Pawn Shop Quality 4/16/2007

I went to this store on Cobb Parkway to browse rings with my boyfriend. The salesman acted like he was very accomodating to our requests, however, they could not furnish any rings that we actually liked. They have a huge inventory, but the store is set up like a pawn shop. It's dingy and the rings look mass produced. I was asked to walk away so that the sales person could talk to my boyfriend one on one aboue the ring...this is when the pressure started. After telling the salesman that we were just getting an idea of what we liked he said my boyfirend must buy immediatly to keep a good price. When he said no the man immediately dropped 1K off the price ( talk about misleading) When my boyfriend explained again that this was just a browsing visit, the sales person met with his manager and took another 500 off of the price. Finally my boyfriend said, No I'm sorry and asked for the mans card. The man refused and said that would be a waste of his time... then told my boyfriend that the manager of the store said that he thought that "" he (my boyfirend) was just shopping for a big screen tv"" ... whatever that means. He also said that he didn't think that a ring was in my boyfriends future and that he didn't think that he wanted to get married bad enough... talk about horrible selling tactics. These people are offensivle adn takcy. DO NOT BUY here you will be disappointed for buying on impulse. We were extrememly dissapointed with our "" used car "" experience at this store. YUCK Pros: NOTHING Cons: Rude sales team, scams, high pressure, Junk diamonds, misleading prices more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS, not even worth the time to stop in and look 4/16/2007

Its not worth the time, because they will keep you there forever. They put an uncertified, inexperienced kid with jeans and a tee shirt to help you. Then when you're not happy with a price, they ""talk to the manager"" for you and get them to move it down. I tried to explain that I was just looking and browsing all the stores to see the different styles of men's wedding bands. And they wouldn't accept that. They offered me a price that was good just for that one time. I tried to explain, this is a wedding band, I'll have it for life, I'm worried about getting the perfect ring, not worried about saving $40, so I want to check as many stores as I can to make sure i get that perfect ring. They didn't understand and insisted that I put $50 down and they would be able to beat any price and get any style that I could find. They lowered the ring I was looking at from $399 down to $220. I thought maybe this is a good deal, but I still didn't want to put down the $50 that he kept pressuring me to do. He was so confident that he could beat any price and match any style, but if he couldn't, and I choose not to buy from him, they'd keep my $50. It's a bullsh*t scam. They make it sound like its a deposit to hold the ring and you could get it back. They are under the assumption that every customer wants to buy from them. They are rude as hell when you walk away too. They tried to tell me that they never heard of a man saying they were looking for a ring to last them for life and didn't care to save a few bucks. Well, I went to Jared's at my next stop and I found the exact same style that he was trying to sell me with a finer finish. They sold me a no-negotiating price of $179! I saved money, and had wonderful service. They were so friendly at Jared's, I can't wait to meet my sales person again, Vaughn, and pick up the ring. Vaughn wasn't even under commission, and is a wonderful person. Go to Jared's or Shane Co. instead. Pros: no thumbs up to give, except the thumbs up their a*ses Cons: rude, high pressure, try to scam you into making a non-refundable deposit, empty promises. If they truly had the best, they'd let me shop around without a deposit. more

BE SURE TO READ BEFORE ENTERING STORE! 3/13/2007

The people who have posted negative reviews are not exagerating! I would have thought they were, but after visiting the store in Duluth I know better. Before I start describing my experience, I have to say that the person who wrote the review describing his used car-like experience might want to have the stone he found for $18K at this store appraised and graded by an outside party (scary that someone would buy from these people). \r I recently visited D Geller with my girlfriend to try to get an idea of the type of ring she would like. After spending some time with one of their salesman, I asked if we could have the information on a particular ring, so that we could reference the ring as we continued to shop. He left to go write the info down, and returned empty handed. Then he asked my girlfriend to leave us alone so that we could speak. I listened to his pitch, even though I found it pretty rude, and politely told him that I wasn't interested in buying anything that day. He persisted, and I again asked for the info on the stone and ring. I was never allowed the opportunity to view the stone through a loop, or offered the grade of the diamond. Finally he agreed to go write the info down again, but two minutes later, another salesperson came out with the same pitch. I told her that I wasn't prepared to buy anything, and she started telling me that I needed to put a few hundred dollar (non-refundable) deposit down on the ring before leaving. I again explained that I wasn't prepared to buy anything regardless of the price. Finally a sales manager came over to interupt with a calculator, and presented a price almost $2K cheaper than the original, and told me to put a deposit down. I explained again, that I just wanted the info on the ring/stone. No dice! I was thanked with a comment ""When you're serious about buying, come back!"". It was the single worst shopping experience of my life. Who sells diamonds and doesn't talk about their grade? Fishy!!! Pros: Large selection Cons: High pressure, rude sales staff, feels like a sleezy used car dealership more

