Go Saturday mornings for the best tasting selections. Beautiful decorating on top of superior quality and great customer service too! I compared 13 vendors and they went above and beyond all the rest by far!\r Pros: They are truely the best ! Cons: They cost a little more than some competators, but it's well worth it! more

Best bakery for weddings by FAR!!!! 4/18/2008

I love this bakery! My brother used them for his wedding and at the wedding the best man and brides maid (me) were in an awful accident on the way to the reception. Since the I was a the grooms sister our parents had to spend most of the reception at the hospital and missed the cake cutting. Well Das Meyer heard about the accident and provided a free 6"" cake for the bride in groom to cut in front of the grooms parents when they returned from their honeymoon. Then, when I got married, I had a three month engagement, which isn't much time to plan a wedding. But they were very accommodating. It was a three tier cake and they allow you to make each layer different, we had strawberries and champagne on top, cookies and cream in the middle, and chocolate with chocolate filling on the bottom. I printed a picture of a decorations I wanted from a website of an EXPENSIVE bakery and they made it look IDENTICAL. It turned out BEAUTIFUL, and of course it tasted delicious (very moist and flavorful). What I like best is that on your one year anniversary they give you a free 6"" cake for free. Easy ordering, on time delivery, best taste! Pros: Price, taste, and flexibility with your ""wants"" Cons: Not open on Sundays, but luckily still delivered. more

They do not have anyone answering their phone or call waiting 4/8/2008

What kind of business does not have call waiting?\r I have been trying to get a hold of these guys for three days. Either no one answers the phone or the phone is busy, and they do know what a answering machine is! more

Don't bother 4/1/2008

We have been getting Das Meyer cakes for years and have never been let down - tasted great, awesome decorations - but I just cut into my birthday cake and was surprised to see it was NOT what we ordered. We ordered white chocolate with raspberry filling. No raspberry filling. My husband called to inquire what was going on and they told him ""Oh, yeah we gave you a $5 discount because we didn't have raspberry today"". What? They never even bothered to tell him in person that it wasn't the cake he ordered.\r \r They offered to make me a 6"" miniature complimentary cake in the flavor I ordered, but tonight is my birthday and birthday party - nice try. And 6""? Not even the real thing? They refused to refund our money. On top of it all, the cake was disgusting. I have never been disappointed in their cakes - but this was almost ""wet"" tasting, and the filling (without raspberry, of course) was too thin and watery.\r \r We will NOT be using them for any functions in the future. Pros: Beautiful decorating Cons: VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE more

Flaky 11/6/2007

My fiance and I were trying to book Das Mayer for our wedding. We attended a cake tasteing and worked out the prices and talked about when we wanted it, but we were told that we couldn't book them until 6 months before the event. Three months later, we heard through the grapevine, however, that other people we knew with weddings after ours were already booking Das Mayer for their wedding. We went today to try and book them and they told us that they had a previous annual engagement and would be unable to make a cake for us. Needless to say, my fiance is freaking out as our second choice is already booked and we now have to scramble to make up for lost time. What gets me is that if they had looked at the date of our wedding when we first tried to book them, we could have avoided this whole mess because thay knew about the conflict even back then. Also, when they discovered the conflict, instead of trying to work around it, which is what I tried to do, they gave up on our business giving us only the option to pick it up 2 days early, and store it ourselves until the wedding because they are closed to the public on Sundays. I would think that if we were gong to take the time and effort to pick it up ourselves that they could let pick it up on a day when they are 'closed'. Shouldn't they be the ones trying to work things out with us?\r \r Das Mayer has a reputation for this kind of poor customer service, and I would like to suggest that this reputation is well earned. I know now that the most important quality in any business is reliability and the ability to adjust to adversity. Das Mayer gave us bad information on when we could book them and then simply refused to work with us when thay discovered a bump in the road. They are definitely not the place you want to entrust one of the major components or your wedding. I would be very weary of any place that gives up on you at the first sign of trouble. Good luck to all you couples out there. Keep looking. Pros: Cakes taste good Cons: Horrible service, poor management of bookings more

