Best

While the owner can sometimes be curt, she is very helpful and informed. All of the staff are kind, and spend as much time with you as you need. They know what all the local dance...

Worst

I like getting the dance wear over there. I don't like the people there though. I was getting ready for pointe and I tried on pointe shoes. She said I don't look like a ballerina....

AVOID AVOID AVOID 9/18/2008

The woman who owns that store is the meanest woman I have ever meet in my life. She will insult you and your kids then take your money. She is awful and nasty. Don't give her the time of day! Cons: the owner more

Rude, rude, rude staff! Condescending, snarky, unprofessional - SAVE YOURSELF THE TRIP and go elsewhere 9/16/2008

Pros: Could be a great shop if they just get rid of the owner Cons: Prepare to have your self-esteem tested and your patience tried more

Horrible customer service!!! 7/22/2008

I am a professional ballet dancer, who got under a terrible service of this dance supply store. The owner is ridiculously rude, I've never seen such bad customer service of a dance store. I was shocked by the way I was treated there. She literary made me cry! I don't know how can they talk to their customers with such attitude and rudeness. Not only the owner is rude to the customers, but also very greedy about the cost of the dance items. I was trying to get a discount because of the school I go to, but instead I was almost yelled at... People who work there are extremely obnoxious.People, keep off that store for your own sake! It was a huge mistake of me getting in that store. more

Excellent customer service 7/20/2008

My child and I go to Dancer's Image just about once a year for shoes and we are always served quite well. The staff is friendly and very sociable. They do a very thorough job of ensuring that one is getiing the best fit depending on foot size, expected growth, and shoe type. We have always been serviced very well. On our last visit, actually, we all decided that no purchase was necessary as my child's current shoes were fine for the foreseeable future. So, I expect to be back probably in about 6 months (rather than a year). more

Excellent customer service for 8 years 4/15/2008

Like with ANY business, we all have possitive and/or negative experiences. I was a regular customer for 2 years before owning The Performance Factory, which is a performing arts studio, located in Waltham, MA. After 6 years of being in business, I have dealt with SEVERAL stores on many different levels. Weather buying costumes, referring students to have fitted shoes or even referrals for inventory they didn't supply, Dancers Image has ALWAYS been fabulous. My students receive a generous discount along with excellent customer service. Yes, sometimes the owner can be a bit out there but COME ON! She knows what she's talking about and her staff is excellent. I tell ALL of my students to purchase their footwear there because I know they will come into class with properly fitted shoes, unlike other surrounding dance stores who just want to get them in and out. I'm not a friend...not a family member. I really don't have a connection with Dancers Image, other then the fact that I trust them on a business level %100. If I didn't, I wouldn't take the time to write this review. I also wouldn't recommend them to my students because that would make ME look bad and that just can't happen. more

Read this before you enter! 4/6/2008

I am an 18 year old Boston Ballet student who made the mistake of stepping into this store more than once. The store owner is rude, inappropriate, and condescending. I have never felt worse about myself or my years of hard work than after spending 30 minutes in this store. She comments on students weights, the schools they attend, and the outlook she has on their future. She is nobody... has never had ballet training herself and is truly a miserable person. She doesn't know how to fit pointe shoes and talks wayyyy too much about her daughter. There are so many other stores in the Boston area that are so much better than this one. While somewhat of a drive, Dance This Way in Concord is an amazing place. The owner is down to earth and enjoys helping girls. She will bend over backwards to help her customers and has made shopping for ballet gear fun. Avoid Dancer's Image at all costs. I guarantee you will be disappointed. more

Ignore the owner's personality, they know what they're doing with dance shoes and clothes. 3/28/2008

