Tara McCoy stayed late to make our sale happen. We went down with the intentions of buying a Sportwagen and ended up buying a Passat. Even though it was after hours Tara and the rest of the staff never once made us feel pressured or rushed for time. Tara made us feel very comfortable and if she cared on a personal level. We got a great price and a fair amount for our trade. We could not have asked for a better experience! I would not hesitate to recommend Tara to friends, family, or complete strangers! more

INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL. SHOP ELSEWHERE. COULD NOT BE WORSE. \r \r Came in recently to test drive a couple cars, and this dealership confirmed every stereotype you can possibly imagine about car dealers. We were very clear that we were just in the research phase and still going to several other dealers. Nonetheless, they started asking for all kinds of personal information when all we wanted was a ballpark price on a lease. The line ""what price would it take for me to put you in this car today"" was even uttered. The usual tag-team action with the manager happened (who it must be said was much more professional than the sales guy). I also had a terrible experience at Herzog Meier a couple years ago, so if you are in the market for a VW in Portland, I guess Armstrong is the only option. more

Melani, our sales person, had the vehicle we were interested in ready to go for us when we arrived, but we changed our mind re the color. She didn't skip a beat and we were test driving very quickly. She patiently test drove with all three of us in the family who wanted to drive the car. We are Costco members, which is a great approach for car buying at this dealership. We quickly were presented a very fair price based on the Costco program. However, there was an even better price advertised on the dealership web site, and the sales manager honored that price immediately. We were out the door after working with the finance person in no more than 60 minutes after the test drive. As is typical, we were offered a number of different warranty and vehicle protection type services, but there was not any real pressure and we declined. After concluding the sale we remembered we wanted to purchase a spare tire kit. Melani showed us to service immediately, they gave us a fair discount and took care of mounting the spare right away. For the short periods of time we had to wait, they had a comfortable waiting area with good cookies, coffee and water, and an HD television with lots of cable channel options. All in all we were very pleased with the experience. more

After going to many car dealerships, I decided to drop by Dick Hannah Vdub. Very glad I did, as it was the best experience by far (as expected, Dick Hannah is always a great dealership to work with).\r \r \r I got a great car at a great price with no hassle. 100% recommend them! more

We purchase a new car approximately every 5 - 8 years, so we are not experienced at all of the wheeling/dealing of the car business. This was a very good experience for us. Melanie was professional and helpful. She took time to explain every detail of the process. When it came time to negotiate, which Dick Hannah is a negotiation dealership, she took our offer and made it work for us and the dealer. The business manager was helpful in explaining all the aspects of financing and did not pressure us into purchasing an extended warranty. If I had the money, I would like to do this every year because it was an enjoyable experience. more

I just bought a new Jetta Sportwagen TDI to replace my previous car which was totaled in an accident about three weeks ago. I did a lot of research and test drives on replacement vehicles and narrowed it down to the car I bought. I used the internet to look for prices and availability. I prefer to shop for cars on the web in order to avoid all the traditional sales related stuff auto dealers have a reputation for. While all the local VW dealers had just what I needed online, I initially chose Dick Hannah VW of Portland because they were closest to my home. I was a little leery of Dick Hannah dealerships due to a problem of bait and switch I had with their Subaru dealership in Vancouver back around 1997, but I went ahead and submitted an online credit application to them for a special finance offer VW had going. Almost immediately, I received an email quote on a car and a call from Melanie Prechtl. She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly and also had her sales manager call me to help me make sure I qualified for the offer. I was busy for a couple of days afterwards, so I couldn't come in, but she said to just give her a call before I did and she would be ready for me. I called her a couple of hours before I made it in on Saturday and, true to her word, she was waiting to help me pick out the car and go for a test drive when I got there. The dealership seemed pretty busy, but she made the process go very smooth. Once everything was done, Melanie walked me through the features of the car and explained the advantages of getting my car serviced there. I'd be more than happy to recommend the dealership and, particularly, Melanie to anyone looking for a great, no hassle deal. And, in fact, I have already. Just bought my new Jetta from Melanie Prechtl and she was great. Felt like I got a fair price, didn't feel pressured and she knew what she was talking about. Had my doubts about DH especially in their service department after they purchased Ray Reece but this last experience in buying the car was positive as well as the last service I had done for my old car. I feel comfortable recommending them and felt some of the bells and whistles in completing the deal will be well worth it.. more

