My Standard 12/19/2010

I first went here as a young boy, 20 some years ago. It was my first cheesesteak and defined the standard for all that followed. Nothing on South Street compares. I'd pick up one on the way to the skating rink and after enough ice, I'd pick up one on the way home. Kept me dancing. Now, I'm in Costa Mesa, California and there is nothing that even resembles a cheesesteak like Dalessandros! It's like what airlines would come up with for a cheesesteak. more

Great steaks 11/2/2009

You walk in and you can hear the steak sizzling. The smell just gets your stomache rumbling. Pros: Great steak and old school lunch counter more

THE BEST CHEESESTEAKS IN PHILADELPHIA 6/25/2009

BEST CHEESESTEAKS EVER 2/21/2009

dalessandros puts cr@ck in their cheesesteaks which is why they keep me coming back for more. i moved away from philly but i still dream of ordering 2 cheesesteaks with sauce and onions with lots of red cherry peppers on the side. Pros: great bread, unbeatable meat, sauce and onion toppings are awesome, get peppers Cons: you have to wait even when you call ahead. more

Now this is a cheesesteak! 12/14/2008

Yes, the place looks like a hole in the wall. The seating is horrible, the parking is not much better. But who cares! When it comes to the cheesesteak itself, there is no place in Philadelphia (and therefore, the world) that has a better one. Words can not describe the taste - you just have to eat one to know that you are in cheesesteak heaven! Add the onions, forget the sauce, and just sit back and enjoy! You will probably want to order a 2nd one! Pros: The best cheesesteak in Philadelphia (and therefore, the world)! Cons: The place lloks like a dump more

Best in Philly 11/30/2008

Forget Pat's and Geno's.They're not even close. I grew up eating ""Deli's"" and have missed them since I moved to the burbs. I stopped there on the way home from the Phillies parade with 4 friends, 1 veteran Deli's eater and 3 rookies. It was everything I remembered. Chopped light, perfect roll. All 3 rookies ate more than usual. I have to get back more often Pros: Best cheesesteak in Philly Cons: Parking tough more

Best cheesesteak ever 10/23/2008

I eat at Dalessandro's four times last week. more

Beats all the REst... Best Cheese STeaks in Philly hands down 5/8/2008

Love the food. Best Cheese Steaks try it with provolone! Best hot pepper selection too! Who whadda thought?!! Also for best pizza in Roxborough try Alex's Pizza but they don't deliver. Pros: delicious food that melts in your mouth Cons: a moment on your lips...forever on your hips! more

Consistently delivers a FANTASTIC cheesesteak! 5/4/2008

I work nearby and lunch out quite a bit. When the sun is high, I hunger for MEAT!!!!! YUMMY MEAT!!...really Yummy MOUTHWATERING soft bread. Pros: Quality meat. Friendly staff. Cons: Nothing I can think of! more

Dalessandro's Downhill 4/21/2008

Dale's use to be the best cheesesteaks in Philly (when it was family owned). Ever since St. Pats day Dale's was sold out of the family. It is now run by Greeks who are apparently cheep. The meat is fatty and the sauce is sub-par. If you go after 10PM many nights the roles are hard and sometimes even cold. Many of the original faces are now gone and have been replaced by mexicans (nothing against mexicans but its just not dalessandro's). RIP Dalessandro's, I am now starting a new life at Chubby's. Cons: Much grissle in meat, not the same after it was sold. more

Great Cheese Steak!! 2/9/2008

I've tried them all since moving to Philly 5 years ago and without a doubt, hands down Dalessandro's is the best! Pros: Great Cheesesteak Cons: Cash only more

The king of cheesesteaks 1/21/2008

When you go to Philly, you get a cheesesteak. And when you want the best cheesesteak, you go to Dalessandro's. I've got the address programmed into my GPS and whenever I'm close (within 75 miles or so) I make the detour. They are that good. I also have to bring about 10 back to the folks up here in CT because there ain't no better. A day or two later when you heat em up right, they are just as good as the day they were made. Mmmmmm mmmmmm good! I've tried em all and there's no beating the original... Dalessandro's. Pros: Fantastic Cheesesteaks, friendly people Cons: Can't think of any more

Overrated - Go Across the Street to Chubby's 10/16/2007

Overrated steak shop, Go to Chubby's. I've been eating cheesesteaks throughout the Philly area for decades now, oh and yes I'm born and raised. The best steaks aren't Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, or Dalessandro's, it's Chubby's across the street. The service is fantastic and sandwich is excellent. Good roll, quality chopped meat, great hot peppers, a nice sandwich overall that has both the quality and quantity. Go to this hidden away gem across the street from Dalessandro's. more

My Favorite Cheesesteak 2/22/2007

If I had to choose a best cheesesteak, I'd go with Dalessandro's. Gooey Looey's would be a close second. Getting a cheesesteak with ketchup and a Wishniak is the way to go. It's highly addictive. Pros: Best Cheesesteak Cons: Crowded more