Fantastic cake and service! 10/3/2007

I used Das Meyer for my wedding cake in October, 2006. Everyone there was so nice! We tasted cake on a Saturday and they even allowed me to take free samples home to my then fiance, who couldn't be there. The flavors were wonderful, especially the Creme Brulee and the Strawberries and Champagne. Their plain white cake was the best I have ever tasted!\r \r The customer service was wonderful. Everything on my wedding day went perfectly; the cake arrived right on time and looked gorgeous!\r \r I just put in my order for my top tier at our one year anniversary. They were so nice and I can't wait to have out first anniversary cake! Yum! Pros: Free Cake Samples on Saturdays Cons: A little out of the way more

Terrible Customer Service the Day Before Our Wedding!! 8/25/2007

We used Das Meyer for our wedding cake because they came so highly recommended. We went to the cake tasting, and the cake tasted great, so we ordered ours that day. The morning before our wedding, we received a call from our florist, that was dropping off the flowers to Das Meyer to decorate our cake, that Das Meyer had no idea our cake was to be decorated with flowers. We had discussed this with the salesperson, and putting flowers on the cake was on our original receipt! Das Meyer insisted that they were not putting the flowers on our cake, so I called our florist, and begged her to decorate the cake for me. She agreed, so all went well, however, Das Meyer did not honor their agreement with us. The florist also said that Dennis (the owner) was very rude and arrogant when delivering the cake. We had been warned of his arrogance, but didn't believe it until we experienced it first hand. Upon returning from our honeymoon, we called Das Meyer to discuss our frustration with the service we received, and to get our money back that we had paid for the flower decorating, but Dennis was again rude and obstinate and would not do anything to help us. I will never use this bakery ever again, and will warn all my friends not to do so as well! And a word of advice to brides...don't worry about the cake too much - no one eats it anyway - 2 whole tiers of our cake were thrown out! Pros: Great tasting cake when at the bakery Cons: Rude and arrogant more

Very Unhappy 6/19/2007

\r My family has been customers of Das meyer bakery for several years! we have always been completely satisfied in the past with all of the cakes we've ordered and purchased. \r This month (June 2007) we ordered 3 cakes 2 of which we nothing like we ordered. When we contacted the owners of the bakery they were very argumentative and very defensive. I tried to let them know that I was NOT A SATISFIED CUSTOMER and was very unhappy, we were told that they did all they could and were not going to do anything to compensate us for the cakes we purchased and "" It was up to me if I wanted to walk away from them and they wished me a good day!"" Showing no regard for my being a loyal customer for so many years!\r The two cakes that we picked up were NOTHING like what we ordered! \r Basically what I would like to let everyone know about this bakery is that...""WE"" as the customers are not valued!!! No matter what ""WE"" the customer asked for is NOT right in this company?s eye. My family will no longer be ordering any of your cakes from this family owned and operated bakery. We are very sad that this was the out come and overall we are very disappointed with the way we were treated by the owners of Das Meyer when we tried to express our concern regarding our order. \r Please know that Das Meyer's cakes are wonderful...but you will not be treated as a valued customer if you have an issue with their service. To Das Meyer..."" The customer is never right!!! They are!!!!""\r Pros: Wonderful cake Cons: terrible customer service! more

Best Bakery in Denver 4/30/2007

I have been hearing about Das Meyer for a while from my mother in law. She raved about the cakes and pastries. When I got engaged we immediately went there for a tasting. Their flavors can't be beat with creations like stawberries and champagne, chocolate raspberry truffle, and orange dream. Their cakes turn out beautifully and the customer service more than met my expectations. There is something romantic about ordering my wedding cake from a family owned bakery rather than Safeway. Not to mention the taste and artistic quality are outstanding. I can't recommend Das Meyer to enough people. Be sure to visit AT LEAST six months prior to your wedding because they book up fast. And although this bakery has a family owned and family friendly atmosphere, I would not suggest bringing children. It is not an enormous place and there are display cakes and breakables everywhere! Pros: Quality, taste, price, free tastings on Saturdays Cons: Don't take credit cards more

Great cakes for any occasion 4/6/2007

I used Das Meyer to purchase a cake for a friends baby shower. The cake turned out beautifully, and they were so helpful in decorating, as my friend opted to not find out if she was having a boy or girl, so they did the cake in a jungle theme to match her nursery and it came out amazingly. So many compliments, everyone at the shower was afraid to cut the cake it was so pretty, and tatsy, we got the Chocolate rasberry truffle...so good! Pros: High quality work, no matter the occasion Cons: No credit cards accepted, hard to get in and out of more

