I just got off the phone with Dodge City. I had spoken with them two weeks earlier about boarding our pet while we were going on vacation. The receptionist said that I did not nee...

I've used Dodge City vet for 15 years and have always been very happy! They actually saved the life of my Pom who had tick paralysis on a Sunday morning. That was my FIRST experience with them. They were the only vet in the area that would answer their phone on a Sunday morning. The elder Dr Smith knew immediately what was wrong. I've never understood the negative feed back on them! I had a bad exp with D.S. Animal Hosp. I left my Pom at their kennel for a week & came home to a scared to death dog with a bad case of kennel cough. He was so scared & sad. That said I will likely never leave my dog at a vet kennel for more than a day. If u want great care for your animal find a person or business that specializes in pet boarding! Dodge city Offers great vet care! more

Best vet staff I have ever encountered, and we have 8 pets. We have used their services (major and minor) for the past 7+ years and would never think twice of going elsewhere. Many praises going to Dr. Scott & his staff! Highly suggest! more

Quite taken back, when I read the negative comment. I was reading city social the morning before my doggie was suppose to have main mechanism ? For both hips replaced. I have been using Dodge City for 17 years. A great job was done, and my dog is healing well. I knew with such a serious injury not to expect miracles . . . . But I am very pleased with the outcome. Thanks to all! more

I took my dog to Dodge City by my house in Denham Springs to be neutered, which should be a routine operation. When he got home I saw he had loose flaps of skin not holding together and was horrified. I immediately took him back and they said he was fine, that he had apparently licked off the surgical glue. I have never seen such a poorly sewn up incision. Luckily I had a week's worth of antibiotics at home to give him while he healed up, which he eventually did. Just had my other dog neutered at the Baton Rouge Spay and Neuter Clinic, and what a difference. Tiny little incision that was sewn up by people who cared and know what they are doing. Steer clear of Dodge City. In Denham Springs, Dr. Hood is good, or I have always heard good things bout Associated Veterinary Services on Greenwell Springs Road. Their low cost Spay Neuter clinic is a Gosend. more

Quacks-stay away from this place! 10/25/2012

2 bad experiences here. One was an emergency where a pit bull attacked my dog. The wounds were not properly cleaned, had to go to another vet to get proper care.\r 2nd bad was a routine nail clip. My dog came out with a bloodied mouth with an inadequate explanation. Stay away from here. These people are quacks. Cheap in this case equals incompetence. more

Stay away from this place. They are incompetent. 2 bad experiences. One inadequate wound care by the female vet.. The 2nd was an abusive vet tech. Run from this place! more

HORRIBLE PLACE WILL NEVER RETURN 12/31/2011

This place is HORRIBLE! I would advise to NEVER take any animal to this Animal Hospital. I made an appointment for 11:15 for my 8 month old Weimaraner. All I needed was to get his left eye looked it, it seemed to be bothering him. I showed up at 11 o'clock so I could be checked in and get my dog seen in a timely manner. I was brought back right away BUT I SAT IN THE EXAM ROOM FOR AN HOUR!!! Without anyone checking on us or anything.. Finally an hour later my husband went to the front counter to see what was going on and the RUDE highschool girl behind the counter said she would check with the doctor. It was on a Saturday so they close at 12. It was now 12:15 and we were still sitting there and have yet to see any doctor or knowledgeable staff. We finally walked straight out of the door at 12:30. This is was CRAZY. I don't know how this place stays in business. It isn't even clean. I also know that the "honorable" Dr. Scott Smith is a low down good for nothing man after cheating on his more

Very Disappointed 12/30/2011

I left my German Shepard there for four days during the Christmas holidays to visit my family. I am from Corpus Christi, TX and the kennels here were either full or they wanted WAY too much. Pros: null Cons: null more

We love Dodge City!!! 9/6/2010

We have 5 cats and 2 dogs and have been going to Dodge City for over 10 years. I would not dream of going anywhere else. We love the Doctors and have always found them to be kind and compassionate and trust them with all of our animals. We brought home a very sick dog from the Baton Rouge Shelter last year and the Dr made himself available for questions 24/7 which was above and beyond anything we would have expected. We appreciate everything the Doctors at Dodge City have done for us and all of our animals throughout the years. We could not ask for a better place or Doctors to care for our animals. more

I love my pets 9/2/2010

I went to Dodge City when my very sick dog had to be put down. They were extremely kind, compassionate, and wonderful to me. I have no complaints about the professionalism of Dr. Scott or his staff. more

