AVOID!! This was the worst experience I have ever had in a retail environment. They saw me as a young person and tried to get me to put down $100 with no refund to guarantee a low price that they could ""only offer me that day."" Classic scheme that probably works on plenty of young couples. Every other jewelry store I went to was relaxed and educated me about the process rather than trying to reel me in to a quick sale. I will certainly never set foot in there again. more

My boyfriend and I went in there to find a specific brand of rings that this store sold (Verragio). We found the one I wanted and decided to put it on layaway after going through about 3 different credit applications they said we should try to get financed for the ring instead of doing layaway. Turns out, we didn't get accepted and it took forever to find out if we did or not during the process. We decided just to go ahead and put the setting and diamond center on layaway. A few days ago, I decided to go with a moissiante stone instead of a diamond right now for financial reasons. Went up to the store and told them we wanted to just pay off the setting and keep the diamond on layaway until we can afford it and just put a different center stone in the setting. Pretty much, this guy screwed us over and split all the money we already put over this time and said we needed to pay around $2,000 to get the setting. Came back today, we spoke with the MANAGER, who was so nice and helpful. He understood what we wanted and we got all the money switched over to the setting, which was enough to pay it off and got the moissanite center put in. The guy ended up taking more off the diamond cause we decided to just keep it instead of completely taking it off. If you come to this store (Cobb Pkwy) I advise you to talk to a manager instead of one of the sales people. They aren't trying to help you out, they just want your money. We had an issue trying to get the salesperson to put all the money on the setting and the manager was very nice about it and immediately helped us out with no questions or trying to screw us over. more

Went to D. Geller and Sons off Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw Tues Sept 4th for an engagement ring. Had already been to 7 other stores shopping for a specific ring. \r I had a picture of a ring I wanted and the sales person immediately told me it was no longer in production, but she could have it made for me. The other stores simply said ""We don't have anything like that"".\r Their diamond selection was extensive compared to other stores such as ""Your friend in the diamond business"" at the Haynes Bridge Rd location. I found the exact diamond I was looking for at about half the price of other stores in Atl. I bought it on the spot. \r I am having the ring made at a lower cost than similar items at other stores. No one else even offered this option! \r Best shopping experience I have ever had. I spent about two hours there and left knowing the manager and both sales ladies by their first names. Prices and selections were wonderful, but the level of customer service is unequaled in their business. I left there having made ""Three Friends In The Diamond Business""\r I hope to NEVER buy another engagement ring, but I will be back for anniversaries, holidays, and other special occasions. more

Don't waste your money 12/16/2011

It has been so long since I was there, I can't remember the actual purchase experience. However, the reason I'm giving one star (and wish I could give less) is that the grading certificate they gave us was a complete lie. I recently wanted to sell my engagement ring that I received from my ex-husband. I went to a reputable GIA appraiser in Atlanta and was told the ugly truth. My 1.05 carat diamond had been WAY over-exaggerated in grade by D. Geller. The only part they got right was the size of the diamond. They had given it a J color, and it was actually an L. They said the cut was good, and it was only ""fair"". They graded the clarity at VS1, and it was actually S1. Basically, this devalued the diamond by at least $1,700. We paid nearly $4,000, and it was only worth (retail) about $2,300 - being that that's the amount we should have paid for this sub-par diamond. And anyone who has tried to sell a diamond knows that you typically can't get even 1/3 to 1/4 of the retail price for it. So I unloaded my $4,000 diamond for about 1/4 of what the price should have been originally. LESSON LEARNED!\r \r My advice to anyone reading this is to get a GIA certificate when you buy a diamond - otherwise you may just be throwing most of your money away. Don't trust any store-issued certificate. The appraiser advised to buy used whenever possible. The truth is that almost all the diamonds out there were mined and cut a LONG time ago...they're almost all ""used"" anyway. And when you buy used (most likely from an individual), ask them to meet you at an independent appraiser with the diamond and certificate to verify the information. It's worth a couple hundred bucks not to get ripped off. Jewelry is NOT an investment. Just like a car, it drops significantly in value when you walk out of the store with it. Think of it more as an heirloom or sentimental piece. more

worked it right out! 1/8/2011

(Disclaimer: Am NOT an employee or owner!) After months of shopping for a wedding band to match our heirloom ring, we ended up decided to purchase something at D Geller because their prices were the most reasonable all things considered. My fiance decided he wanted to make a custom ring which Bobby did according to my fiance's specifications. When I saw it, I flipped right out!! It was definitely not what I wanted but Bobby was super patient with me and promised to keep working with us until it was perfect. He was as good as his word and we ended up with a ring that was flawless despite all of the changes we made to it and they didn't completely rip us off either! This place might be nothing to look at on the inside (Cobb pkway) but they are doing a serious business! more