Grateful New Customer 3/30/2007

After a negative experience with Rheinlander bakery in Arvada, I am thrilled to be a new customer with Das Meyer. Beautiful cake decorating and friendly service. They listen to the customer, which in the end, makes them the better bakery in Arvada. I have converted my friends too! more

I am always delightfully suprised by the decoration of the desserts. 2/27/2007

When I want to really treat my guest I place an order with Das Meyer. It is an easy, beautiful and wonderfully tastey end to a meal. Pros: The best cake and sweets that I have found in all of Denver Cons: Not always easy to park, cash or check only more

The Best Cakes On The Planet. 12/10/2006

The cakes at Das Meyer are the most beautiful and best tasting cakes I've ever had and I've traveled over the world. There are NO corners cut, with only the best quality butters, creams, and vanillas available. They host a cake tasting and tea on Saturdays for brides and others getting ready to order for a big event. Customers choose the cake look they want from several photo albums, or custom cakes are available as well. There are hundreds of flavors available for frosting, filling and cakes; the possibilities are endless (try the strawberries and champagne!) They did the cake for my wedding and will be doing the one for our upcoming 10th anniversary as well. Oh -- and dependable? They delivered to my wedding in Downtown Denver in a blizzard. On time, no less.\r \r more

Wonderful Birthday Cake! 11/6/2006

My family ordered me the most beautiful cake I have EVER had from Das Meyer. It was a hazlenut tort and had beautiful flowers, blackberries and strawberries on top and the sides. If you want someone to feel extra special, order a cake from here as it truley is a work of art! The cake itself was so delicious with a wonderful german flare (which is my fave!). It is a little more pricy than Costco or Safeway but well worth the price. At Das Meyer, you get what you pay for and I am so impressed with this adorable place! Highly recommended!!!! Pros: Great Location, Excellent cake; Ambience, Extra Parking Cons: They do not take credit cards more

Best Tasting Cake and Beautiful! 6/26/2006

I used Das Meyer to make the cake for my wedding, and it turned out better than I could have imagined. I went to tastings all over Denver, because let's face it, how many times in your life are people begging to give you free cake? \r Das Meyer had the best tasting cake of anywhere that I went. I like that they had predefined cake/filling combinations, such as Creme Brulee, so you didn't have to guess what would tast good together, like I had to do at a tasting at Child's Pastry. \r They have free tastings every Saturday morning (and different flavors available each week). My husband and I went twice and fell in love with the Chocolate Lovers, Strawberries and Champagne, and Creme Brulee flavors.\r They were easy to book, but I should admit that we booked a year in advance so that had something to do with it. The price was better than any other bakery that we visited. And the only issue was its location, because it isn't very central. They delivered, however, to our wedding venue in central Denver.\r Pros: Great tasting cake, Beautifully decorated Cons: Its location is off the beaten path more

Best Cakes in Denver 6/21/2006

We also used Das Meyer for weddings. Both of my daughters chose Das Mayer after tastings at Karens, Gateaux, and Childs. The cake is simply delicious and in every flavor variety you could want. We had Bailey's and Chocolate, Rasberry Champagne, and Strawberries in a Cloud for one cake. The staff there is helpful and willing to make every accomodation. The final product is beautiful. But there is more than wedding cakes there. We go there weekly for pastries and pies, which are all just as delicious as the cakes. I think this is the best cake shop and patisserie in Denver. Pros: The bakery is a darling little cottage with ample parking. The staff has expertise and wants everything to be just what the customer wants. more

Great Cake 5/12/2006

Das Meyer Fine Pastry Chalet is excellent! The atmosphere reminds one of a gingerbread house which stores lots of tasty goodies. Everything in this shop tastes great and the service is friendly and upbeat. We particularly like the cakes. The flavors of the cakes and frostings are delicious--like Mom made them homemade from scratch but even more perfected by a fine pastery chef. The beauty of the of the cake decoration is phenomenal and far surpasses ANY bakery including Childs, Karen etc. They made our wedding cake in 1998 and we have celebrated every family occasion with a Das Meyer creation since. Mmm, Mmm good!! Pros: cake decoration, excellent flavors, great service more
