Great cozy restaurant 1/13/2008

Excellent Lamb chops, among the best I've had. Meza platter was delicious. Excellent restaurant to take a date. I didn't get a chance to try the hookah, probably next time. The waitstaff are nice and helpful. Definitely worth going back. Pros: good date spot, cozy, food is great Cons: non more

Cozy, Cool, Contemporary...Good Food, Drinks & Hookah 12/16/2007

A group of friends and I celebrated my 33rd birthday at Divan this past weekend, and every one us totally enjoyed the experience. The location is prime, in buckhead. The restaurant itself is a cool, funky, energetic house with several dining/living room areas that create a comfy private space for several different parties to socialize. The decor and vibe is really sexxy, contemporary and middle eastern. The foods and pom martini's were delish. The Hookah, and I am a non-smoker, was really cool. We all tried the Hookah in three different flavors which was a nice add-on to an already unique experience. The manager, Max, was very accomodating as were the servers that tended to us. With the exception of one server, I believe her name was Sherrina - unorganized, mildly snotty, unattentive, I would definitely do Divan again and again. Pros: Ambience, Large Groups, Good Hookah more

Wonderful All Around 11/12/2007

My wife and I celebrated my birthday this past Saturday night. Loved everything about this place: the ambiance, the food, the martinis, and the service. This was our first time there, and our server was an excellent guide - she answered our questions about the food, hookahs and drinks like we were dining at her home. Try the Cosmopolitan hookah (tastes just like the drink!), and the combination Mezza platter can't be beat, as well as the lamb & chicken kabobs. The staff was friendly, professional, gracious and eager to please. Go there for a truly wonderful and unique dining experience for dinner, or just go to relax, have a few drinks & hookahs! 5 out of 5 stars! more

Great atmosphere, great hookah. 10/13/2007

My friends and I have been coming to this place for about 2 years now and still love it. The prices have definitely gone up and it's become harder to find seating now, but the hookah and the pomegranate martinis are amazing. I definitely agree with the customer service, if you come on a busy night... or even a slow night. Expect everything to take forever. Seriously, you might want to order two drinks at a time, because your not getting that second drink right away. I still think that it might be worth it because of the atmosphere, but I'm trying to figure that out. Pros: hookah, romantic, martinis. Cons: service more

Romantic and Divine! 10/9/2007

My fiance def. earned some brownie points with this surprise. The kind of place that you want to return to time and time again. Romantic, beautiful, amazing. more

best dinner in a while 10/2/2007

Divan is a hookah bar and lounge. A week ago, my husband and I stopped in to celebrate his promotion. We were thouroughly impressed with the food and especially the service. I have never been greeted with such warmth and hospitality. Anyone who has a bad experience in this resturaunt must have been extremely discourtious to the staff. EVERY employee that my husband and I came into contact with showed genuine concern for our enjoyment and an extreme sense of pride in what they do. Thank you Divan for making our evening so wonderful. Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

Worst Service 10/1/2007

Went to this place for dinner with friends and it was a horrible experience. We had a private room upstairs as we were 11 people. Although we had reservations, the server was definitely not prepared. Had the worst service I have ever experienced here in the States. Sherrinna, the server was clueless. We asked her a few questions about several dishes from the menu and she had no idea. At one point as I was sipping on the Turkish coffee I even asked her what was in it just to test her knowledge on something as simple as coffee, and she had no clue; she actually replied ?it?s just Arabic coffee, but I don?t know what?s in it.? At no point did she offer to ask her manager or perhaps another server, just shrugged it off and left. How idiotic. Needless to say, when the bill came, I asked to have the automatically added-on gratuity removed. Although I believe in generous tipping, this was definitely fair for her lack of concern and knowledge. She should get a job at McDonald?s where no one will ask ?what?s in the fries?. My group also had to ask for extra plates and knives, for which we waited a while to receive. I left the room at one point to see where our air-headed server was, as she had not come to check on us for more than 25 minutes, and she was downstairs smoking a hookah without a care in the world. I understand it?s relaxing, but she?s there to work, or is she??? The tilapia was delicious, but too bad my stomach was churning with nerves in the end. I wish the service would have been better; perhaps my memory of the decor, food, and ambiance would not be shaded at this point. This entire experience just left a bad taste in everyone?s mouth. If I EVER set foot in this establishment again, I will request to be served by the Manager himself. No more ditzy servers to ruin what could otherwise be a joyous evening. Pros: Great ambiance, food was delicious Cons: WORST SERVICE EVER more

