say that someone will call you back. It never happens. Bottom line if you ever go to Felt DO NOT OPEN A BAR Tab. Pay in cash. This way you wont get overcharged for something you did not order. more

Good lord what a party! 3/23/2011

I was up in Boston (from NYC) for the weekend a couple of weeks ago and went to Felt that Friday night. There was some huge party going on and I couldn't resist! I had to wait a little while outside to get in, but once I did I had a great time! The place was packed but people were dancing, drinking and the music was great. Four floors, people! Wow! I met some great people and had a wonderful time. The ONLY reason I give four stars instead of five is because the place was so popular that night that they started closing off floors to people. I left the fourth floor for a minute and when I went to go back up, they said I couldn't because of fire code. Oh well. I don't know about a regular night, but on that evening, I loved this place. more

Ooh la la. 4/12/2010

Attention future rock stars in the making: the beauty of Felt is that it can be anything you want it to be, and the perfect place to bring two hundred of your closest friends for awesome VIP treatment. A dance club, some billiards, all under a blanket of tons of floors and VIP areas that you have to dole out money for (but well worth it!) It's seen some of my best and worst nights, and believe it or not, I've even been to a wedding here. Felt's a great place for a night where you can show off and buy rounds for your friends, see and be seen with all the right people, dance your heart out, or find a shady corner to get to know a stranger. Excess is in excess here at Felt, a no-brainer for livin' the lifestyle. Pros: A classy joint in the heart of Downtown Boston Cons: Expensive. But if you got the $$, who gives?! more

Great place, fabulous drinks, good music & fun times :)! 7/22/2009

Felt Boston is a great place to go whether it is at the Restaurant & Lounge or if you're looking to dance the night away at the Nightclub. They also off Billiards as well on the 2nd and 3rd Levels. Overall my experience here has been fine and I always have a great time when I visit. The staff and managers are very welcoming and nice also. I would highly recommend this as a party spot or if you were looking to also kick back and relax, too many. Either way Felt is a great place that offers something for everyone! Pros: 4 Levels, Good Music, Fun, Moderate Pricing Cons: Did not really have any problems... more

Wild times with a quality place. 11/2/2008

Great dance and music venue. I enjoyed every moment of my stay and will be back for much more. Thank you to the band as well. Pros: Everything Cons: None more

I guess there is new managment there so maybe thats the difference. We'll be back. Pros: Staff, Drinks, Billards more

great night club 1/10/2008

A group of us celebrate my birthday at Felt on Saturday night and it was awesome! We booked a VIP table on the fourth floor, the club floor, and it was totally worth it. We had a blast, the staff was excellent and the music was awesome. We are already planning another night out there. more

fun and trendy 1/10/2008

We went to Felt for a private party set up by our office with the events coordinator and everything from beginning to end was perfect. We booked the entire third floor which had pool tables, a private bar, and a buffet table set up just for us. The various appetizers were delicious, the waitresses and managers were friendly and accomodating which contributed to the trendy social atmosphere of the club. I had never been before this party, but I would definitely go back with a group of friends to check out the scene and enjoy all the ammenities it has to offer. more

Great party place 1/10/2008

Well, I'm a bit surprised at some of the comments on this because I went to Felt recently and had probably one of the best times in Boston I've had in a long time. I went there for my birthday a couple of weeks ago with 10 friends and had the night pre-arranged with one of the managers--(Todd I think?). We had reservations for dinner and then a nightclub package to go upstairs. Now...1) Most places in Boston don't even offer the options Felt offers; 2) dinner ambiance was great--they had an 80s band playing that night so it was kinda cool to have some extra entertainment; 3) going to the nightclub was smooth, no problems; 4) my waitress was excellent! It was a bit crowded but didn't have to wait for drinks at all. 5) one of the bouncers at the end of the night got me and my girlfriend a cab because we were a bit tipsy by the time we left. So overall people, I would stop the complaining...yeah the place is expensive, and of course like any club there will be issues that come up...but you are after all in a club, and you do live in Boston you know!!! I guess everyone's experience is different but it's only fair to attest that mine was AWESOME! Pros: lots of options, great scene, nice interiors Cons: stairs, lots of them more