While I wouldn't sit down to coffee with the owner (I agree she can be sour, blunt and abrupt), I have repeatedly received good customer service from the owner and her employees. I have found them knowledgeable about their merchandise, especially different kinds of dance shoes, how to fit my daughter's wide feet, selecting more economical items when appropriate, etc. My daughter has more than ""a little belly"", and we have never heard a single snarky comment about her body. It is a specialty store, and the prices are specialty store prices; you couldn't get most of this merchandise in department or discount stores, and I am not willing to schlep out to Concord or Burlington at this point. more

Dancer's Image, Newton, MA 3/13/2008

I have been an unhappy customer of this establishment, unfortunately, more than I wish to admit to myself. However, the other day a friend of mine had yet another horrible experience here. Not only was the owner very rude and condesending to her, but she was extremely mean towards her children as well as her mother. She even went so far as to lock the door behind them once they made the decision to just leave. Can you imagine? Haven't we all had enough? She once again lost another great and loyal customer who has young children and will be buying dance merchandise for many years to come. How this woman is able to stay in business is beyond me. Cons: Rude, Condesending, Unprofessional, Ignorant, Inappropriate more

It OK store for me 3/12/2008

I was surprised by such bad reviews. I visited the store several times and every time I received a decent service. I agree that prices are higher than you find in Wal-Mart or Target. But not everything you can find in Wal-MArt or Target. I was not looking for basic leotard, I was looking for speciality clothing, like very low-rise pants and crop top (I need them for belly dancing) and staff was able to help me and get me what I was looking for. Even when I came with my daughter to buy a basic leotard staff was very friendly and cooperated with my daughter while she was trying every leotard she liked. I heard no unprofessional remarks, instead I got all the advice I asked for and even more, like recomending other stores and options to avoid buying expensive stuff and how to do some costuming myself. I also got advise about the different dance teachers in the area. Pros: Close to gymnastics school my daughter is attending Cons: Expensive more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! 10/28/2007

I've dealt with this place -- and the rude, unprofessional staff -- for nearly 10 years. Not on a regular basis, mind you! Every few years, I go back to give them the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE!! Nothing has changed, the owner is worse than ever, they don't care if they mislead you, as long as they can bully you into buying from them. The worst part is that the owner gossips openly about everyone, and doesn't hesitate to use names. Just look at how she treats her employees!! EVERYTHING YOU READ IN THE OTHER THREE REVIEWS IS 100% ACCURATE!! For a shopping experience that is the complete opposite of this crazy place, try Patterson's / Back Bay Dancewear in Burlington. Lovely, lovely people, very knowledgeable, great selection; will order anything for you, are happy to give discounts to all dance students. Pros: They're pros at being jerks Cons: RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL OWNER; OUTRAGEOUS PRICES; BAD ADVICE more

Worst Customer Service - do not bring children 10/18/2007

I, too, had the unfortunate experience as the other two reviews describe. more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/18/2007

I had an unpleasant experience with this place. The customer service is awful, and the owner/ staff are unprofessional and rude. It has taken me a few days to finally calm down and realize how bad both my child and I were treated. We were insulted by the owner as she was speaking directly to us about our body images. We were spoken and talked down to in the most disturbing way. She made suggestions on clothing sizes for my child that was totally inappropriate and suggested that I should join a gym (mind you my child is 6yrs old and a peanut, and I wear size 8 clothing, didn't know that was a crime these days!) She recommended control top dance tights for my child because she told her that she had a ""bit of a belly!"" What professional or any person in their right mind say that to any child? This all was said and done around other customers. I will never step foot in that place again! I have no clue how this woman has stayed in business throughout the years! I sincerely hope that nobody gets treated the way we were that day. I hope the next person that she does this too will be as kind as me and walk away instead of feeding into her verbal abuse. more

Advoid at all costs 9/28/2007

first time to the Dancer's Image store in Newton,MA. The service was AWFUL. The owner/salesperson wa very snooty and condesending. She was making very unprofessional comments under her breath but loud enough to hear. Her assistant was clueless as far as merchandise is concern. I had more knowlege from research on the web than the help at the store. Cons: rude customer service more