Awful Customer Service 2/28/2007

I'm amazed that this place is still open. I went there with my husband to look at earrings. Their high-pressure sales tactics are deplorable. We were unfortunate enough to have the manager's son as our salesperson. He harrassed us and even asked me to walk away while he spoke to my husband. My husband got so upset at the guy that he started walking out of the store. That's when his father, the manager, ran over and blocked my husband's path so that he couldn't leave! He tried to ""smooth"" things over. He began bargaining with us but we were so annoyed at this point that we ran out of the store. We talked to a few different people who have had the same experiences here. Stay far away! Pros: I can't think of any Cons: Customer service is awful more

HORRIBLE and OFFENSIVE 2/13/2007

My boyfriend and I have been looking at engagement rings. We were only going to Office Depot, but decided to stop in D. Geller and take a look around. We were approached by a sales girl immediately and told her we were ONLY LOOKING. So much for that!! We were attacked by 5 different people. It was as if we walked into the worst used-car dealership you could imagine!!! So unbelieveably pushy. They showed us one stone and were trying to force it down our throats. Since we have been looking, we know a little about diamonds and what we like and are looking for. We asked to see other stones. They never delivered. They were trying to get rid of this one stone (which they offered at a ridiculous, laughable price) that was very cloudy and full of flaws. It was insulting. They never even offered for us to look at it magnified. I was instructed to walk away 3 times so they could try and squeeze a down payment out of my boyfriend. We were treated as if we were a couple of suckers. We did not walk away from this place--we RAN! Hold on to your wallet and never do business with D. Geller. They give the diamond business a BAD name. Cons: Everything more

These guys deal and I had my way with them! 1/13/2007

These guys do business my way. Before going into D. Gellar I did my homework and shopped around (like their dumb commercials say) and found the best deal I could. They had several gemologists there and they had a jeweler who came out and talked to me about modifying my ring ( which no other place would do). I was able to look at a much larger selection of diamonds there than anywhere and the salesperson was pretty cool and joked around with me which helped me to feel comfortable, which was good because I was considering buying a $18000 ring and just a little nervous about it. These guys were real serious about doing business and made no bones about it. I told them I wasn't buying today and it wouldn't matter what they said. I was wrong. They were persistent, to say the least, but I ended up saving about $4000 compared to the next best deal I could find. I can't believe the wimps who complain in some of the reviews here about them. If they had a little thicker skin they would realise that this is the place to get DEALS! Everyone at D. Gellar was honest and helpful (and one guy was funny too). I will buy my bands from them and haggle them down on the bands too. Pros: Great prices Cons: a little pushy more

WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE I""VE EVER HAD! 1/1/2007

I have never in my life encountered anyone as incredibly rude as the sales staff at D Gellar and Son in Duluth. I was actually shocked at how high pressure they were, and how extremely rude they were. They were insistent on selling me a low quality diamond and a ring I didn't want. They didn't listen at all to what I wanted. After expressing my disinterest the sales rep said under her breath to another sales rep ""This f*cking idiot isn't budging."" I would not buy from D Gellar and Son if they were the last jewelry store in the world. I would not buy at this store if my life depended on it. People this rude do not deserve business. more

D Scheister & Sons ? Only 25% of their diamonds are even rated by reputable agencies ! 12/20/2006