felt 1/8/2008

We went there for dinner on a Thursday night. Great atmosphere whether for a first date with wine and excellent food, a girl's night out with drinks and appetizers, or an after work drink with a co worker. It was a restaurant that catered to various occasions with a low lit bar, plasma tvs, and music at the right sound level for once. The service was efficient and friendly and the grilled shrimp cocktail and lobster ravioli were just two of our delicious choices from the sophisticated menu. Highly recommended. more

worst new year's party!!! 1/2/2008

After looking up online for a New Year's party we found Felt's online add .The ticket costed 60 dollars, however, the club offered 2 hours of sushi and champagne toast all inclusive . The advertisement looked quite promising - the music choice would be: electronic ,techno, trance ,dance, and everything else but hip hop or rap. Finally, after a long wait we got in and the first floor did not look so bad, however, after going to the second floor the place looked like a cheap pool table lounge. We came back down stairs and paid 50 dollars for four of the worst drinks that made myself look stupid for spending that much money for a lame drink that had taste of regular soda. I spoke to some waitresses and asked about the sushi and they said they would start serving it soon, however , until the end of the party I did not see even one plate going out.. On the second round of drinks (another 50 dollars), we have to change our drinks to vodka since the bartender could not find the whiskey bottle , and by the way, we had to purchase extra shots of vodka because the drinks did not have any in it .That night not only I was unsatisfied with the bar service but bunch of other people around me were constantly asking to have their drinks fixed making me realize how abd bad the drinks were . After a couple of hours of disappointment we decided to go and speak to the DJ to change the hip hop music to something more festive . Our attempts were ignored by the DJ-girl ( it seemed like she didn't know what is going on that night)until one of the doorman who felt probably really bad for the crowd's disappointment. He started up with a few nice " club" songs and wormed up the crowed, but than when he had to take off the previous girl messed up all the music setup again - very poor performance as a DJ. By midnight the countdown was followed by another rap song and no champagne toast. Thank you Felt for the worst New Year's Eve in my life experience!!!!!! Pros: When is time to leave the place... Cons: All of it!!! more

Hot waitresses/bartenders... and... thats it. 12/5/2007

I have been to Felt a handful of times and each of those times have greatly admired the bartenders. I should have taken the time to look around and notice the crowd (or lack thereof). In the 5 times I went there, the last being 2 weeks ago, there was no consistency. A month ago I walked in and they had satellite radio playing (which can have cool music) but the signal kept going in and out!! It was so annoying! Another time there was a DJ playing a terrible inconsistent mix of music (I actually preferred the patchy satellite radio). We changed floors and paid a cover charge to go into their club which was barely 1/3 full and was FREEZING. The first time I was there in the spring of '07 I thought it was as advertised, upscale and trendy, and it was some kind of social event that or professional group but my friends and I haven't had a good time there since. We gave it several chances, but we won't be back. It's expensive, they serve weak drinks, and it's more likely a to be a bad than good night as far as good looking people. It's out of the way, and tough to go elsewhere by the time you realize it's a bad night. Pros: good looking bartenders that can't bartend Cons: bad area, not consistent atmosphere/music/vibe, expensive parking, isolated more

