I use to be a patient of Henderson and Walton. I had all four of my children there. Unfortunately I lost my son while he was still in the womb. His twin brother however did survive. I am not sure why I continued to keep going to this practice with all my pregnancies because they treated you horribly. You waited for over an hour to only be in the room for 3 minutes with the doctor. The doctor who delievered my son's was horrible and rude! Baby A ( who survived ) was born frank breech. The doctor did not even know he was breech until his behind was crowning. If it was not for Baby B's water breaking my son would not be alive today. After the tramatic births of my son I was pressured into having my tubes tied and cut. When I went into the procedure I was lead to believe that was exactly what she was going to do, Tie and cut my tubes. When I woke up I was told I was implanted with a horrible device called Essure without my concent. Fast forward to a couple years, I went back because I was having problems due to the Essure. That's when the dr told me I would need a Ablation to stop all the bleeding. The doctor knew I had Essure but still did the Ablation which I later found out is not suppose to be done with Essure. Now I am 33 years old and have to have a hysterectomy due to medical malpractice because of this practice. When I went to get my medical files they told me they destoryed them because it had been 10 years. I informed them that it was impossible because I had the Ablation 5 years ago. It took me forever and threatening to involve a lawyer to recieve my medical records. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE! more

Do not waste your time and money! The staff nurses are unconcerned with issues patients face. Three months later and I still haven't been able to schedule appointment for a test that I can't even find on Google! Not to mention they never told me what the testing was for, what they were looking for. They are a money hungry facility that heard people through like cattle. If you are looking for a reliable, caring staff this is not the place you want to go. I wish I had read some reviews instead of taking the recommendation of a friend who had just started going to this office. more

I would recommend this practice to everyone. The staff is caring and my physician spends time with me in the exam room. I love that I can get my mammogram and bone density done without leaving their office. Great place! more

I have been a patient of Henderson & Walton for many, MANY, years. I have always been welcomed with friendly faces each time I have come in for my visit. The doctors are all wonderful and caring and helpful no matter what you may be dealing with. The nurses are very friendly and I LOVE being able to get my mammogram all in the same place!!\r \r I can't think of going to any other office for my GYN care and I encourage anyone who is reading this post to consider using Henderson & Walton!!!! They are simply the BEST!!! more

Just like there are ""puppy mills"" in dog breeding, this place is a ""baby mill"". The level of care I have received at this place is just about equal to having no OB care at all. You will rarely see ""your"" doctor. What doctor you do see will literally be in your room for two minutes or less. I have had some serious issues during this pregnancy and at one point had lost over 10 lbs in two weeks. I had some severe vomiting, weight loss, and swollen throat and was unable to get out of bed for quite some time. I called the doctor's office a week after this all began and was prescribed TAMIFLU! When I read about Tamiflu and found that even if it was flu that it is only effective within 48 hours of symptoms, I called the patient care line to ask questions and was told that I could either take the medicine or seek care elsewhere! It took an additional month of begging doctors for help there (all the while being told it was stomach acid or morning sickness) before finding out that I had a very bad throat infection causing it all. A round of antibiotics helped tremendously but they wouldn't even stay in the room long enough to find out what was wrong with me or even take a look at my throat when I told them it felt like something to do with my throat was causing the vomiting. You NEVER talk to a live person when you call them, only voice mails. They MAY call you back the same day and they may not. As far as a caring nursing staff, you can forget it. The nurses are (for the majority) rude and condescending. At one satellite office I experienced two nurses yelling in each other's face whilst I was only feet away in an open lab area! The different office staff members speak poorly of the other offices in the presence of patients. They must not review your chart before they come in other than the numbers from that very day and since it is impossible to see the same doctor the majority of the time that becomes a HUGE problem! They are unprofessional, courteous, and though we are less than a handful of weeks away from delivery, we are considering dealing with the hassle of switching to another clinic. Delivering at St. Vincent's is NOT worth putting up with this office. more