Nothing can make up for bad customer service! 9/24/2007

The atmosphere was unique and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the atmosphere and the food could not make up for the bad customer service. Although we had reservations, the staff was unprepared. We waited an unreasonable time for our food (almost an hour) while some of us didn't even get some of the stuff we ordered. The servers were not courteous enough to apologize for the delay or to keep us updated on the status of our order. Moreover, we waited at least a half hour for our checks, after which we waited another half hour or so to get our credit cards back. it is unfortunate that the servers were too rude to treat us with respect and the manager was too uninterested to resolve the delay. Delicious food is great, but good customer service is a must! Unfortunately, they failed in that respect. Pros: Food, atmosphere, parking Cons: CUSTOMER SERVICE more

Surprisingly very unprofessional 9/24/2007

The food and atmosphere were exceptional, but customer service was the worst I have seen in a long time. Food was NOT delivered in a timely fashion (the least to say), and paying was a nightmare!! Not only did it take 30 min to bring the tabs, but after taking another 30 min to run the payments, the waitress comes back with wrong receipts, missing credit cards, and messed up orders. When asked to speak to a manager she replied "No, I will deal with you later"-- Again, I enjoyed the atmosphere , but I would think twice about handing over my credit card info to such place. No one was courteous about the fact that a regular dinner turned into a 3 hr nightmare!! Needless to say, I would not be dining there again, nor do I recommend this place to anyone who expects decent service. Pros: Food, atmosphere Cons: customer service, professionalism more

This place was AWESOME 7/30/2007

Divan is such a unique restaurant. The decor was extremely unique and romantic - there really is nothing like it. There was a bunch of art everywhere, the restaurant was made to look artistic. Not a smoker of any kind, the concept of eat, drink, and smoke was cool. By suggestion of our server, we ordered the Earl Gray MarTEAni, which was excellent, Almaza beer, the Shish Kebobs, the Lamb Shank (which was amazing) and the grape hookah. My date and I had a fantastic time. Pros: good food, very romantic, and relaxing Cons: none more

Best Patio dining in Atlanta 7/10/2007

Having just moved to the Atlanta from SF, I was very happy to find Divan. I loved the patio, the decor, the service and quality of food). You just need to be here once to want to go back. I have come to know the staff at Divan quite well who are all very good at what they do. I will go back and recommend this place to everyone, and oh yeah the food is the best too (try the Lamb Kebobs, the Mazza platter and the Pomegranate sorbet) Pros: Martinis, hookahs, relaxing Cons: Hard to get a good table on the weekends without a reservation more

Yuuuuummm 5/24/2007

Yuuu-um! oh man, did I have a great meal at Divan! On a busy Saturday night, I went with my husband on our anniversary, got in a big ol' maza platter, Lamb Kabobs, and short ribs, and STILL enjoyed every bite of my meal. I was ignoring my husband and concentrating on eating, so I got a good chance to really investigate my food and concentrate on how delicious it was. The bottle of wine was a knock-out! First time hookah smoker. It was very smooth and fun. Our experience at Divan was very positive and unique. We will come back with more of our friends. more

Lamb Chops to Die for 4/27/2007

We went to Divan again last Friday night. We normally order our standard Hummos, Goat Cheese and Chicken Kabobs. This time we wanted to try something new. We ordered their new eggplant dish, feta and herb salad and the lamb chops. The food was exceptionally well prepared and delicious. As far as price goes dinner, bottle of wine, salad, and an appetizer, cost us less than 70.00 dollars. My wife and I have traveled the world and we believe Divan is better than any restaurant we have dined in. Pros: delicious food, very romantic, relaxing lounge with hookah Cons: none more