Felt Feels Awful 11/25/2007

Boston, I truly wish there was something good to say about Felt, bad fortunately for anyone seeking a memorable time in Boston, there's NOT ! Could there be any worse place to visit!? I couldn't agree more with the previous review that was written. Felt's "cover up" crew is doing there very best to fool and pacify the general public. They are trying to make us all believe that this is a hot spot, but I wonder how could than be true? When the service, layout, atmosphere and hospitality is as cold as ice. If you want rude, incompetent people to service you than Felt is for you my friends! Call all of your friends, text them, email them, write a letter, tell them all that you have found Boston's one stop entertainment dumpster! If Felt and their team of dishonest con artists are successful, this may not even reach any of you. I just hope that honesty reaches you all in time, before you have the worst night of your lives. I have had dates, after dinner meetings, and friendly get togethers ruined based on what Felt considers "good service". I am not one to bl*w a whistle.. but I will crank a fog horn in your direction so that you do not experience what I and so many others have had to. Chin Up Boston! Sincerely, A Friend. Pros: NONE Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE.. more

Lousy Time on New Years 11/22/2007

I was just reading other reviews below, I'm glad I'm not alone. Although Felt has the impression of a nice upscale spot through it's ads and email blasts (which I fell for), I've never seen more of a rip-off spot in my life. Me and my girls went there last New Years and overpaid for the tickets, coat check, drinks and even the security people made us tip them. It seems that they do what you can to get you in and then, completely mistreat and disregard you. I would not recommend this spot to anyone, especially on New Years. Trust me. Pros: Not going there again Cons: Had to go there once (Service, cost, treatment, management) more

Worst experience at Felt Boston 11/15/2007

My dining experience was about the worst I had ever had. I felt totally discrimated against, I dont think I saw the waiter more than once, I never was asked if I needed another drink or even how my food was, which by the way was delivered cold. Even when my order was being taken I felt as though the waiter wasnt even listening and I was right, he had given me the wrong order, not once, but twice, and finally my food was delieverd cold after having to ask another waitress what the problem was and in fact was there a "problem" meaning with my height, she made excuses but I had seen how attentive he was at his other tables. Being a person with dwarfism I was made to feel uncomfortable, people were being waited on who had come in after me. I had brought a friend in from out of town and raved about this restaurant only to be embarrased and humiliated especially from someone I was trying to impress on a first date, it was very obvious. Bad service, cold food, and unprofessional waitstaff, I dont recommend this place to anyone! more

NEVER AGAIN! 11/6/2007

My friend and I are from out of town and bought tickets (ahead of time, online) to the Felt Halloween party based on the reviews it had in the past and the way the club presented itself online. We thought it was going to be a great time. I had even called ahead of time to look into VIP tickets but my call was never returned (that should have been a red flag that this so-called ?great night club? was going to be lame). Although the Halloween party did end up being in the middle of the World Series...there was no need for the whole thing to be shut down and for $ to not be refunded in that case. I understand the game being on, it was important, but instead of having this great DJ that they promised, we listed to the game ALL night. During commercials I believe some music was played but even Boston locals were mad that the play by play was being played instead of the music. Basically, it was a bunch of people dressed and up in costumes, paying for pricey drinks, sitting around watching baseball. When I complained to the hostess she told me she couldn't do anything so I asked for a manger, she told me "they were busy with other problems". I spotted the manger in the bar and approached him with my complaint (very politely) his response "what am I suppose to do?". I told him we didn't expect anything but I just wanted him to know we were displeased with the bar and the service. He just shrugged me off. I work in the hospitality business and no matter what, you go above and beyond to make all guests happy. Even if all you can do is apologize. The bathrooms were also horrible. I bet all the celebrities that they picture on their website didn't have to go into those horrible things. Ever heard of "bathroom attendants"? Even small city Minneapolis where we're from has them in no name clubs. There was no toilet paper and no paper towels by 10:30 p.m. ...GROSS. We even took pictures of the bathrooms to show people how gross it was, ridiculous! more

pretty good bar 7/5/2007

I like it's setup, but not the best place around... It really depends on the nice, sometimes it's packed, sometimes it's not as good more

had to wait for a table, wasn't fun 2/28/2007

it's a nice scne and all but it's too expensive to play pool and many employees have major attitudes. the bar snacks are good, though. more