Eh, so..so 10/22/2010

My experience at D’Gellar and sons was full of mixed emotions. As I went into the store I was impressed with how large it was. I looked around for a while when a man came up to greet me. I told him I wanted an engagement ring and he left me for a while while he brought out a loose stone. He did not explain to me the quality of the ring he just kept asking how much I wanted to spend. I honestly did not have a set price limit, I just wanted the diamond to look perfect on my hand. He brought out a smaller 1/2 carat and it seemed like he picked out a diamond based on my age and what I looked like. I wanted a bigger stone so I sent him back for something bigger. It seemed like he took forever to come back. I could also hear him back there talking to another salesperson seeming to disregard me sitting there. When he came back I was asking questions about the diamond and it seemed like he was skipping around my questions. Finally I decided to forget the diamond, so I asked about something for my mothers birthday. They had nice pieces, but I feel like they were more concerned about making the sale more than explaining the jewelry to me. On a better note when I did a pair of earrings I liked they will barter with you to bring the price down. They really seem to want your business and if you go to another store and find a price of something they will do their best to match it. Although, I do not see why they would not put their best prices out to begin with. It seemed like they were doing me a favor by bringing the price down, but really when I thought back on it I felt like I would be getting ripped off if I didn’t try my best not to buy something because then they would not bring the price down. It just did not make sense! Overall I would give D’Gellar and Sons a 4 out of 10. Friendly staff but the experience I had there was mixed. more

6 Stars for Outstanding! 7/27/2010

The reviews I have read so far, some have been ugly and unwarranted!! Aside from haggling price (which EVERY jewelry store will do), I cannot understand the ugly reviews because that was NOT my experience.....and I am a VERY picky shopper!! I had a beautiful solitaire that I wanted to reset into a new setting, and came to this location to look at their selection. I found a ring but continued to shop at other stores because I liked it but I did not LOVE it. After going to Jared and receiving what might have possibly been the worst customer service I have ever had, and Shane which did not have the selection of mountings I was looking for, I returned to D Geller & Son. This time, I found the most amazing setting in white and yellow gold with canary diamonds. Everyone in the store was genuinely interested in helping me and took a personal interest in making sure I was happy with the ring. No sales pitch, no desperate employee looking to make a commission (like Jared), no pressure. I got the most AMAZING deal on the price of the ring and am elated with the way it looks. I came back 3 hours later and the ring was set, cleaned, engraved, and ready to go immediately! NO WAIT and everything was complimentary, NO added fees! They even redid the rhodium on my wedding band which they did not have to do :) Jared wanted to charge you for everything!!! The warranty, to set the stone, engrave it, etc etc. Beth, Stephen, Connie, and Tiffany are all amazing and if you are looking for a pleasant shopping experience I strongly encourage you to go to this location and allow them to help you! You will NOT be sorry :) This was a big deal for me and they really made this experience one I will cherish forever. I will be returning for a new wedding band ASAP! Pros: Amazing staff that cares! more

D Geller ain't bad.. 5/19/2010

Despite what i saw on these reviews, we decided to take a trip to the Smyrna store a couple of weeks ago. I had no issues..? I got what i needed at a reasonable price and left. I was not pushed into buying anything. To all that read this, I think some of the bad posts on here are due to ""people"" (competition) not liking others in the market place. I would recommend them.. Just my 2 cents. Pros: close and affordable Cons: had to wait to be helped more

Great experience 4/19/2010

I had read these reviews here first and didn't want to go but I gave it a shot and I am glad I did. I needed an anniversary gift for the wifey and I found a 3 diamond pendant she had been asking me for the past 8 months. I hate shopping for jewelry but these guys made it easy and now she takes it there to get cleaned every month. I thought it was gonna be like a car sale but I found what I wanted under my budget so I told them they deserve to have a good review on here. Pros: Everything Cons: They need better radio commercials more

Great service, good quality & great prices 4/13/2010

I have been a D Geller & Son customer for over 19 years. I love that they opened a location near Town Center Mall. I just wanted to express my satisfaction at the service I have received over all these years. I go in annually to have my rings inspected, cleaned and re-appraised for insurance and have always been treated with superior service. Thanks! Pros: Customer Service more

great prices 3/9/2010

I spent a lot of time shopping around for a watch as a gift for my husband and I'm so glad I ended up at D Geller & Son. They were patient with me, spent plenty of time showing different styles and designers. They answered all my questions and were willing to work with me on price. I got a great watch for much less than what I saw at the competitors. I will definetly go back for all my jewelry in the future! Pros: very knowledgeable more

Drama 2/11/2010

You remember that scene from the movie Fargo, where the guy was selling a car to this couple, and he pretty much scared them into buying that sealant option? Yeah, its that bad. Notice the 5 star ratings read a lot like D. Geller commercials? How much you want to bet those commissioned salespeople are manufacturing good reviews to keep people coming in the door? You betcha. Pros: They have a good selection Cons: Just about everything else... more

very rude 12/28/2009

My boyfriend bought me a very nice neclace and earings from the one in Smyrna, so when it came time to get engaged we went there first. Well boy was I disappointed! The sales person was so rude and would not show me the quality of diamond I wanted to see, she kept showing me ones that were lower quality than what I wanted. Then when we found one that I semi liked and we said we wanted to see more stores she sent the manager in and she was even worse! When I told her what I wanted and she told me that what I wanted was ""to delicate"" for me and that it ""would look like a grandma's ring"" and ""wouldn't I like a designer one better?"" I wanted out of there very upset and disappointed, I think I know what I want as far as a ring. I went to another local jewlery store and got exactly what I wanted. I would never go back there because I was so insulted by both the saleswoman and hte manager!! more

