Best

I first went here as a young boy, 20 some years ago. It was my first cheesesteak and defined the standard for all that followed. Nothing on South Street compares. I'd pick up o...

Worst

but not as great as Larry's on 54th Street. The place is incredibly filthy, but I didn't come here for the atmosphere. I ordered a cheesesteak w/ fried onions and ketchup. It look...

Simply the Best 8/18/2002

You can keep those South Philly cheesesteaks ----never was impressed anyway. Now Dalessandro's knows how to make a cheesesteak!! The rolls are always fresh and the steak is cooked to perfection. Actually, the first time I had a Dalessandro's steak was in Aspen, CO (transported in by die-hard fans) and I have been hooked ever since. Every time I visit Philly from the West Coast we go to Dalessandro's. Simply the BEST. more

HOTNESS 8/14/2002

a truly transcendent experience. you may be able to have a cheesesteak in another city or at another restaurant, but you can only have the true philly funk in one place--dalessandro's! make sure you get all the peppers you can! more

DRIP 8/14/2002

Steak sliced the correct way with just the right amount of cheese. more

Cheesy all the way!! 8/14/2002

Plain and simple...The bread/rolls are always soft and chewy...the chicken and beef is always tender not full of grissle...and cheesy man cheesy!!!:-}) Ive been to most of the others but I gotta say ""Dalessandro's"" is the very best of them all!! GODs blessings! Pros: The freshist bread!, Generous w/meats!, Generous w/cheese! Cons: Establishment too, small for eating in. more

Eh? 8/14/2002

Not bad, but, the meat is chopped up like hamburger and they didn't have a cheese selection (only had American), at least when I went. Big with lot's of meat though. Pros: Big Steak sandwich Cons: No cheese selection more

Yum! 8/14/2002

Dalessandro's is the best. The rolls are always the softest and freshest around. The meat is never chewy and they add just the right amount of cheese. The staff is friendly and you feel like you are eating right out of your own kitchen. Pros: taste, price Cons: seating more

Slammin 8/13/2002

Dalessandro's is the ultimate steak shop to experience the true flavor of Philadelphia. You haven't been to Philly if you've never had a Dalessandro's cheesesteak! more

Delectable Dalessandro's 8/13/2002

These cheesesteaks are the best I have ever tasted. They are so good that everytime I visit my hometown of Philly, I make sure I carry them on the plane to take home to Idaho. I recommend Dalessandro's for anyone who loves cheesesteaks or for anyone who has never had one! Pros: Inexpensive, Worth the Wait, Best Tasting Cons: Long Lines, Scarce Parking more

theyalso serve beer 8/13/2002

The steaks are great and they serve beer as well. Also, you can sit inside so the birds can't steal your meal. more

From San Diego to Roxborough 8/12/2002

After seven long years on the west coast, I drove into Philly. one think on my mind... Dalessandro's... Unfortunatly, I did not get there right away. Imitations on the west coast compare to the mediocre attempts of other steak shops. They can be good, but nothing compares to the true and pure.... Dalessandro's. I got my cheesesteak before retuning to San Diego, I wear my Dalessandro's T-shirt with pride out here and hope that it wont be 7 more years until I get the real deal again! Pros: true to the old style, consistant product, damn good! Cons: parking, seating (always busy) more

Starvin Marvin ain't Starvin no more 8/8/2002

Man, you now if Marvin Harrison eats his stakes here, it's gotta be da place to go. Good as heck more

The Taste of Perfection 8/8/2002

With the american cheese(no cheese whiz nonsense)melted throughout the entire steak sandwich, one bite of a Dalessandro's cheesesteak is definately not enough. While eating the steak on a fresh amoroso roll, you have the option of washing it down with a cold beer to give that extra bit of satisfaction after a long day at work. They don't need to deliver. The aroma the creeps from the cracked doors will persuade one to stop in for a sandwich while driving by. Pros: fast service, ample parking space, inexpensive Cons: crowded, run out of rolls fast, run out of tuna fast more

great steak period 8/3/2002

While they give all the credit to Pat's, Jim's, and Geno's there are many places like Dalessandro's that put those steak places to shame. The other places get all the fame because they are located in South Philly. Cons: crowded more

BEST STEAKS IN PHILLY!!!!!! 7/31/2002

Dalwssandros is the best steak in philly the only rason celebs go to genos, pats or jims is cause of the hype there sanwiches have too much fat in them in my opinion but they r still good steaks.dalessandros on the other hand is a great steak it has no fat in it and there is plenty of meat on the sandwich and it is a great roll and this is the best steak and ive tried them all. more

delicious 7/30/2002

Best Cheesesteaks around! I have been eating cheesesteaks for a long time...these are the absolute best! more

Pat's...Geno's...Please!!!!! 7/26/2002

This by far is the best place in the city of Philadelphia to get a cheesesteak. Pat's, Geno's & Jim's are tourist traps. Beware! Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious Food, Fast Service more

Delly's Rocks 7/24/2002

Cheez Whiz on cheesesteaks are for tourists. White American or Provelone are the only way to fly. Delly's is open when you get the jones for a good steak. There is no other choice amongst these other pretenders!! Pros: tasty, location, price Cons: Roxborough more

No competition 5/24/2002

Been driving there for at least 30 + years to get a tasty steak sandwich. Nothing like it at any shop. Only my mom could make a steak better than Dalessandro's. Me & my kids still stop in for a steak in Roxborough, whether it be my moms or Dalessandros. Pros: fast service, real steak meat, neighborly Cons: no tables, counter service, limit on parking more
