Dallas North Aquarium has a huge variety of goods for your fish tank. You can find ANYTHING here. For tons of $$$. The prices here are jacked up. Service is okay, not as friendly ...

Won't honor quoted prices..no honor 3/21/2012

I have been a frequent visitor of DNA for over 10 years! I rarely buy because the price points are so much higher than other retail LFS. The staff although kinda gruff have always been knowledgeable. I don't go to make friends so I don't care about their attitudes.\r Today, I called for a price on a Rena canister filter. I had bought one a month or so ago for my show tank & wanted another for my community tank. Scott quoted me $104 . I went down to pick it up and was told it was almost $180! I Scott, was there and confirmed he had quoted me $104! The price now - $164. \r manager came over an offered me 20% off but would not honor the quoted price which got me to drive from Frisco to Carrollton. \r I'm an honor guy. If a business isn't honorable and true to their word I would never deal with them..and won't any longer. more

Lacking customer service 11/12/2011

This place does have a friendly staff, but management is poor. I bought a fish site unseen over the phone. It was a showpiece for a 250 gallon saltwater oceanic tank. They said i could keep it there until my water and rocks finished curing. Three days after i went in and bought another fish they sold my centerpiece. Management made a halfhearted effort and basically said we look for another one but probably wont be as big. Great answer as a replacement. Pros: null Cons: null more

Great place to do business! 6/3/2011

I recently purchased at 210 gallon marine aquarium from DNA. I worked directly with the owner, John, on the sale. From the point of talking through what I wanted, getting it out there and set up, to support after the sale, he has been fantastic. Always makes as much time as I need for questions, and I never feel rushed. His people have been great too. Always very attentive and educated on their products, as well as the fish they sell. Every time I walk in the store I am treated very, very well, and never feel pressured to buy. These guys have a wide variety of fish as will as equipment. I have been to a few other places, and have found none with such exceptional service, as well as a very clean store. I am picky about where I spend my money. Folks that act that they don't care, don't get it. Doing business with DNA is a pleasure. more

Awesome Stuff 4/11/2011

Just a short note on how well i enjoyed dealing with Dallas North Aquarium. The 10 Mexican dwarf crays that I purchased from you are doing so well, I put another order in for 12 more of them on Sunday. The service I got was A+ in my book. John, Abby, and Rico made my first time trip great and made me wanting to come back again, which I will do. I believe I will become one of your regular customers. Also I love all your aquarium tanks for sale. I believe that I have found my second home. lol Thanks 100% for helping me. more

Best Aquarium Store Around! 1/7/2011

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this store!!! They have an incredibly knowledgeable staff and are always around to help ? unlike at many standard pet stores, i.e. Petsmart, where you can never find anyone to assist you and you end up knowing more about fish and aquariums than the employees themselves. Even if you do not have an aquarium, this store is still a place you can go to just visit and look at the amazing selection of fish. My husband and I often go and spend hours just looking at all of the exotic fish. Free entertainment! :-) Pricing is as to be expected. It is a specialty aquarium store, so the prices typically are a little higher than just buying products at Petsmart. However, the selection is absolutely amazing compared to Petsmart, Petco, etc. I highly highly recommend the Dallas North Aquarium for any of your aquarium purchases! more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE 9/21/2010

I went to the store and it was empty. The salesman were just standing there like zombies. It took me 15 minutes to contact a salesman. When i asked a question they were RUDE and did not know their product. Please find a stoe that will give you good CUSTOMER CARE. more

GREAT! 7/30/2010

I have read complaints about the service to houses and offices from people. I don't use the service so I don't know if it really is that horrible. However, I love the store and I am on a first name basis with the sales director. He is very knowledgeable. Even when he is gone, the staff gives good advice. I only have saltwater, and the store is clearly mainly saltwater which is great for me. All in all, I LOVE it! more

Nice selection, but... 7/19/2010

Great selection of fish - large variety of both freshwater and saltwater fish with nice specimens and both. There are some sick fish, but the staff is very honest, and will tell you when the fish are sick, and not to purchase them at that time. \r \r I do have one problem with them. They sell dyed fish. This a very cruel practice that shortens natural lifespan and is typically not seen in respectable fish stores. To read more: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/beginnerinfo/a/paintedfish.htm more

Great selection/fun store, but purchase fish with caution!!! 4/30/2010

Overall, I am a fan of Dallas North Aquarium. They have a mind-blowing selection of equipment and supplies and food and decorations, some of it overpriced but some priced very competitively.\r \r They also have a seriously good used equipment isle, where you can get MAJOR deals on filters, pumps, lights, small tanks, sumps, skimmers, powerheads, and more. (The stuff isn't new, of course, so usually needs a good cleaning, but wow, is it worth it!!!)\r \r The staff are by and large very knowledgeable, especially Cole and the black gentleman who handles aquatic plants (I don't know his name). The staff do work on commission though, so unless you are cute girl you may have a hard time getting help with low-dollar fresh water stock. \r \r Now, on to the fish themselves!!! I have two words for you: CAVEAT EMPTOR (buyer beware!!!!). The selection can be very tempting, but DO NOT BUY FRESH water fish from these people unless you have and USE a quarantine tank. I am serious. I'm not saying y more

