My experience at D’Gellar and sons was full of mixed emotions. As I went into the store I was impressed with how large it was. I looked around for a while when a man came up to greet me. I told him I wanted an engagement ring and he left me for a while while he brought out a loose stone. He did not explain to me the quality of the ring he just kept asking how much I wanted to spend. I honestly did not have a set price limit, I just wanted the diamond to look perfect on my hand. He brought out a smaller 1/2 carat and it seemed like he picked out a diamond based on my age and what I looked like. I wanted a bigger stone so I sent him back for something bigger. It seemed like he took forever to come back. I could also hear him back there talking to another salesperson seeming to disregard me sitting there. When he came back I was asking questions about the diamond and it seemed like he was skipping around my questions. Finally I decided to forget the diamond, so I asked about something for my mothers birthday. They had nice pieces, but I feel like they were more concerned about making the sale more than explaining the jewelry to me. On a better note when I did a pair of earrings I liked they will barter with you to bring the price down. They really seem to want your business and if you go to another store and find a price of something they will do their best to match it. Although, I do not see why they would not put their best prices out to begin with. It seemed like they were doing me a favor by bringing the price down, but really when I thought back on it I felt like I would be getting ripped off if I didn’t try my best not to buy something because then they would not bring the price down. It just did not make sense! Overall I would give D’Gellar and Sons a 4 out of 10. Friendly staff but the experience I had there was mixed.
