This is probably not kosher, but I need your help. A few years back, we took our mom (in her eighties) for a spa pedicure at Elan - a whole new experience for her, I assure you! She was very hesitant, but Diane was WONDERFUL, and did an excellent job on her old, arthritic feet. Our shy mother felt at ease w/ such a lovely woman. Unfortunately, the next time we made an appt, Diane had moved on, and since then we haven't been able to find such a caring, COMPETENT person, and mom hasn't had a decent pedicure since. Would any of you know what salon Diane moved to? TIA! Pros: She did a great job! more

POOR front desk/phone picker upper 1/29/2009

I called to find out how much wedding updos cost and also if they were open on 7/4 (Saturday). I called many places and realized that the usual responses for that day is 1. they are closed 2. they can have the stylist come to my house. SO when I called I informed the girl about my situation and wanted to see what they usually do in situations like this. Her response... "I wouldn't know b/c I didn't work here last year." And left it at that..... I thought that was very rude esp. since she didn?t have a follow up of like telling me she?ll get back to me about that date. So then I responded and asked her to ask someone that would know better than her and call me back. She never called back. After reading many responses about Elan, and personal experiencing their bad customer service, I would never go there for anything. Go to Elizabeth Grady that is across the street. I haven?t tired that particular one but I?ve been to the one in Boston and Andover and loved them both. more

Not what I had expected, some serives okay, others not so much 1/1/2009

I never been to a spa before, but I recieved a gift certifcate from a fan of mine so I obviously went to try it out. I went on the website before, and pictured it being a relexing place with all these pro's working there. They did get me in for a haircut, mani and pedi the day before christmas, an i called that day. So that was a plus. It seemed busy but then again day before Christmas lots of men coming in to buy gift cerficates. The girl who did my haircut, did a good job and was very nice and social. We were both the young and shared similair tastes, so maybe I am biased. For the price though, yeah I could have probably gotten the same cut cheaper. Now, my pedicure is next. I was brought into an empty room with about 5 chairs to get your pedi. The lady was having a good conversation and brought me tea, that was nice. however, i was in the only chair that didnt have a remote to turn on the massage. I would have asked her if I could turn it on, but I couldn't get a word in. You see, her 5 yr old daughter (in pajama's) kept running in an out of the room, she was cute, but the flyer said no children unless they are getting services done. so why an employee gets to have her daughter literally running around in pj's and a robe isn't beyond me. they didnt even have the tool to make a line with the nail polish, when i asked two emplyee's looked at each other and said rather rudely, they didn't carry a striper nailpolish brush. geez, i wasn't asking for gucci logo's on my nails, just a strip of glitter on my big toe. for my mani, she was giving me a fill, but she did it so quick, no cutting cuticals, sanding or buffing them down, nothing. because of that, my fill look bad a week later. they are chipping off at the bottoms. dont get me wrong, she was really nice, and we did have a good conversation, but it's just not what i expected from a salon. It wasn't a horrible experience, but not one i would spend money on again either. more

A women that I work with always had great looking hair, so i asked her where did she have it done. .."elans,Pam" so I went to see her, she gave me an awesome haircut! AVOID AT ALL COSTS 7/3/2008

I booked an appointment at the Natick location one week in advance for a prenatal massage and pedicure. I called 3 days before to confirm (although they should have done this) and they said I was all set. I arrive looking so forward to the next few soothing hours only to find that they have no appointment for me. Three women were "working" (sitting around painting each others nails) not one single customer. This should have been my first clue that I was probably lucky they did not have any appointment for me. I would avoid this place at all costs, lack of professionalism and complete cluelessness is no way to run a business. Not sure how they are still around. Pros: NONE Cons: You name it more

I wish I came here first! 7/1/2008

If I came here first, maybe I'd be heading into the weekend with a fresh cut and color (but after reading this - I'm not sure if I would even if I did get one foot in the door!). I made an appt last week to go in this week - I have never been there before. So 2 days before my appt - they call me to let me know that the person who they made my appt with isn't working that day. So I figured everyone makes mistakes - I'll call and reschedule. The woman I spoke with seemed like she had no idea what was going on, nor did she care. I figured I'd just reschedule - get past the front desk and everything would be fine! I rescheduled for the day after my original appt. I come home today to ANOTHER message from them telling me that the person they rescheduled my appt with wasn't working that day. Unreal! Do they use an appt. book there? They need some serious customer service training. Although I didn't make it in the door, I'm totally unimpressed. Cons: Extremely unorganized and unprofessional more

ELAN ROCKS!!!! 6/26/2008

I am so very pleased with Elans day spa. I was in last week for a facial, and wax. (Brazilian) and for all the women out there who have had Brazilians done then you know just how awkward those can be. She made me feel very comfortable and it was all over in less then 10 minutes FABULOUS! Then on to the most amazing facial I have ever had.(I have been many many placed before including top end spas all over Boston) I saw a new employee there her name is Janine. This was by far the best experience I have ever had at a spa. She is definitely a rare find in the spa industry I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great experience. This is the place to go for an intimate service and large parties 6/22/2008

Elan has it all, they were so nice to me and my bridesmaids. We were taken on time and everyone looked and felt like princesses. If you want superior service with a beautiful atmospher this is the place to go. Thanks for the great day, we'll be back and tell our friends how great elan is. DON'T GO TO THIS MORONIC SPA--SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE 5/11/2008