Food is really good 3/17/2007

I liked the food there a lot... but it was more of appetizer like. I went with a big group so we all ordered a few meals and shared. Everything we ordered was good. It has a fun environment, but i was dissappointed cause when i went it was late night however, upstairs there was no bellydancer or entertainment. more

Fantastic Late Night upscale Dinner 3/16/2007

There really needs to be more places like Divan. Not many places in Atlanta feature indoor/outdoor dining, fantastic desserts, great drinks, awesome service, and late night hours all packed into one. The food were fantastic, the lamb kabobs tantalized my palette while I tried some of their fantastic drinks unique to the house. The bartenders and waitstaff were nice and hospitable and the prices were suitable for the quality of food/drinks. With the very romantic set up and dim lights it is surely one of the more accommodating venues available in Atlanta. This is a must stop for anyone coming through Atlanta on a weekend. Not too overpriced... It can get real crowded during the weekends, I've always loved Divan for their service, hours, and foods. Pros: amazing menu, drinks and hookah. more

Divan never fails 2/25/2007

Being a regular at Divan for the past 2 months, I can say this place is great. Beside the amazing arts, dim lights, candles, friendly service, beautiful crowed, tasty martinis, and hookahs, is their delicious food. Try the Spinakopita, Lamb chops, and chicken kabobs. It has never failed me. Pros: atmosphere, upscale, cozy, delicious food Cons: non at all more

VERY Cool Place! 2/16/2007

OK, let me first say that I wasn't sure what to expect because I had read some mixed reviews on Citysearch but pay no attention to those! Kelvin, our server, was fabulous and made some great recommendations which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Pomegranate Martini was a bit sweet for our taste but still objectively good. The Turkish beer is excellent! As for the lamb and short ribs we ordered, very good. We are very picky so I can't say it as the absolute best food but the overall experience was really great. We sat in the lounge vs the upstairs dining room. It was very good for people watching. Very romantic, too. Our Hookah choice was the Double Apple and was just great! We enjoyed Pistachio Cannoli and Turkish Coffee ice cream for dessert. We preferred the Cannoli over the ice cream. If you don't like spice in your coffee, don't order the Persian Coffee. The Turkish Coffee would probably have been a better choice for us. But, all in all, this was a great experience and I would highly recommend taking someone there for a unique dining experience. Sort of like Imperial Fez does but the Hookah was really cool. Loved that!! Pros: Cool concept, great atmosphere Cons: If you won't smoke the Hookah, don't bother. It's the coolest part of the evening. more

wonderful restaurant 1/29/2007

I had heard many good things about Divan, and since going there, I have found that they are true! I had a wonderful experience. The atmospher, the service and the food was superb--I had the warm Goat Cheese, Pita Pizza and Lamb Kabobs. Everything was presented elegantly and promptly. What I like the most about Divan is that after the food you can stay and smoke a hookah and relax. Pros: good food, romantic, International crowd Cons: crowded on weekends more

A Very Romantic Restaurant 1/21/2007

My date and I visited Divan on a week night. The atmosphere, the art , the hookah smoking, and the candle lights were very romantic and exotic. The food was superb. Try the lamb kabobs, yummy yummy. Our waitress was very nice and did not rushed us during our dinner. She was very helpful in suggesting the items that we were not familiar with. Over all, I had a great time at this restaurant. Pros: superb food, very romantic Cons: non more

Atlanta is very fortunate to have Divan. 1/6/2007

I am a regular visitor of Divan. I took a first date there on Friday night. 1st of all if you are taking a date make sure you have a reservation. It is hard to get a table on weekends. We had a bottle of Pinot Noir and warm goat cheese as an appetizer. I had the roasted lamb chops and my date had the short ribs. For dessert we shared a pomegranate Creme Brulee, strawberry hookah, and Turkish coffee. As a world traveler, who knows a lot about Middle Eastern culture and food, Divan is just a good restaurant, where you can relax and get some amazing food. But, for my date, the experience was out of this world. We opened up our conversation about food, wine, and culture of the Middle East. I felt like, I had a lot to say about the culture and food while we were smoking the hookah. Long conversation on the first date is always a good sign and Divan is the spot for it. Pros: Hookah, good food, international wine and beer selection, relaxing sofas more
