Mixed Experience 5/18/2011

The staff at Driver's Auto Repair was quite courteous. The work included: replacing the oxygen sensor, clearing my "Check Engine" light, and verifying operation/condition. After the work was completed, the Jeep was only driven about 10 miles before the "Check Engine" light reappeared. And now after looking at the cost of these oxygen sensors online with competitors, I find that Driver's Auto Repair price is about 3-times higher. This is REALLY disappointing. more

Well I wasn't going to provide any comments, however, since I was asked... I've come back to Driver's Auto a few times now and have been impressed with the service. I was a bit concerned with the charges at my previous visit for A/C service. This A/C service the charges exceeded the prior visit by ~25% and it appears that less work/parts were necessary. I understand the vehicles are different however $1000 for a few minor parts/labor seemed high compared to the $700 bill I paid for major parts/labor the last time. They tried to ease my concern by offering to comp a few items (oil change & inspection)...however, I was unable to use the inspection because the shop couldn't perform inspections on Pre-1996 vehicles (dyno not working). I was also disappointed that a few of the old parts (gasket ring & siphon tube) were left on the inside cowl under the hood with some grease. I had to remove them and clean the area afterward. I don't mind paying extra if I get extra, but this service, I really felt like I got "taken for a ride". more

I have doubts that the tires were rotated. The left front was slightly low when I arrived and it looked exactly the same later that evening. more

Found Steering problem 4/10/2011

Finding my front wheel bearings were shot on my 11 year old Suburban and replacing them has made all the difference in the world. Front end very tight now and doesn't drift any more. Good job and the cost was reasonable. more

They honored the warranty but... 4/5/2011

got some work done 1 1/2 years ago for an oil leak. car is now leaking oil. brought it in...they said the leak was a new problem and not a part of anything they replaced 1 1/2 years ago. so they charged me $250 to repair it. 5 days after that $250 repair car is leaking oil again. Comes to find out that YES it was something they supposedly fixed 1 1/2 years ago! SO THEY FIXED SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T NEED FIXING AND CHARGED ME $250 FOR IT. but they did honor the warranty and fixed it for no charge. But I feel that they were guessing what the REAL problem was the whole time. Finding an honest mechanic is NOT easy. more

They think everyone is an idot and the manager should work at Burger King. Everything they want to fix is $1000 plus dollars. Millstead bid a job $600 cheaper. They will try to get you to fix everything on your car even if it don't need fix. STAY CLEAR unless you got a grand to blow. more

I am concerned with the last two visits to your shop. The first was when my wife brought in our tahoe to fix a multi function switch and you wanted nearly a thousand dollors to fix it. Well I got it fixed at a dealer for 325.00 with a new switch. Then my wife calls and said after getting the oil changed on our new truck you tell her that there is another thousand dollors worth of stuff that needs to be changed.I had her take it to the same dealer and ask if the things that you said were bad were and they told me no. You said that the reason the tire light comes on is because my ball joint was bad on that side. The funny thing is that when I took the same truck in to get an oil change 3000 miles prior to this one that my wife did just yesterday the 19th of March 2011 you never told me of any other problems. If this is the way you like to do business then you can rest assured that you will not get any more of mine. I think that it is really sad when you try and take advantage of women like that. I will be coming in to get the rest of my oil changes that my wife bought, the same special that I declined when I was there, you sold to my wife. more

Disappointing 3/15/2011

I was highly disappointed with the recent servicing of my two vehicles. I've been going to the Louetta & TC Jester location for 2-3 years now, and I've always felt like they were honest and would take care of my vehicles. The "customer service" as not bad as I was treated courteously and taken care of as usual, however they forgot to rotate and balance my tires (purchase oil change & tire combo package), so I had to take it back right after I picked it up. They didn't change out my stick for my next oil change reminder. After working on my vehicle for about 5 hours on Saturday, my vehicle still wasn't ready by 7pm so they had to keep it until Monday to finish out the tune up. They delivered my vehicle to my wife at our home address, however it sounded like crap and not something I just paid $1,600 for. I cannot begin to express my disappointment and the unfortunate thing for us is that we've paid for 5 oil changes ahead of time for each of our vehicles so if we don't bring them back for this service ever again we'll have lost another $500. Hopefully someone will read this and care, and do something to make this right and regain a loyal customer's confidence. more