Great Place! 9/7/2010

The wait time may be long, scheduling might be hard...but my doctor, Allison Heaton is amazing. The staff there is always loving, caring, and I never feel rushed out. The wait is long for a reason, they take their time with you. I have had 2 babies with them and hope for a better place for birthing and maintaining my gyn needs. Love this place! more

Two different sides 8/6/2010

This is a two sided review. On one hand you have the ob/gyn's office in Tuscaloosa which is wonderful. They always seem to fit me in and the staff is great! more

Great Dr. 8/6/2010

Dr. Woods is a great doctor. He answers questions and always sees me even if the nurse practitioner does my exam. He is a very compassionate and caring doctor! more

Awful! 6/8/2010

They totally treat you like number the last time I was there they were still paging you to go wherever they wanted you.... You have to wait FOREVER for a 2 MINUTE exam and a pat on the knee! When you call to try to talk to a nurse it's impossible and it's even worse to try to talk to the doctor so they tell you to make an appointment so you make the appointment, wait for 2 hours see the doctor for 3 minutes, get your pat on the knee and get sent back out the door... or and don't forget your copay!!!! I wouldn't refer anyone to this baby factory! Pros: The nursing staff is USUALLY nice... Cons: Wait time, no patient attention, terrible phone service more

Do not go here if you are interested in your health. 11/8/2009

I could write a book on why you should find another facility. The last straw was my latest visit. I begged for the ovarian cancer screening test. My mother and both of my aunts have had ovarian cancer. Mom caught it in the early stages, but one aunt is dead, and the other is going through her 4th round of chemo. Doctor Charles Hudson's response? "You're probably fine since your mother didn't have it full blown." Yeah, because she got a hysterectomy VERY early. I wonder what his grades were in med school. Pros: Sweet nurses. Cons: Long waits, no doctor attention, poor scheduling more

Not What I Expected 5/21/2009

I have been seeing Dr. Ingram at H&W for several years, and have never had any issues until this latest visit. I am usually seen by the doc & walking to my car within 1.5 hours, but this time spent longer than that sitting in the waiting room. Once I was finally called back (urine specimen + finger stick) I had to wait because there were several others ahead of me in line. This has never happened before. After that, I returned to the waiting room for another 20 minutes. When I was called back to see the doc, everything was so fast-paced I could almost feel my head spin! Within 5 minutes I had stripped down, had my bp taken, and the doc was writing my refill scripts. I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing her by asking questions about changing my ocp to generic, and questioning the pill she wanted to put me on. (I guess I should mention that I'm a nurse, and I know a little bit about the profession.) During my "checking out" time, the entire front office staff was too busy looking at someone's baby pictures to take my co-pay, so I waited a good 10 minutes there as well. It seemed a bit ridiculous to me. I spent a grand total of 10 minutes actually seeing the doctor. 10 minutes that I waited almost 2 hours for!? Is it worth it to me to continue my care here? Probably not. more

Unacceptable doctors 2/17/2009

I am new to Birmingham and asked friends for the name of a doctor for my yearly check-up. Dr. Cynthia Lassiter was recommended. I went for the visit and waited 1 hour and 55 minutes for her to see me. She did a complete physical and was out of the room in less than 3 minutes! I timed it. She did apologize, stating that she had a baby to deliver. I can understand this - but since I am past the childbearing years, decided to call the clinic and ask for another doctor that does not do the baby circuit. (a gynecologist) The next visit was with Dr. Charles Hudson. My wait was 1 hour and 13 minutes. He was in the examining room with me for less than 4 minutes, gave me a prescription 'to make me feel better' and was gone. Pros: If I have to say something nice - the people in the lab were pleasant. Cons: I was treated like a number by the doctor, given a prescription and sent out the door. TWICE! more

Unacceptable Wait time 11/6/2008

I have been a patient here for over 5 yrs and generally loved it. But my last visit in 2008 was horrible. The wait was unacceptable. I was in the room waiting for the Doctor for over 1hr. Mind you she was not on call. In addition, she did not apologize for the wait. Note that this was in addition to the long wait in the waiting room. more
