We bought tickets from a man in Times Square for $20.00 each. He told us that with this deal we would NOT have to buy any drinks, and that it would be fine for the 13 year old ....

Wonderful Club!!!! 10/17/2011

My husband and I took my children to the Comedy Club in 2009. They had never been to a comedy club and had a BLAST! Service was very good and the comedians kept me laughing the entire time. When I told my boys that we would be going to New York in 3/11, they both said, "We want to go to Dangerfield's Comedy Club. " more

HAHAHAHAHAHA! 3/21/2011

The first thing I noticed when I got into the place was its dim lit and cozy atmosphere, accompanied by a grand piano sitting right up on the stage. It seemed to be straight out of the 1920's. The very retro decor was very comfortable and exciting. Each comedian that performed was funnier than the next. The show was quite long, a total of about 3-4 hours, after which my face and stomach hurt from laughing so hard. However, the comedians did tend to pick on people a lot, regardless of where it is they sat. If you get offended easily, then it is quite possible that Dangerfield's is not for you. The only reason that I would not give Dangerfield's 5 stars would be due to the fact that that although you leave with a belly full of laughter, you leave with an empty wallet. The two drink minimum is pretty standard for a lot of New York comedy clubs. What was not standard, however, were the two $14 watered down coca-colas. Nevertheless, the staff was quite nice and even offered to take a fourth off of the bill for the inconvenience. Despite the over priced drinks, I have never laughed so hard at any other comedy club in my life. more

Probably the best comedy club in the city. We went for the weekend show and had a fantastic time. The comedy was top notch. We had the discount tickets from their website(which a free to download). The drinks were reasonable for NYC. Would go again. Highly recommend. more

They are CRIMINALS! They STEAL from you & then kick you out 12/15/2010

I came to the club wearing a shearling coat. The coat check woman said she'll put two coats on one hanger, gave me one tag. When the time came to get coats back, she only gave one coat, NOT the shearling one, as you might guess. I called a manager. He called security ppl and they surrounded us so that nobody could see/hear us and they kicked us out. It all happened because i was new to New York and very often I felt lost. As PROFESSIONAL CRIMINALS (as they really seemed to be) they sensed it and treated us as dirt. I can only hope other people will treat this manager guy the way he treated us. CRIMINALS!!!!!! more

David The Voice and Matt Florio made up for bad service 1/22/2010

The service was bad but who could stay angry when we had such funny comedians. David The Voice Stein and MAtt Florio were hysterical. I will come back! Pros: Very Funny people Cons: Bad Service more

2nd Time here - Very Good - Very Consistant 12/21/2009

The comedy is consistently good, they put a lot of effort into making sure of that, it's no accident. This was my second time there, and we had fun. Drinks prices are normal for NYC. You can get some cheap or free tickets off their web site. Probably the best comedy deal in NYC GT Pros: Both times Have been Very Funny Cons: none more

Not the best... 6/21/2009

I went here for a date a few weeks ago and let me please say, NEVER GO TO A COMEDY CLUB FOR A FIRST DATE. I gave this place 3 stars and that was being very generous. They are pretty inexpensive, offering 2 for 1 most nights, but the place looks like it's stuck in the 1970's. The tables and chairs are small and wobbily, positioned on weird angles which makes it very difficuly to see the show unless you are placed right in front of the stage. The show I saw was ofer 2.5 hours long and that would have been great if the show was funny. 2 out of the 5 Comedians were pretty good (not great, but pretty good)... the others were less than satisfactory and the MC wasn't funny at all, he was actually quite annoying. Needless to say, I was ready to leave an hour into the show, but I didn't want to be rude, so I stuck it out. I ran out of there as soon as it ended. Pros: A few funny performers Cons: Atmosphere, Super Long Show, Uncomfortable & Outdated Decor more

This is absolutely worth seeing - a true classic and in a great neighborhood. there were laughs non-stop and the people were good too. the drinks were worth it. there was this comdian that just bust out with these one liners, that had everyone rolling on the floor. I would recommend this club to everyone who has a sense of humor. Pros: Great comedians, good service more