I strongly recommend their parts and service team! Being a woman that knows just enough about cars to know when I am being taken advantage of (and have been too many times!), I feel that I can finally trust someone to have my interests in mind in regards to my VW. I called Dick Hannah VW a couple hours after they had opened and was not only seen right away (without an appointment) but had my minute but annoying car problem taken care of without even a charge for labor! This was by far the best service I've ever had when it comes to my car, which is of course thanks to Ric Hart on the service team. Wow. I just had the best car shopping experience of my life at Dick Hannah's. I worked with Tan Nguyen... who was an incredibly knowledgeable and patient salesperson. I didn't want to rush into anything... so Tan made sure I was aware of what several different car makers had to offer. In the end, I was pretty insistent on getting a 2006-2009 Honda Civic. The car lot we we were at didn't have a Civic that met what I was looking for, so Tan searched through Dick Hannah's entire inventory and found a 2010 Honda Civic with only 14,000 miles in Vancouver, WA.. And at a price that was well below Kelly Blue Book. And the price was below what other dealerships offered for older Civics. Tan and I drove to Vancouver to pick up the car. By time we got back to Portland, it was well past closing time. But Tan actually waited for me as I filled out all the paperwork with the finance person-- just so he could shake my hand at the end. I went in last week to Dick Hannah with my boyfriend to look for his first car. We were approached by the NICEST, GENUINE car salesman, Noe Galvez. He showed us great deals on the computer of different kinds of cars, many of which were at a reasonable prize my boyfriend was looking for. He then showed us around the lot without giving us any pressure to buy anything. Noe also let us know if we did decide to buy a car, he would hook us up. He then left us to look at some cars by ourselves giving us some time to decide.. I was very impressed by how helpful he was!! In a couple years I am wanting to buy my own car. My husband and I were in the market for a new car in anticipation of the arrival of our first child. We already have a VW that we take to their great service department for our maintenance. We did a lot of research and talked to other dealerships about the car we wanted and pricing. Ultimately we came back to VW of Portland. Herb Wisner and Curtis Etchnady made the buying experience pretty painless. We gave them the price we wanted to pay. There was no haggling or going back and forth. They answered all of our questions, and we walked out with just the car we wanted. Herb even called the next day to make sure we were happy with our choice, and answer any other questions. Definitely the easiest car buying experience I have had! more

The service dept is out standing they do what they say they will do in a timely manner. Frank let me know what was being done and was concerned when it took a little longer. My bug is in great and they keep it running and looking great. more

I recently bought my 3rd VW from salesman Noe at Dick Hannah VW on East Burnside. Noe is always so helpful, informative and always very friendly. On the day I came in to look at vehicles he was not feeling very well, and they didn't have the car I wanted. Not feeling well, Noe still made the extra effort to find the exact car I wanted and had it delivered to me at the East Burnside lot...that's great customer service! The manager at Dick Hannah was also great, he worked me an unbelievable deal that I couldn't refuse. The financing people were also very informative, helpful and great to work with. Together they all made the whole experience of buying a car easy and stress free. I will always purchase my vehicles from Noe and Dick Hannah and totally recommend them to my friends and family. more

We bought a New Volkswagen Tiguan from Justin Brainerd at the East Burnside Location. We have purchased a number of cars during the last 30 years and I can say that working with Justin made this our best experience to date. Horrible horrible horrible horrible service!!!! \r \r Made an appointment to get warranty service done, explained while making the appointment the issue, took my Touareg in 4 days later (enough time to order the needed part and by the way this is not a convenient location, but the closest VW dealership) made the service person check to see if they indeed had the part in stock before making the long trek back on the MAX (this has happened before with them) just to find out they didn't have the part. Service person said would order and would be in 3 days later. \r \r Two weeks later...no call, called to find out the status and they had no record of anything except the car had been brought in for service on the original appointment date, but would check on it and call back. Two days later and again nothing! Unfortunately, because the work is under warranty, they or another dealership have to do the work. \r \r So needless to say I won't be getting another Volkswagen if this is the type of service I have to deal with and for the price of a Tourareg, I'll get myself a BMW, not that I prefer one, but service will definitely be my first priority when purchasing my next car! \r \r And if Dick Hannah's sales people are anything like their service people I would NEVER buy a car from Dick Hannah! more
