Doug Gorton Professional Painting

Hiring Doug Gorton to paint the interior of our 2500 sq ft home was one of the best decisions I've ever made as a homeowner. Doug gladly came all the way out to our home a second time to discuss colors with me, and he did not steer me wrong. I am delighted with every color we chose and even more delighted with the quality of the work. The application where the colors meet the white ceilings and baseboards is virtually perfect. We have several accent walls with a light color facing an adjoining wall painted a darker color, and the line between light and dark color is perfect. I don't think you could ask for a higher quality paint job than Gorton's crew provided. Since they painted our home, I find myself checking out the paint in other people's homes, and there is simply no comparison to my home. I had another company bid on the job in addition to Doug, and while Doug was more expensive, it was only by about $200. Plus the crew finished the job well ahead of schedule and left our home much cleaner than I'd expected; they even swept our dining room and foyer before they left. Hiring Doug's company was money well spent. Our home looks gorgeous! more

I reviewed the comments made regarding his service and contacted him for a quote. His reputation rang true. They were prompt, professional and concientious. I was having diffuclty picking out a color scheme, but Doug made a special trip to my home to help with the decision. We LOVE it. The curbside appeal of our home now feels warm and inviting. They did an excellent job repainting the interior of our pre-war bungalow, including the trim and ceilings. There was more than a week's worth of preparation. The crew was very professional. The other painters I contacted for bids were unorganized, or didn't follow up, or otherwise indicated they were untrustworthy. Some take no pride in their work, speckle your wood floor with paint, and break things without telling you, hoping you won't notice. Doug Gorton's crew is, on the other hand, very professional. They did what they promised to do, and some extra as well. They are very expensive compared to some painters, but we saved our pennies and wanted it done right. Their bid was comparable to that of other pro-style painters, and given the number of hours they put into our job, it's well within reason. When we get enough budget for the exterior of our house, we will contact Mr. Gorton and ask for his crew lead, Pilo, to head up that job too. They're great. more

Doug's crew did a beautiful job with our master bed/bath paint job. Resurfaced all walls and repaired ceiling where there had been remains of an A/C leak. more

I frequently called to ask questions, raise concerns, and just being nervous about the large job that they were to be completing. I contracted Doug Gorton Painting to finish the garage on my new house with paint, texture, and baseboards. They did a great job on the paint and texture. I had a few questions about the baseboards but they followed through until I was completely satisfied. more

Doug fixed the water damaged dry wall in the ceiling (extremely tall ceiling) in our family room expertly and matched the paint perfectly. Doug had previously painted almost all the rooms in our house; so there was never any doubt as to whom we would call to repair the ceiling. Excellent customer service. Doug's the greatest. more

We were at least five years overdue for painting the exterior of our Westlake home. The house also needed considerable repair for woodrot and weather-related damage. A neighbor recommended Doug and after meeting him, we knew we could count him to deliver quality work. He carefully explained what had to be done to ensure a long-lasting result, and he also explained what a second-class job would entail. He was not interested in bidding on the job unless we accepted his advice on procedures and quality. He listened to what we had in mind and provided sound guidance as we made our selections. We were not disappointed. Our home looks better than when we bought it 23 years ago. Four months after the job was comlete, Doug dropped by the house with a 30 foot ladder to reattach a flood light that had recently come loose. That is really great customer service! more

Doug and his crew came on time, completed the job on time, cleaned up very well after themselves, moved all the furniture back into place and in general were very professional. Before the crew started painting, Doug and one of his men painted 7 different large color samples on walls in our LR and DR in order to help us make our color choice, and we found this to be very helpful. We had one of the bathrooms and the kitchen faux painted and in addtion the rest of the interior was painted as well. The painters were very patient in working out "just the right" look for us. In the end, we were super pleased with the results and highly recommend Doug Gorton's Company. more

I had some plumbing work done at my home which resulted in a 11/2' by 2' hole in my living room wall. I was told that I might have trouble finding a professional who would take on such a small repair job. I am pleased to say that not only did Doug Gorton take on such a small job, he repaired the hole and made the wall look as good as new. He visited my home, gave me the estimate and began the job the next day. And, even though the repair was relatively small, he returned three more times because that was what was needed to "do it right". (Replacing the sheetrock, taping, floating, texturing, etc. takes time, no matter how small or large the job.) I appreciate Doug's attitude, his skills and his reasonable fee. more

Bizarre "consult" lasted less than five minutes - he didn't want to see the paint I chose, didn't measure anything, couldn't give me a quote nor a timeline. He rushed off, promising to send an e-mail with quote later that evening. Instead, he sent several e-mails asking when my apt was built. I was changing a wall color, nothing more. Very off-putting interaction overall, and left me fearing the worst in follow-up. Chose Ortega's Painting Service instead & the whole job was done (perfectly) he next afternoon. more

Doug and his crew painted my house two years ago and did a fantastic job. I got many compliments from friends and neighbors. My house is over 100 years old and it is difficult to "do it right" and I am pretty picky about the results. He came back this summer to follow up,do touch up and I received the same friendly, competent workers, who worked tirelessly, consistently, helped each other, and operated very safely and actually cleaned up after themselves. He is very detailed: used the same paint, he remembers the right things, and is also very respectful to his staff. I would highly recommend Doug Gorton to anyone who asks. Two years ago we hired Doug to wash and paint our ranch-style two story house after it had been extensively remodeled by a master carpenter he had recommended. Included was the sanding and staining of upstairs and downstairs porches and completely reconstructed deck in the back as well as shutters for the front windows. His painting and porch staining was masterfully done and has held up very well. We asked him to come back recently to examine our house, make recommendations for touch-up work that is part of his warranty, and then to do that work. As with the original work, his painting crew did an excellent job; we were completely satisfied. more

I had a couple painters come to my new condo for repainting right before I moved in. I chose Doug due to his apparent knowledge and expertise in the area. The finished product met my high expectations. Best of all, he was able to recommend further services for which I had no previous knowledge that really made a great difference.
