Hot Spot 2/27/2010

I love the drink Cuba Libre. I have eaten here a few times and loved each time I went. I like the atmosphere and even though I have only ate my meals there, I am sure that the night life is quite good too. I plan to return soon. Pros: Cuba Libre Cons: Space more

Great food 1/5/2009

We were there on a Saturday night around 6pm--a little early for the real ""scene"", it wasn't loud or crowded yet--but the food was delish and the margaritas were pretty good too. I would recommend this place to my friends. more

fun and chic 9/19/2008

I absolutely love Cuba Libre, I'm not much of a club person, not at all actually but I love to go out on a Friday night and have a good time. Cuba Libre has a great atmosphere, beautiful decor, beautiful people and exquisite food. I have actually never eaten anything at Cuba Libre that I didn't absolutel love. Every time i go back I have a new favorite dish. Like other reviews stated, there is a long wait (though it is well worth it), the music is loud (but really, if you go out on a weekend night, it is to be expected anywh ere), and the waitstaff isn't the friendliest, (though they are by no means rude). Cuba Libre definately hosts a younger crowd, 20 to I would say about mid 30's. I highly reccommend it if you are looking for a fun night out with friends. Pros: Great food, great ambience Cons: long wait more

Worst/Lazy/Nasty Rest. 8/17/2008

worst service ever 6/26/2008

I was so disappointed, I had wanted to try this restaurant for some time. I went with friends from work, sat in the bar and although the food was good (very camparible to Glorias who provide chips, salse and black bean dip to all tables without cost to the customer) the service was very bad. The table we sat at needed to be cleaned as the customers who sat there before us had eaten and the restaurant did not clean the table before we sat down. When we asked the waitress to clean the table she wiped it with a dry cloth, we asked her to actually clean the table, she did but was visible irritated. I spilled my drink after a couple of sips, the waitress handed me a stack of coctail napkins to clean it up myself. She brought me another drink but charged me for both. I of course paid and I understand that I the drink spill was my fault but I believe most any other restaurant would have not charged me for the first drink. The waitress asked at one time if we were finished with our appetizers, we were not so she left them but came back a few minutes later and took them off the table without asking us. When were ready to leave an asked the waitress to spiit the check we were told that it was a restaurant policy not to split checks. We finally got them to split the check after a lengthy explanation to the manager who was irritagle and talked to us in an angry tone. When we informed the manager that the waitress did not say anyting when she took our order she went off with an explanation of how unreasonable it was for us to expect that they would inform every table of the policy. Really? I am often asked when in a group if the order should be on one check or not. The manager also lectured us about how, on our next visit we needed to inform the waitress prior to ordering if we require seperate checks. Don't worry, we will not be back. There are a whole city full of restaurants with fantaitic food to spend my money on bad customer service. more

When in Rome... 1/30/2008

The place is called Cuba Libre, so it just makes sense to try to signature drink. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. I absolutely loved the brisket tacos and strongly recommend ordering a Cuba Libre (like a frozen rum & Coke). It gets pretty busy there, but it's a great place as long as you're not too uptight. Pros: Cuba Libre Cons: Can get crowded more

Worst Place EVER 11/14/2007

This was one of the worst experience ever in my dinning history in D/FW in the three years I have relocated here. Want to talk about poor service. Don't even speak to the server. She didn't listen to not one word I was requesting. \r \r For example my drink order. She messed it up and got an attitude because it was the incorrect one. Then I requested a bowl of soup, and she talked me out of it.... saying it's a really big bowl. (so in other words because I'm tall and thin she thought I was incapable of eating a dish of that size.) \r \r Then my meal did not appear to be the correct item, but I did not send it back. At this point I'm so discussed with her. Then I reeeeeeeally wanted the Key Lime Pie. I said hold the raspberry sauce that comes on it. I only to learn with a food runner brought it out...guess what? It had it on it. Then I asked if the key lime pie was tart? She didn't hear a word I was saying only trying to push a different desert. \r \r I was on a date that was ruined! She offered to pay for the meal (the server that is) and I stated to her ""I hope you don't I'm paying for it.....and she continued to want to hear me put her down, so I gave it to her. \r \r This doctor knows right from wrong so if you ever ever want to go here? Pass it up...not even worth your visit/money/time/energy/let alone effort. This place needs to just close it's doors.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nasty service , nasty food, nasty everything. I am so freaking upset if only you all knew...~! Cons: The pits more

