Don't trust them or the fake positive reviews on this site 8/18/2011

I naively took my car in for an oil change and was told I needed $1500 in repair work on my car. I refused and took my car elsewhere and was told almost nothing needed to be fixed. They are a dishonest shop: avoid them or be sorry. The terse, vague positive reviews you see on this site are bogus reviews generated by the owners. Check out their reviews on yelp, which makes an effort to screen out obviously fake reviews. more

Not the best service! 6/13/2011

Ive tried Doc Able's twice now. Once out of sheer emergency being new to the area my car broke down on the expressway and they were the nearest place I could tow it to that had an available appointment. I was given estimates of nearly $2000 in work for my car. Be it that two thousand dollars was not in my budget they did work on my car that would get it up and running again. When I went to pick up my car the leak that they were supposed to fix was still leaking! I dropped my keys walking over to my car and thought "let me just take a peek under neath the car" I did and sure enough there was a drip of oil! Oil that should have been repaired as part of the paid for repairs. Well they take it back into the garage and adjust a hose or two but when they bring it back I noticed my window off track. I paid nearly $1100 for repairs one of the mechanics let it down and it popped off track. As a business I would think that if you damage something you would fix it before returning it back to the more

I learned the hard way. I brought my 2003 Toyota in for an estimate on a 60,000 mile service. After getting a quote I shopped around and to save $40.00 I went to another place. Boy was that a mistake, by the time they were done I spent $120.00 more and had to wait 3 days for my car. I have always used Doc's in the past and I will always use them in the future... more

my VW's out of warranty about a year. Started going to Doc's about 11 months ago and am very very happy with the service and smiles. Fair prices & cool antique cars! p.s. i could used the rest room it was nice and clean. more

Solid Shop 5/25/2011

""After reading the reviews, thankfully I had a decent experience at Doc Able's. I needed to get a tire replaced after getting a flat and Doc's was the closest shop. They were quick and service was decent. Prices were pretty reasonable too. This experience was solid enough that I may go for a return visit when needed. I find that auto body shops are very difficult to judge. When going to an autobody shop, all people want to hear is good news and more importantly, hearing low price estimates. If you go to enough autobody shops I am sure you'll get quoted a lower prices and some will even say you don't need specific services done. But does that make individual more trustworthy? Not sure."" more

Money Saver!!!! 5/24/2011

Great place, they have saved me thousands over servicing my car at the dealership. It looks like the bad review are all from cheap Evanston pipe smoking professors who don't want to spend money. I will continue to service my car with Doc Ables! more

Positive Reviews Posted Here are Fake! 5/1/2011

All those five-star one-sentence cookie-cutter reviews on Citysearch are fake. Probably they're posed by employees. On behalf of the many who were ripped off by this place, stay away. They performed what I later learned were unneeded repairs on my car. I later learned that this place is well-known for dishonesty among locals. Check out their reviews on sites that screen out obviously fake reviews like Yelp. If you go there, you'll be sorry. more
