Doodles

Doodles is a very cute boutique that has a wide assortment of baby and children's gifts. The quality of the merchandise is wonderful, and I have always found the staff to be pleasant when I visited. My only gripe is that their registry service leaves something to be desired. First of all, I registered there in July/August, yet my registry was not posted online for weeks because they forgot to download it - I had to call them to ask why it wasn't showing up on the Doodles website. Second, registry items that I'd already received were still on the website after I'd received them almost 3 weeks before, and when I called to correct the mistakes, I was told that they were probably busy and had made a few mistakes in updating my registry, no apologies. For me, the whole purpose of setting up a baby registry is so that I won't have to deal with receiving duplicate items and having to physically go to the store and return gifts when I have a new baby on my hands. If you want high quality baby gifts, Doodles is a great place to shop, but I'd advise against setting up a registry there until they have a better system in place to track items that are bought. more

I have visited many baby boutiques in my quest to have the nursery of my dreams, and the moment I found Doodles I knew it was the place for me...and everyone else with a child! They have an enormous selection of ""special"" items for all children. I did my whole nursery with them two years ago, and I recently returned to them to help prepare for baby number 2. Their expertise in nursery design is outstanding! They are not only good at what they do, they are kind and willing to help you in anyway. I value this store and regret the unfortunate reviews written by others. This store offers everything a child needs or wants. I think the staff is great and the merchandise is not only quality, but like no other around. If you have a child or need a gift for one, you MUST visit this ""land of dreams!"" We received gifts for our baby and one of them was from Doodles. I tried to return it the next weekend and they said I needed to know the persons name that bought the gift. THEY DON'T GIVE GIFT RECEIPTS. I gave them the name and they said they didn't sell anything to that person. Then they accused me of trying to ""pull a fast one"" on them. Turned out that the item was bought by my best friend's husband and not her. THEY NEEDED TO KNOW HIS NAME - They were rude, confrontational and will not get any of my future business. What a shame, because their product is cute - VERY expensive, but adorable. I have never written a review for anything before, but after reading what has been written about Doodles; the store, the staff, the owners...I feel I must. I first went to Doodle's before the birth of my 21 month old daughter. I met the owner, Lisa, right away and she helped me with crib bedding. I had no idea what I wanted as far as decor for the nursery. She spent COUNTLESS hours with me on MANY trips to the store choosing custom bedding and various furniture and decorative pieces, great gliders, for my nursery...which is adorable thanks to her help and patience. I now also have 5 month old triplets. Of course I went right back to Doodles for everything. Same scenario. Many trips, many hours..and everyone was always helpful and put up with my fickle mind changes. Lisa even talked to me from her cell phone on her day off (I called the store first) while I was trying to buy cheaper fabric at another store and didn't know how many yards to get for the crib bumpers! She helped me buy cheaper fabric! In addition, because I was having triplets, she offered me a discount on all of my purchases! Does this sound like rude owners? The staff ALWAYS adresses me by name when I go to the store and ALL of them are helpful. They ALWAYS check the back if I need something that is not on the floor and will even custom order if I need (it's hard to buy for triplets!). Christie even calls me at home if they get something in that she thinks I will like. I now consider the owners, Lisa, and her mother Irene, and the staff, Christie, Pat, Angela, all of them, my friends. more

Doodles is hands down the best baby store I have ever been in. The employees are EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell. The owner sat with me for hours helping me design my dream nursery. Everything came out exactly like I had dreamed it would be. All of my friends think my room is the most gorgeous nursery they have ever seen. Be sure to set an appointment because they are so busy that you want to make sure the desingers are there to help you. I am actually shocked to read some of the previous reviews. I had the BEST, BEST, BEST expierence at Doodles. I have recommended many of my friends to shop there. None of them have ever had one bad thing to say. So I am a new mother to a beautiful baby boy and I am so anxious to do some serious shopping. I love unique baby clothing at a reasonable price but I don't mind spending a little more than I normally would just to ensure my boy isn't looking like every other baby in town. I've been to a couple of boutiques in houston and was interested in taking a look at Doodles....although after reading these reviews on their customer service, I'm most sure I will be passing this one up! I have worked in retail for years and customer service is always #1.... the owner is rude and the staff is snotty?!! That is definitely a way to bring in business! Sounds like it's quite a joy to shop there! Well thanks but no thanks, I would much rather shop somewhere I would be treated nicely and a place that I would like to come back to!! To devonny1: How much time do you have on your hands? You must have a personal vendetta against Doodles. Perhaps they weren't ""falling over themselves"" enough for your snotty and pretentious nature. You have a Bugaboo? WOWWW congrats, you're rich, who cares? For those of you less privileged than Ms. Thang, a Bugaboo is a $900 stroller. Doodles doesn't even carry them bcs, seriously, who would buy this their baby to get sick in? I doubt they were oohing and ahhing over it. Get over yourself. They probably don't always talk to you everytime you are in the store bcs perhaps they are BUSY with lots of other customers besides lil ol you, or maybe they don't like your bitchy, snobby personality. All you negative review-writers seem to overlook the fact that this is a family operation, not Babies R'Us with thousands of employees. Doodles is usually always very busy; 25 customers for 5 employees? That to me is a showing of a very successful business; but perhaps you hated not being their priority. I was surprised to see such negative reviews about this great little store in Houston. I have had nothing but good experiences the many times I have shopped there. I have lots of nieces and nephews and friends with kids who I constantly buy gifts for. Doodles has the most unique, beautiful gifts for babies, children, and new parents. Their items are pricey, but worth it...this is a boutique after all, not a bargain basement! Plus, I have been able to find cheaper gifts there as well. I think they have a great selection, from toys, picture frames, lamps, clothing, even rhinestone-studded pacifiers! Every gift I have bought from there has been loved and adored by the recipient, and I have sent so many pregnant friends there to get their custom bedding and to register; not one has had a single complaint! I went to Doodles this past weekend and fell in love with the store! I went to the store looking for a crib and walked out having purchased a glider, crib and dresser for my baby's room. I also plan on returning for bedding in a couple of weeks. I was overwhelmed by the merchandise they have in the store. It is by far the cutest store I have seen in Houston with the best selection and presentation. The employees were so helpful!!! I was helped by several different employees while I was there. They told me about the holiday card so I could save some extra money. I had never even heard of the holiday shopping card! I was in the store for several hours and everyone kept coming over to check on me and see if I needed anything. After such a wonderful experience, I decided to post a review. I was very surprised by some of the other reviews! It was not at all what I experienced!! I would suggest Doodles to anyone and everyone! They offered excellent customer service and I think the merchandise speaks for itself! An A+ as far as I am concerned! more

