Great customer service! I was overwhelmed when filling for bankruptcy. My attorney informed me that I had to get an appraisal since this was the best way to prove the value of my house. He recommended East Coast Appraisal Service to me. Since I work two jobs, my availability for an appointment was extremely limited. When I called their office and explained my situation I was told the appraiser would be calling me within 20 minutes to set up an appointment that was convenient for me. Within 10 minutes the appraiser called and actually came to my house at 6 pm on a Sunday night. Within 48 hrs I received a call from my attorney that he already received the appraisal report and not to worry. I was so relieved. It's good to know that there are still companies out there that practice what they preach when it comes to customer service. more

I have a law practice located in Manhattan that specializes in estate planning and eldercare. As you can imagine real estate appraisals are a very important component in the overall planning of my client’s estates. I have been using East Coast Appraisal Service exclusively for the past 5 years. Their professional manner and knowledge of just not the property and location but also of the circumstances put them a cut above any other appraisal company I have used in the past. Their reports whether commercial or residential are always well prepared and turned around in a timely manner. I recommend them highly. more

Recently my aunt passed away and as her executor one of my duties was to get her coop unit appraised. I am in the technology business and knew little about real estate valuation. I found East Coast Appraisal Service on the internet and gave them a call. I was transferred to one of the owners, Steve Ellsworth. He spent about fifteen minutes explaining the process to me including the difference between a coop and a condo. We made the appointment for the inspection two days later. My aunt had been in a nursing home for some time and even before that did little in the way of modernization. I was told that the condition of the unit would definitely be considered in the value. About four days later our attorney and I received an easy to read professional report. I was in the attorney’s office the other day and he mentioned to me that he had used East Coast for two other valuation matters and was very pleased with both the quality and their service. more

DO NOT EVER USE 2/14/2012

Do not ever use this company!! This company was chosen by the bank to do my refinance appraisal, and they did a horrible job. 4 of the 6 comparables had factual mistakes that were easily verified on PropertyShark, Zillow and Trulia. One comparable was $200,000 lower than reality, and another was $125,000 lower than the true sales price. It was to the point that I thought the appraisal was biased to return a low number. I filed two appeals, and they would not change the appraisal or even acknowledge the mistakes. This cost me a month of effort, a lower refinance amount and spoiled the entire refinance experience. It was so bad that I intend to file a complaint with the State Department of Licensing. Save yourself the headache. more

We have been doing business with East Coast Appraisal Service for over 10 years and have assigned them many high-end and complex assignments throughout the 5-boroughs along with the Hamptons. The value on many of theses properties, especially in Manhattan, typically exceed $1,000,000.00 Our Borrowers were impressed with their professionalism and demeanor. Their appraisal quality and turn around time were good. They worked well with our large processing staff and were willing and flexible to accommodate the typically busy schedules of our high-net worth borrowers. more

Great Appraisal 5/18/2011

I found East Coast appraisal on an online search for a New York State Certified appraiser because a family member had passed away and my CPA requested an appraisal for the estate tax. The appraiser scheduled a convenient appointment and the report was delivered on time and as promised which is a rare thing these days. They were professional and courteous throughout the entire process. My CPA was impress with the appraisal report. more

Take Your Money Elsewhere!! 5/21/2007

After a pleasant conversation over the phone, I decided to order an appraisal from them. They took my payment right away and assured me that my appraisal would be done by Friday, but no later than Monday. Pros: They were able to take payment over the phone. Cons: They did not deliver the appraisal when they said they would. more