A++ 2/28/2009

I have been to many comedy clubs in New York and in Florida. Dangerfields is by far the best!!! The service was great and it's definitely an experience like none other. The staff was very friendly. Our drink orders arrived very quickly. Let's not forget about the comedians...I laughed my butt off the whole time and didn't dare miss a word they said. If you are in New York, I highly recommend going to Dangerfields...You don't know what you will be missing Pros: Funny show more

Laughs, Laughs, Laughs 2/27/2009

Second trip to Dangerfields and boy, oh boy, was it good! My first time was almost TOO much fun (how often can you say that?!) so I NEVER thought my second trip would live up to my first time! It was amazing! Dangerfields manages a tight ship: staff was friendly, tables were clean and spacious (nothing like you'd expect from a NY comedy club!), You get the MOST FOR YOUR MONEY . This place REALLY cares about it customers and REALLY appreciates their business. After all, the LAST thing anyone wants to spend money on is a bad night out on the town. This was perfect Pros: Funny more

Great Laughs 2/27/2009

By far the best comedy experience i've had in years. The first performer, a woman named Jessica Kirson, was hilarious. our entire party had a great time. The other comics were funny as well and the MC (a guy from the south) was great. The service was good. Dangerfields is more like a nightclub than most comedy clubs. No dark black walls and dirty bathrooms here. great date spot. highly recommended Pros: Great Service, Great Comics Cons: None more

Best Night Of Our Trip 2/27/2009

We went to the nine o'clock show at Dangerfields last night. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. The gentleman who checked us in was very pleasant and actually quite funny which put us in a confident mood and prepared us for the talent to come. Our waiter had great knowledge of the menu, and was always around when we needed something. The show was very entertaining. I was introduced to a lot of comedians that I had never had the chance to see. I specifically enjoyed Kurt Metzger and Joe De Rosa. The highlight of the show was when Donnell Rawlings made a special appearance and blew the crowd away for about half an hour. The last comedian, Geno Bisconti, was also very good. The show was very edgy, and very entertaining. I would definitely recomend this club to anyone. Amazing service and great comedy made for the best night of our trip to New York City. Pros: Very Good Talent Cons: Few more

What a Funny Night 2/27/2009

I went to this particular comedy club a few times- and had a blast EVERY time. The two drink min. isn't that bad. The talent there is superb as well. Dangerfields is such an intimate place, too. You really feel connected with the talent. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS COMEDY CLUB Pros: Great Comics Cons: None more

What A SCAM! 1/26/2009

The website clearly states "NO REQUIRED FOOD OR DRINK MINIMUM". We sat down and the waiter was just throwing drinks at us because he said you need to each have a min of 2. I called the next day and was hung up on twice. Would NOT go back. more

Cost more than I thought 1/20/2009

We took my son and 7 of his friends to Dangerfields for his Birthday. The comedy was great but the website stated, and I quote "No Required Food or Drink Minimum". The first thing that was said to us was there was a 2 drink minimum per person. I had looked at all the websites for comedy clubs but picked this one because even though the price was more than most, it was made up with by the no drink minimum policy. My son got the party that we sure weren't planning on. Our $100 bill turned into an almost $600 bill with the price of the drinks and the gratitute added on. Most of the drinks were sodas or "virgin" drinks, only 2 of the 20 drinks had alcohol. The other point was that I definately asked when I called was about the humor at the 8pm show and was told that it was very toned down because they know that there are younger adults (teens) there. Well the last act got so bad with the sexual jokes that she ended up demonstrating a man on top position on the piano. Even I found that offensive - and that's not an easy thing to do! So to wrap it up, good comedy, small venue and way TOO EXPENSIVE. Pros: Comedy was good Cons: High cover charge and a surprise 2 drink minimum per person more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Co-founded by legendary comic Rodney Dangerfield (hence the name), this stand-up room has been in business at the same location since 1969--a rare feat for a comedy venue. Though you won't see the club's namesake around very often, Dangerfield's rare policy of no drink/food minimum makes this comedy destination one of your better bets in terms of yuks for your bucks.

    The Draw
The weekly bill of performers always features a national headliner as seen on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show," some Comedy Central progam or even one of Dangerfield's own HBO specials (which incidentally are taped at the club). But if your looking for real laughs, don't just show up for the recognizable names. The real talent here is found in house regulars like Nancy Redman, Richie Byrne and Billy Burr.