I have shopped at Doodles for the past few years, and they do truly have unique and beautiful children's items. However, I will have to say they have been lacking in customer service. To their credit, it seems as though the last few times I have been in the store, the staff has been quite friendly. Angela has helped me on several occasions and she has always been very nice. On the other hand, the owner has always been rude, and if you bring your child in the store while she is there, be prepared for her to glare at you as if you have some commited some horrible atrocity. Overall, I will continue to shop at Doodles because I simply love their ""stuff."" However, I am sure when I buy something that I will not need to return it...but if by chance a return is inevitable, I let my argumentative husband do the dirty work! Wow! I am very surprised by the reviews this store has received. I just received my baby bedding a few weeks ago and IT IS PERFECT!! I was very nervous about picking out baby bedding especially with my husband who knew nothing about bumpers and bedskirts. Lisa and Angela were so helpful in explaining and showing the both of us every aspect of the bedding, making us feel at ease with what we are doing. Everything came in on time and some even a little early. We ordered everything from the crib, to the bedding, artwork, and the glider, they sell the best gliders I can't get my husband out of it. I have been in the store several times and their staff has always been helpful from questions I might have about something or picking out the perfect gift for a friend. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for the perfect baby's room or gifts, they are the total package. Pros: Great Products, more

As the owner of Doodles, I feel the previous reviews were written to make me out to be some terrible person. I am a very honest person and would never do the things the previous writers have accused me of doing. Let's begin with Alicia. Everything she ordered came in the exact time I quoted her. I said her bedding would take 4-6 wk, it came in 5. I told her the glider would take 8-10 wk, it came in 6, well before the quoted time. The parts that were missing were screws. We got replacement ones for her in 2 days. And as for the glider going to a warehouse, anyone who shops in my store can go to the back and see how much space I have to store furniture--NONE. We take all furniture to an air conditioned storage and when the customer calls to let us know what day they will pick it up we have it brought over. Next, Jill's comments. I fully admit that her valance took longer than expected. We did, however, run into some problems with the fabric being backordered. Then when the valance came in, it was too heavy for her rod so we had to have a different pocket put in. When she called to check on when it was it coming back, I got the call. This was the first time I had heard of these problems because she had been working with one of my employees. I told her I would check on the status and get back to her ASAP, which I did. It turned out that the valance had already shipped back to us. I'm sorry if I wasn't apologetic enough for her. Finally, Dana's comments. ALL FALSE!!!! The way Dana wanted her bedding is the EXACT way it came in. Angela recommended doing it a different way, but Dana wanted it more simple. WE HAVE HER SIGNATURE TO PROVE IT! Don't come back and blame us for what YOU picked out!!! As for the baby book, there was a tiny thread which the company told us to clip, and since she did not like the bow, I offered to change it out for something she would like better. At first appearance, Doodles is a beautiful little boutique with some really cute clothes and accessories. My wife and I searched out many stores before deciding to use Doodles as one of our registries for our first child. We went in and selected numerous items for the registry and purchased custom bedding and a baby book, costing around $800. Pros: Cute clothing and accessories. When purchasing custom items from Doodles, do not expect to receive your items within the estimate given. My order took three times as long as originally quoted! And when speaking with the owner of the store I mentioned how I had to continue to call to check on my order, it was very difficult to get someone to call me back and this was a very frustrating process. Let's face it, Doodles is not the cheapest baby store around. So for the price point of their products, good customer service is expected. I recently purchased custom bedding, a glider and receiving blankets totaling $2200. Getting an appointment to order the custom items was easy. The harder part was getting the sales staff to provide me with details about my order. First, if they tell you your order will arrive in 4-6 weeks, go with 6-8 weeks to be safe. Secondly, some of their staff members are rude. When you ask them a question about your order, they seem bothered to look up the information for you. Third, if they leave you a message to tell you your glider is in, call them back the same day or they will ship your glider to an offsite warehouse, where you can't go pick it up. I think Doodles is the best baby store in Houston. They might be a little tough when it comes to returns, but that is what it takes to stay in business when you are a boutique. I laugh when I hear some of the previous complaints. Seriously, would you want to buy something that another child has been playing with and drooling all over, that would be disgusting!! That customer should have a little respect for the merchandise that they had no intention of buying. Maybe they should carry with them some of their own toys to let their baby drool all over. About the 15% off, why would you think you could use a coupon once you have already bought something. You can't go to any store that I know of and ask to get a discount once the sales transaction has already gone through. I guess some people try anything and if they don't get their way they will pitch a fit. And the complaint about taking pictures, I don't get it. When I had them design my bedding, the lady told me I could get swatches and pictures once I placed my order. They were very willing to give me anything I needed to help me make my search for nursery items easier. They even made me several color copies of the fabrics so I could send them to my parents & in-laws so they could see what I was having made. Pros: best selection more