GROW UP PEOPLE!!! 8/11/2010

To all those who have posted negative comments about this hospital, Dr.s and staff, all I am going to say is that these people are not telling all that happened before and during there visit. This facility has to be the best around. They are very clean, the staff and Dr.s are great, and they have the biggest facility in Denham Springs or Baton Rouge. People who say that the Dr.s there purposely killed there animals or misdiagnosed their animals, THAT IS COMPLETE B.S.! All the Dr.s in this facility are very compassionate and very loving Dr.s! I cant believe all you people want to blame these wonderful Dr.s and staff for something you did wrong with your animals!!!! Grow up and take some responsibility!!!! more

Don't believe everything you read 5/18/2010

I went to them because I had seen alot of Dr. Scott ear cropping patients at my job. First of all I walk in very nervous because of all the bad reviews I had read I am a black female and one review said they were racist totally not true because I was treated very nicely from the moment I walked through the door by staff and doctors. Maximus ear cropping went very well but when I took him home he hurt his ears twice and I had to take him back both times and everyone was very friendly and understanding. I was taking him to a vet that was cheaper but the vibe I felt from everyone was so nice that I'm glad I didn't belive what I had read and went to see for my self . Dodge city you have made a customer for life and I'm happyto have walked through your doors Thank you!!!! From Tekisha and Maximus. Pros: Very friendly staff Cons: None more

Love Love Love Dr. Scott Smith 4/9/2010

My 3 year old Boston Terrier starting going to Dodge City after I began dissatisfied with another local vet and I could not be happier with Dr. Scott Smith. My dog's 1st visit with Dodge City and Dr. Scott was for a follow-up visit after a trip to the Doggy ER in Baton Rouge. My poor little man had an Ulcer on his eye and had to have IMMEDIATE eye surgery or risk losing his eye completely. Once this was discovered they took my little man right back for surgery and I had him back in my arms by 5 that evening. He was feeling much better and Dr. Scott did a wonderful job with his eye. Not only has he did the eye surgery, but he also removed my little's anal glands. Once again the surgery went great and I could not have asked for any better care for my dog. He is my son since my husband and I have no children. I would not trust his care to anyone but Dr. Scott. When I make appointments they are ALWAYS with Dr. Scott because of that I cannot speak of the other Dr.'s in the group. more

Something worth Reading!! 12/22/2009

I have gone to this office for too long and Dodge City Vet is not as bad as some of the follwing comments. Of course they get busy and yes you may have to wait but I honestly think until you spead 30 mins in there shoes you people would appreciate them more. First, some people should understand that a vet office is similar to human dr office. Please someone tell me when is the last time you went to your own personal Dr and didnt have to WAIT! Second, Im sure all the complaints on here are only half the true. Like someone would get on here and confess what they did in the situation. There is not a Dr there that does not try their best at everything they do! When something goes wrong maybe it is not only the Dr's fault. There has been several times I didnt follow correct meds or forgot to do something for treatment towards by dogs. But each time I would call there to ask a question, I have always been helped. This is life and no one is perfect no matter how good of a owner you try to be. more

My Pet's Worst Nightmare 12/3/2009

Last week, I took my dachshund (Cleo) to Dodge City; to have a growth on her foot, looked at. The vet took a sample of the fluids and determined it could be cancerous. And she advised that the growth to be removed that day. I was hesitant, because the next day was Thanksgiving, and I didn?t want my dog staying over the holidays. The vet assured me that even though the office closed at noon (cause of the holidays), I could pick her up at 4 that afternoon. Before I left, I paid the bill so that in the afternoon I would not have to worry about the bill. About 2 hours later the vet called, and said that Cleo did very well in surgery. But when they opened the kennel cage, she tried to run out, and fell and busted her lip (she was still under anesthesia). The vet wanted to put her on anti-inflammatory just as a precaution, because of dachshund?s long backs. At 4 o?clock I picked up Cleo. Before I left I was charged for the anti-inflammatory, (which was a little aggravating, more

50/50 10/20/2009

I have been going to Dodge city for about 10 yrs. and I have had great experiences and bad ones. I think their staff definitely needs a reality check or customer service training, but Dr. Smith is great. I have taken dogs, cats, birds, ferrets to him and he has done well with all. The only problem i really have is, we were told we needed an extensive leg surgery for my dog/child and after a hard surgery and a lot of money she is still the same. It seems as though the expensive surgery did nothing. Then we were told she needed it again, in my opinion they should have caught it the first time. But I still go there and haven't had another problem. But that is definitely strike 2 on their behalf, one more and we will find another vet. more

Dodge City Veterinary Hosp Inc is Abad Place 10/19/2009

If you love your pets stay away from this place ! My dog/child of 8 years went in for a simple surgery and died 11 days later. She died on Oct 15th . I should have taken her some where else and she may very well still be here. Im very hurt and all they did was give me excuses. When we went in a few days after her surgery she acted nervous and scared to be there that should have told me something. I was going to take her to a diff vet asap but she died at 4am. PLZ STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE I WARN YOU. more