My bf & I went here last week after doing tons of internet research and after visiting 6 other ATL stores. I had heard that this store would cut you a good deal. When they saw I had a binder of research they sent me to their expert gem buyer. I knew EXACTLY what I was looking for re the diamond and the setting, with pictures as examples. There was only one setting in the store that looked remotely like what I was looking for by Ashi, but the setting wouldn?t hold the size diamond I was looking for. I specifically wanted a radiant cut, but this expert brought out an elongated princess with 2 black marks in it ? visible to the eye. When I inquired, this expert told me that it was probably another semi-precious stone in there such as an emerald. Huh? Then he told me the two spots weren?t a big deal as there was really only one flaw ? it was just being reflected several times. What? Who spends $15K on a diamond with visible flaws that's not even certified by anyone but the diamond dude in the back of D. Gellar? Then he took this Ashi setting ? bent back the prongs with pliers and dropped this POS black spotted diamond in it. I asked if we could contact Ashi and have a setting designed to fit the stone and he told me I wouldn?t be able to do that as they weren't able to be contacted via the internet, as they are a mom/pop company in India known for their attention to pave detail and quality. \r Needless to say I didn?t buy and went home and googled Ashi ? the search yielded poor quality jewelry and the same setting on Ebay for $129 ? the one in the store was priced at $3,300. Do yourself a favor and do the research and don?t give these scheisters your business. Oh yeah ? you?ll get a great deal ? on a black diamond!!!!!!! \r The only positive thing I can say is that they've supplied me with some pretty funny stories to tell my friends & hours of laughs with my bf - unfortunately not enough space allowed on here for me to tell whole story. Pros: Funny Stories after you leave this dump Cons: Poor Quality, High Prices, Unrated Diamonds, They LIE!!!!! more

Excellent in all aspects 6/27/2006

About a few month ago we enter D geller after many trips to other stores to see what they had. My wife was all about a 3 stone pair shape ring but we were not able to find one at our price. Once we entered the store, we were greeted by a friendly young man. We took a look at the amazing selection and he helped us very patiently to find what we wanted. He told us about the great customer service (which i do agree) that they have, like lifetime cleaning for free. Im a man who knows a good salesperson from a high-pressure nobody who wants to sell. He told us everything we needed to know and it turned out he let us customize my wifes ring! They brought out the stones for us and let us choose our 3 stone setting. Most other places wouldnt bring out a stone to even look at. My wife is still inlove with the ring. We got individual attention from our salesman and all our questions answered. In the end we got a nice package price on it all and it was mounted and sized while we waited, which really suprised us. Ive been to Shane co & solomon, and jared before but i must say, D geller did an amazing job of finding my wife what she liked. Once the ring was done, My wife gave me the biggest smile ever not to mention we also go a free appraisal with it explaining all the color and clarity to it all. Rest assured we are coming back for the rest of our jewlery needs. Both me and my wife were truely impressed. It took a while but it was worth every second. Very professional and low pressured situations. They are not paid on commision. I am recommending my family and friends to d geller. Theres nothing to lose! Pros: Great prices, Very friendly, Big selection Cons: Easy to miss when trying to locate store more

Love this Place!! 5/15/2006

My family and I have been shopping with D. Gellar for 25 years. I've never had any problem with them. They have great customer service and will go to any lengths to find what you are exactly looking for. The prices are great. Look around if you don't believe me. You'll wind up going back to them. Plus the quality of their items are so much better then anywhere I have been. I will never shop anywhere else! Pros: Friendly, Prices, Quality Cons: Far from where I live more

Bang for the Buck 5/6/2006

I took the advice from their commercials and really did shop around. I was very surprised at the huge differences between all the jewelers. D geller and son was the only major jeweler in atlanta. I bought my diamond from one of the guys on the radio and i shopped it at other jewelers, not one could compete. So i got a great deal and i got the girl. Thanks guys! Pros: selection, prices, comfortable setting Cons: no beer, a longer drive more

My favorite jewelry store 4/16/2006

I have been shopping at D. Geller since I moved to Atlanta 14 years ago. They have a great selection and I have found they have very informed salespeople. What they don't have in the showcase, they will go to the back and bring out more. I have spent alot of time trying to make a decision and never felt rushed or pressured. I love their policy of upgrading and would continue to shop there in the future. I don't even bother to go to the others. I go straight to D. Geller. Pros: Great prices, Great selection, Knowledgeable staff Cons: far from my house, Wish it was closer more

Above and Beyond 4/16/2006

My fiancee bought my engagement ring from D. Geller. His parents got their rings there almost 30 years ago. I had never been there before, but we recently went to look at wedding bands. I absolutely love my engagement ring, but I was worried that it would be hard to find a band to match it perfectly (I'm a little bit picky). They were so helpful. We found the perfect band, but it needed to be altered slightly to make it fit with my engagement ring. They even had the jeweler explain exactly how it would be done. It turned out perfectly and we found exactly what my fiancee wanted too, not to mention the fact that they gave us really great prices. Overall, I was so happy with the experience and I am so glad that my fiancee got my ring at D. Geller! Pros: flexible, friendly, affordable more