Really poor service 10/14/2007

Go elsewhere- This place is just a bad experience. \r \r We made reservations and still had to wait over twenty minutes. Note - the arrogance and stupidity of the girls at the front desk serves as a warning of what you will experience! We were finally seated by the manager, a strange guy named Jon Morales, once we complained. He asked if we wanted appetizers which we ordered. They came quickly enough but the regular server did not attend to us until we were almost done with the appetizers and then asked if we wanted drinks! We went ahead and ordered and the food was just slightly better than average, warm, and definately not worth the hassle! \r \r All in all this place is just bad and will soon go the way of the Samba Room. Pros: Frozen Cuba Libre is the only thing they got going Cons: Staff, food. anything you would expect from a restaurant more

very average. 6/18/2007

if you live in the suburbs, its really not worth the drive. you are better off going to el fenix or something comperable. plantain chips and the drinks were the highlight of the meal. other than that, it was very bland and americanized. if you are looking for cuban food dont go here. go to carribbean cafe on webb chapel and beltline. over all it wasnt necesarily BAD, but it definitely wasnt outstanding., more

Not worth the attitude 9/9/2006

I have been a regular customer at Cuba Libre for years because I love mojitos and the food has been interesting. However, after last night, I won't go back and I deeply regret the $53.00 I spent for my dinner and two drinks. At first, I thought the food service was efficient (even though salads arrived as we were eating the appetizers, entrees arrived as we were eating salad, etc.). Once we paid the check (which was also rushed), we were asked (by the slight manager in a pink polo) to relocate to the bar because he needed the table. No explanation, no apology, just a request to please move along. I can assure you that my girlfriends and I (a Dean, an assistant Dean, a business manager and a lawyer) were nothing but well behaved - I guess we were offensive in our desire to sit and chat since we hadn't seen each other in a while. Well, don't worry Cuba Libre, we won't be taking up any more space in your unrefined establishment. more

It's Latin Fusion Cuisine, Not Cuban 5/28/2006

If you go to Cuba Libre with the intention of getting authentic Cuban cuisine, you'd be disappointed. It's creative fusion cuisine, with touches of the Caribbean in its plantain chips, mango salsas, jerk sauce, and drinks like mojitos, caipirinha, and of course, the Cuba Libre (served here as a frozen version that was slightly too syrupy sweet for my taste). The food did not disappoint, tried the jerk chicken eggrolls, roasted pork loin, and grilled mahi-mahi, all were fabulous. Desserts are portioned on the larger side, so make sure you share. The atmosphere is fun and trendy, perfect for a girls' night out, and the patio is quite nice for a weekend lunch. Pros: Atmosphere, Creative Cuisine more

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Horrible service. 3/22/2006

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Horrible service, probably the worst I've ever received, and I have been there 3 times. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Lively Crowd Cons: Service more

Americanized 2/24/2006

We went on the basis of enthusiastic reviews, but were generally disappointed. Nice ambiance, lighting, decor, and great service, but the food is strictly Americanized... In other words, it was put through the deflavorizing machine... No spice; just mediocre. I sympathize with the chef's dilemna... trying to cater to a market that basically savors blandness. The outdoor dining is also strictly Americanized... In other words, with a high wall separating diners from that frightening, terrorist-filled world outside . Pros: service, ambiance, clientele Cons: bland food more

Great food! 11/1/2005

So popular I enjoy going early before the crowds. If you like seeing and being seen, it is definately worth the wait. The entree's are large enough to split and the desserts are not to be missed. Banana Bonuelo dessert could satisfy 4 people. Servers treat you like you are their friends. Everybody gets special treatment. The place to take my out of town visitors. Pros: excellent quality, servers work together, generous portions more

Fun! 9/8/2005

This is a great place for a good meal at a great price. Pros: Food, Docor, Service Cons: Parking, Extemely Loud more

Fun spot 3/11/2005

We came here for lunch and the booth was nice. It's obvious the patio is happening at night. more

fantasic...just make reservations 7/24/2002

The best eclectic food in Dallas and under $25 per person. Executive Chef Nick Badovinus (of The Mansion on Turtle Creek fame) has virtually doubled the old menu with his savory creations. You're always safe with one of his specials. Come hungry! Pros: inexpensive, good location, frozen drinks Cons: reservations more
