Review content:
My fiance and I were trying to book Das Mayer for our wedding. We attended a cake tasteing and worked out the prices and talked about when we wanted it, but we were told that we couldn't book them until 6 months before the event. Three months later, we heard through the grapevine, however, that other people we knew with weddings after ours were already booking Das Mayer for their wedding. We went today to try and book them and they told us that they had a previous annual engagement and would be unable to make a cake for us. Needless to say, my fiance is freaking out as our second choice is already booked and we now have to scramble to make up for lost time. What gets me is that if they had looked at the date of our wedding when we first tried to book them, we could have avoided this whole mess because thay knew about the conflict even back then. Also, when they discovered the conflict, instead of trying to work around it, which is what I tried to do, they gave up on our business giving us only the option to pick it up 2 days early, and store it ourselves until the wedding because they are closed to the public on Sundays. I would think that if we were gong to take the time and effort to pick it up ourselves that they could let pick it up on a day when they are 'closed'. Shouldn't they be the ones trying to work things out with us?\r \r Das Mayer has a reputation for this kind of poor customer service, and I would like to suggest that this reputation is well earned. I know now that the most important quality in any business is reliability and the ability to adjust to adversity. Das Mayer gave us bad information on when we could book them and then simply refused to work with us when thay discovered a bump in the road. They are definitely not the place you want to entrust one of the major components or your wedding. I would be very weary of any place that gives up on you at the first sign of trouble. Good luck to all you couples out there. Keep looking. Pros: Cakes taste good Cons: Horrible service, poor management of bookings