Be prepared to buy, they give great deals 3/29/2006

I must have shopped in 3 other local stores before i went to d. gellar and sons. I guess since i am a woman, no one expected me to buy in the other stores I went to. I had my tax refund to burn! d. gellar did ask me to buy and i saved about $500 over the other stores that walked away from me after they told me the prices of the earrings that i was looking at there. Women do buy jewelry for themselves and I found a great pair of diamond studs at d. gellar. They are HUGE! Very satisified and I may upgrade soon. Pros: Huge selection, prices, knowledgable staff more

High Pressure, Basically lied in front of us. 3/18/2006

We said we were only looking. The salesperson showed us platinum and whitegold wedding bands saying there was little difference in the look of either metal and he said if we saw a platinum style we liked we could get it in whitegold. Thats where things went downhill. We told him our price range; the one ring I liked was platinum at $2000 which was over my limit. We asked to get the same ring in whitegold; he went into the back to see. Upon returning he started going off on how there was little difference between the white gold and platinum, and he started pushing the platinum ring on us and never even told us about getting the ring in white gold. He took $200 off but that was still over limit. He went into the back to talk to his manager and we walked out. Cons: Pushy Sales, Unprofessional, Tense Atmosphere more

Low prices, lots of choices. 3/14/2006

I am fairly new to Atlanta, so I read some reviews before shopping for an engagement ring. I had a basic idea of what I wanted based on my girlfriend's descriptions. I walked in, and someone helped me right away. I sat there for 2 hours looking until I found the perfect ring. The sales people were very patient with me. Without making much of a fuss, I asked about the price. They gave me a price that was way lower than the 3-4 chain stores I had visited already. I did not feel pressured. They gave me a lot of attention, and it was helpful since I did not know exactly what I was looking for. I will be going back when the next holiday comes around. Pros: Low Prices, Large Selection more

These guys are great! 3/13/2006

My fiancee' and I shopped around, and , when we came to D. Geller and Son, found just what I was looking for and it was at a great price. I don't understand these other mean spirited reviews. Pros: price, selection, service more

Prepare your escape 1/29/2006

One other reviewer put it perfectly. This place operates like a used car lot. The sales team consists of a bunch of 20-somethings that sell you like their next meal depends on it - extremely high pressure. At one point we were asked to sketch out the design of a ring we wanted on a piece of paper when we clearly stated we were just looking. HUH?! Two times our salesperson ducked away in back as we attempted to leave to either, ""show us something from the stash in back"" or ""get her business card."" We finally just walked out. I wonder how many times the security guard at the door sees that happen? If you have a brain in your head and any appreciation for customer service, you'll want to avoid this disaster. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Pressure, Pressure, Pressure more

Don't waste your time 12/13/2005

D. Geller & Sonc Jewelers is one jewelry store you want to stay as far away as you can. There is no customer service. The sales staff can't take NO for an answer. If you are persistent in buying ANYTHING from these shysters, you have been fore warned. Once you buy it, it is YOURS. You CANNOT return it for any REASON WHATSOEVER. These people shouldn't be in the jewelry business or any business for that matter. The staff at the department stores on their worst day are more friendlier than this bunch. You are now WARNED......STAY AWAY. Pros: ABSOLUTELY, NONE Cons: EVERYTHING, IS BAD INCLUDING, CUSTOMER SERVICE more

Watch out for this store 11/12/2005

Very bad, high pressure sales tactics (think: your worst nightmare used car experience). You are greeted by an inexperienced salesperson who has to ""talk to their manager"" to get you a better ""deal"" (the prices in the showcase are generally twice as high as comparables at other, reputable Atlanta jewelers). The manager comes out and proceeds to try to make you feel like you don't know anything about jewelry (weird). Then he suggests he is willing to lower the price but only if you buy on the spot (high pressure/preys on the easily intimidated). If you respond that you are not ready or want to do more shopping, he tells you that you are not the kind of customer they want. At that point, I just walked out. I have never had such an awful retail experience in my entire life. Cons: Bad sales tactics more