Awful Service 4/1/2010

The staff that actually comes out on location arent bad but the "service managers" or whatever are completely inconsiderate. We had 1 fish die.. .which apparently infected the tank now we have 3 dead fish and services tells me to take them out. It has been 3 days and nothing... We pay them $300 + a month for me disgard the dead fish. NOT SO MUCH. I hate watching the other fish die (hate it) but what am I do to without a net?!? more

Amazing in some respects and not so great in others... 2/6/2010

Pros: \r \r A great big wonderland of fun for aquarists of all kinds.\r \r Really good selection of foods, substrates, tools, equipment, decorations, meds, chemicals, rock of all kinds, etc.\r \r The staff really DO know fish, and will answer all your questions.\r \r I have had very positive experiences with them accepting returns on inverts that perished and even replacing a heater when I shattered it. \r \r Cons:\r \r Some stuff IS definitely overpriced. \r \r Dispite being a big fancy place, the health of the fresh water fish is not what I expect from a high quality aquarium store. I'm not calling it Petsmart, but you WILL find dead fish and very sick fish in those tanks, so buy carefully. I get the impression they care more about their saltwater stock. They do tend to have a pretty good selection though, so it's always worth a visit. more

WOW - not what I expected in customer service or warranty 12/1/2009

I contacted Dallas North Aquarium to set up my aquarium . I spoke with Charlie who arranged for someone to come to my home and they even selected the fish. It's been three weeks and several of the fish have disappeared and three have been attacked by other fish. I called and spoke with Charlie who was much less the gentleman this go round. Since such little time had passed since they set up the aquarium, I asked if the fish could be getting sucked up through the filter. He said that it was possible but they guarantee nothing past 7 days. I asked if they felt any reponsibility since they selected the fish that were attacking others. Again, they do not hold themselves responsible in any way after 7 days. more

One Smiling Dentist 11/4/2009

I have a 175-gallon bow front reef at my practice as well as a 225-gallon reef in my home. I also have a 575-gallon pond at the entrance to my practice. If you want to see how well Dallas North Aquarium takes care of their customers, come see me! My tanks and pond always look outstanding, and my 47-year old service guy busts his behind to make sure it stays that way. As a professional who strives for 100% customer satisfaction, I can assure you I would not be using them if my tanks did not shine like my client?s teeth. I use many of the latest additives in my tank to make my corals grow, and just recently purchased some LED lighting at the office to add more pop to the tank. Come see the wall mounted bow front at my Plano office Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are also on the web: caranodds! Pros: Awesome service, beautiful corals and fish more

Dallas North Aquarium is a complete joke! 10/24/2009

As some others have indicated on their recent reviews, Dallas North Aquarium's service is a complete joke! The first several years with them were pretty positive from both a livestock and service perspective. We probably spent over $10,000 with these clowns over the years. The following is a synopsis of what we learned and what happened to us over a 6 year period of time. So before you spend a bunch of money with them and get screwed read the following VERY CAREFULLY. 1) Service kids showing up without an appointment - Over the first few years, it didn't seem that big of a deal. But over time a pattern of behavior emerges that makes is very obvious there is no mistake. It is a simple unabashed, covert smoke and mirrors routine to increase revenue. As they "just happen to be in the area" they thought they would stop by and see if we needed service or "we had you down for an appointment routine." The net of it is the service department is run by a guy named Charlie who will try more

Good selection, not so good customer service 1/28/2008

There is a very large selection of fish, but there are some downfalls. The prices for a lot of their fish and supplies are kind of high. Not only that, but I took home 3 fish to only have 1 live. I told the shop I had Barbs, which are semi-aggressive, and they told me a crab would be okay. I bought a bottom feeder crab and it was eaten. more

BEWARE. FISH HAVE DISEASE AND KILLED ALL MY FISH. 9/11/2007

I BOUGHT TWO AFRICAN CICHLID AND WITHIN A WEEK THE FISH STARTED TO GET SORES. THESE FISH CONTAMINATED MY TANK AND KILLED ALL MY FISH. IM VERY UPSET AND LOST ALOT OF MONEY DUE TO THE DISEASE FISH. more

Nice fish 11/29/2005

Dallas North Aquarium is a best store to beat all fish pet stores. They have very nice aquariums set up with all kinds of fish. They have salt water and fresh water and will show you how to set up either. They have all the things you need to set up and maintain your aquarium and your fish. The prices are good and the staff bends over backwards to help you and inform you about your fish. more

Excellent acquarium in Dallas 11/13/2005

They have different kinds of beautiful fishes and good selection of aquariums. It is a perfect place to find almost everything that you need to have aquarium.