Best Deal Around 9/14/2009

I shopped around a lot (Jared's, Solomon, Shane Co.) and D Geller easily gave me the best deal. The salespeople are not snooty, they're good people that will work with you on the price. Its an laidback place and I would recommend to anyone. Pros: Price, Location Cons: Informal more

Poor customer service!!! 2/19/2009

This was the worst customer service experience I have every experienced. They behaved as if they never have any customers and would do anything short of clubbing you over the head to purchase something. The first salesman never even introduced himself to us. The second who was a manager sent in after we reapetedly requested a business card so that we could return after visiting another store. The manager then repeatedly insulting us saying that ""we know you won't return because the average customer never does"" as well as ""people do not buy based on the best deal"". And then after I told him we would be leaing because I didn't appreciate the pressure tactics that he was using and if continued would not return...he then said ""you must be a teacher because teacher's get upset when you don do what they tell you to do"". I was blown away by how unbelievably rude and insecure Doug was. Their sales tactics were worse than a used car salesman. Even if the diamond was fifty dollars I would not buy it from them. more

A +++++ 1/21/2009

I could not be happier with my experience! I was a little apprehensive due to the some of the negative reviews but decided to give them a shot. First off, they had literally five times the selection of their competetors. and the deal I got on a BEAUTIFUL 1 carat pear cut diamond was untouchable. Without exaggerating I paid $900.00 less than what I had planned to spend on a comparable diamond at a leading competetor. ( The one in the tall building in Buckhead.) I was met with nothing but professionalism from my phone calls to the interaction in the store, nothing but class!! Mike was great, incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about these folks. You here the radio commercials, believe them. No b.s., hands down their the best, I am truly a customer for life. Pros: Unbelievable selection, stellar prices. Cons: I truly cannot think of one. more

Very, very pleased with D. Gellers!! (by Gwinnett Place Mall) 10/13/2008

I purchased my fiance's engagement ring at D. Geller & Son's a while back (I didn't want to write this review until I proposed) and I was very impressed with the level of service and the quality of the ring I got. Deena, the salesperson, walked me through the entire process; she helped educate me, she helped me pick a style (that my fiance loved!) and she was even able to get the size exactly right. At the end my first visit, I told her I'd like to shop around a little, and she said that'd be fine. I went to a few other jewelers, but they didn't have the selection of settings D Geller had, and their diamond prices weren't any cheaper, if not a good bit more. So I returned to D Geller's and made my purchase there. We later came back and bought my ring there, and I am, of course, very pleased with it as well. \r \r I'm not sure why this place is getting any bad reviews -- I wasn't pressured at all, and I found out the sales people there don't make even commission. If you're shopping for a ring, please try this place. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Great service, prices and selection Cons: bleak decor -- I guess that keeps prices down, though more

Continual Great Service (Even from out-of-state) 10/13/2008

I used to live in Georgia and was always happy with the quality and prices of D Geller. I now live in NYC and I basically have 2 options... buy from the big expensive guys (Tiffany, etc) or the very shady jewelers on every corner. I have been going to Tiffany, but you really are just paying for the name. I decided to call up D Geller and see if they would ship to New York. I spoke with Stephen and told him what I was looking for. Within a few minutes he was already sending me pictures of some diamonds in my price range... all of them much larger and nicer in quality than what I would get at Tiffany. I sent him a picture of the setting that I wanted. And the next day I had a package waiting for me. I couldn't have been happier with the quality and neither could my wife. more

overall a good experience 9/25/2008

I had an issue with my ring during sizing but D Gellar replaced the ring and made everything good again. The saleslady was very helpful when I originally purchased the ring and Stephen was very helpful when we had issues (Cobb Pkwy). We had an issue with the ring when it was sized at the kennesaw store. When we brought it to the Cobb Pkwy store and told Stephen about the issue he looked at the ring and noticed a hairline fracture caused by the previous jewler. Instead of covering up the issue and sending me on my way, the problem was fixed and he even set us up with a temporary ring until ours is ordered. I originally gave them a bad review but I now changed it because of their honesty and effort to make me a happy customer. I will recommend them to my friends as a place with great prices, slightly pushy but maneagable salespeople, and great customer service....\r one more thing, if you need for your ring to be certified, let them know. not everything they sell is certified so you just have to know what you are getting. Pros: Good place to shop if you like to make deals with salesmen (aka you like buying a new car) Cons: the person who resized the ring destroyed the integrity--had the exchange the ring but they were very helpful more
