I had shutters made for my home and ordered more and the company was not able to fill the order. I did get my deposit back through Costco. I want to order shutters from a reputable company that are in the same style as the Elizabeth Ashley shutters. Can anyone advise what company to go with? more

A couple of years back, Elizabeth Ashley came out and installed 2 shutters-3 months, no problems. So when we decided to put more shutters up, of course, we contacted them and paid $2000 down. We were again told 3 months. This was in March. So in June, I called to schedule the installation, but they were ""behind in production"" and would schedule for mid-September. They set a firm installation date of September 15th. When September rolled around, I called again to confirm the appointment. Donna, the customer rep was so sorry, but they were still ""way behind on production"" and they would now have to switch to November for installation. She told me if cancellation was an option for me to fax to accounting and they would contact me. She would not tell me if I would be refunded. I sent the fax and left her a message to confirm receipt. The next day, I called, and their number was disconnected. Fortunately, I called my credit union, and they filed a dispute and chargeback. I just found out today (45 days later) that Elizabeth Ashley never responded to the chargeback, so I was very lucky and got all of my deposit back. In the meantime, I got new shutters already installed with a reputable company-in one month. Avoid Elizabeth Ashley like the plague-they even sent out postcards advertising their business with coupons when they had already filed for chapter 11! Totally dishonest crooks! more

I ordered shutters from this company because it was a kiosk in COSTCO. Yes, that reliable company who ALWAYS stands behind their products. I could have gone with Home Depot or Lowe's or any of the many other plantation shutter companies, but I chose Elizabeth Ashley because of the Costco reputation. Well Elizabeth Ashley shutters and all their affiliated companies have filed for chapter 11 as of October 4, 2007. I paid the company almosts $6000 for our shutters. We are still waiting for the last shutter. Is was order March 29, 2007. They rescheduled 4 times. The last time, they mentioned having trouble but assured me that the shutters would be delivered. I called to confirm and they are in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Another reason why I chose this company was their LIFETIME guarantee on their shutters. Where do I go now?? Pros: Quality of shutters (if they ever install them!) Cons: Bankrupt and no more lifetime guarantee more

The company has filed for Ch. 11 bankruptcy in Orange County. I understand that the debtor (EA Shutters) made a motion to the court to be allowed to fulfill its obligations on outstanding orders, but that the motion was denied. I haven't seen the actual court file though. If anyone has additional information, please feel free to call me at 619-744-2242. As of today, October 9, there is no operator available at the company. I suspect operations have shut down. I am really ticked off because, after mutliple delays, I specifically asked a Customer Service representative, whether the company was going out of business and she assured me that they were not. If I learn more information about what's going on in the bankruptcy, and whether EA will be allowed to fill existing orders, I'll post again. Jennifer K. We ordered shutters from this company twice (via Costco) in 2006 and both times with a great experience. This year when we wanted to order more we went to Costco but they no longer had the booth set up so we went directly through Elizabeth Ashley. We placed an order for $1800 worth of shutters in July 2007 and paid a 50% deposit. I have been trying to call the company for the last 3 days and can not get through to a person. The extension the sales rep left with us says ""you have entered an invalid extension"" and when you press 0 for operator it just rings and then says ""the operator is unavailable"". Now I have just read the two previous entries about how the company filed for bankruptcy and I am getting very nervous. I ordered from Elizabeth Ashley Shutters in 2006. Shutters were custom built and installed about 4 months later. Based on prior experience, I ordered additional shutters in April 2007 for nearly $5,000. I was told that the standard 3 month window would apply. I understood that there could be some minor variance. I was told told to expect installation in early July. In mid-July, having not heard anything at all from the company, I called and was told that the factory was running behind and that installation was not likely until October 2007. I explained that this was not acceptable and after speaking with a supervisor, was given a late August installation date and a promise that this was a firm date. This week I received a call from Elizabeth Ashley Shutters stating that my August installation was being cancelled as the factory was still experiencing delays. I was told that the order is non-cancellable. So far, I have not been offered any significant economic adjustment. Pros: Quality of the shutters is excellent Cons: Customer service very poor.