DO NOT GO HERE. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I was going here with my bridesmaids and after we confirmed with them 4 times we go there and they had no reservations at all for us and only one person working that day. I had people driving from other states to come down and share this special day and they completely screwed up everything. All they would say was, i don't know what to tell you. Even the manager was awful who said well come back during the week or next weekend. Not offering anything else but for us to inconvenience everyone and do that, I dont think so. They never even took responsibility for THEIR mistake. We took our business elsewhere.. but how many times should you have to call and confirm your appointments, i guess more than 5 times to get it right with a business full of MORONS. more

Rude, Unresponsive to theft 11/10/2007

Hi, I wanted to share a bad experience I had at Elan Salon and Day Spa in Canton and hopefully spare you the same grief. I've been to the spa many times and have purchased gift certificates for friends and family there. I was there for a haircut last Saturday and someone went home with my leather jacket (I thought by mistake a week ago). It has been a week and I've been so disappointed with the spa's response. The woman at reception basically said there is nothing she can do. My stylist at least said she would call and leave messages with people who were in the salon the same time I was. After not hearing anything for four days, I called back the salon and was treated rudely and put on hold for long periods. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that they would give her a message (but would not give me her name or number). She never called me so I called the RI spa and they gave me her voicemail. She never returned my call. I should say that I was polite and patient for the first four or five days and then I have become frustrated at the lack of responsiveness, and a total lack of apology from a place that claims to rejuvenate and relax you. I've noticed that people share good finds and bad finds in this group so I thought you should have a heads-up about Elan and might consider taking your business elsewhere after hearing about my experience. more

Cut and Color. Great stylists! Nice comfortable atmosphere 11/5/2007

We also enjoyed a mother and daughter day. Our Facial was also wonderful. I had my youngest daughter get a teen facial to get her into the habit of taking care of her skin. The staff was very informative on proper skin care going through her teen years and also gave me some new tips I hadn't heard of for my own skin. My daughter loved it - I'll be returning soon myself! I have tried this salon 3 times. First time my appointment was not listed. Second time I spoke with a very rude young women. When I asked her to make sure that my appointment was booked and then explained to her what happened the first time her response was "these things happen". My final and last appointment was 20 minutes late, the manicurist kept disappearing between coats of polish. I called the Cranston headquarters and had to speak to the same rude young women. just want to say that elans is the most professional salon in Boston. The staff there are extremely friendly and professional. Every experience I have had there by far is the best. Hungover on the job 9/10/2007

I usually never write reviews but this time, I just have to. I've been going to Elan since the day they opened in Canton. Most of my experiences have been unpleasant. There was always something wrong with booking appointment or the waiting time. I once had to wait more than 1 hour between services. I had an appointment for a facial on a Saturday morning. The esthetician led me to the facial room, told me that she drank too much the night before and not to be offended if she needed to run out of the room at some point because she wasn?t feeling well. She then walked out to get a glass of water. I could hear her being sick in the bathroom next door... After 20 minutes, she finally came back as I was on my way out to reschedule my appointment with someone else for Sunday morning. The next day, the receptionist called me to cancel my appointment because the other esthetician called in sick. I?m very disappointed to say that this was my last visit at Elan Day Spa in Canton! I am extremely unsatisfied with the service Elan has offered me and will not be going back and will not be referring anyone either. You offer a service to your clients, the least your company can do is hire employees who not only have the experience but the tact that comes with offering spa services. Frankly, I did not need to know the esthetician had too much to drink the night before my appointment. That is not my problem nor should I, as a paying customer, have to deal with what I believe was her lack of tact and responsibility. more

I have been comming to elan since it opened i would say six years. I would never go anywhere else. I call the day of and am always able to get in even if they are squeezing me in. There are several massage therapists on board who are the best. This salon prides itself on accomodation. I would tell anyone to come here. best hair stylists in the area 5/10/2007

I AM NEW TO THE AREA AND CALLED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR A FOIL AND HAIRCUT... I ASKED THE RECEPTIONST WHO SHE WOULD RECCOMEND AND SHE TOLD ME KELLY... I WENT THERE AND HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE...SHE WAS TEN TIMES BETTER THEN MY OLD STYLIST WHO I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH... Good services, room for improvement 5/8/2007

I scheduled a massage and facial at Elan and although I had to call back and reschedule a couple of times -- the receptionist was accomodating. The services I received were both pretty good, but not as great as experiences I've had elsewhere. The walls were a little thin, so I could hear lots of outside noise that was a bit distracting. However, I must say that the ladies who performed my services were extremely friendly and also quite professional. I arrived early for my appointments so I had some time in the waiting area -- that I did not find particularly warm or inviting, which is something I come to expect from a business that is supposed to cater to relaxation. Since I had to sit in the waiting area for a little while, I noticed that the receptionist (not the same person I had spoken to on the phone multiple times -- I always note names) was not particularly professional. She was loud and complaining about her wages to other members of the staff. While I understand complaining, you should at least wait until patrons are out of earshot. When I was finished with my services and waiting to pay, she continued on a personal phone call for a few minutes before acknowledging my presence. Maybe a little extra managment would be well advised -- comfortable seats in the waiting/reception area would also be welcome. Pros: Friendly staff, good services Cons: Unprofessional reception, needs warmer waiting/reception area more

Best Pedicure Party ever 5/7/2007

My friends and I went to Elan for my pedicure wedding party. They have a great room for pedicures. We were able to have it all. It's a great place to get away and enjoy. I can't wait to try the spa services! Pros: All the great stores around it more
