Not obligated to buy from or speak well of... 9/20/2009

Awful experience today. Usually, its not that bad. You wait 10-15 minutes to make it through the register; your items are scanned; you pay; then your receipt gets checked at the door on your way out. Problem, what happens when after a gruelingly painful count of your items there is one more item in your cart than on your receipt. The receipt checker tells you to go back! When you look back you see the barrage of traffic coming your way and your B+ starts to boil a little over a $4.00 bag of mini-bell cheese-balls. I start to complain. Why can't we take care of that right here? It wasn't my mistake; but I'm willing to pay, so why don't you have a system in place to let me pay right here when your checkout process misses one. The manager is involved now. I'd say his name, but I'm not positive I'd give the right one. He was maybe 6'1"" to 6'3"", white, with short brown hair and a ear ring. He says, ""Well, you're not obligated to buy anything!"" Case solved. Of course, he said more, but that's what I honed in on. Now, I'm just hot! I thought of dropping my membership right there, but it expires in November, so I think I just won't renew. Costco does have some excellent employees, but if that's really the management's attitude, I'm definitely not obligated to frequent their business. Fortunately, we've had a Walmart open nearby, and they carry much of the same stuff anyway. Pros: Good vegetables, Decent Food Selection, Pharmacy Cons: Manager's Customer Skills, Long Lines, Inefficient Checkout. more

The Durham Costco is a favorite of mine. It has seasonal specialty items at unmatched prices. Anything you might want to serve at a party or social gathering can be found here. The management and personnel are helpful and accommodating. The lines are short and fast compared to similar stores. During a holiday rush time, I left my pocketbook behind. It was returned the next day missing nothing including cash. Costco has extended services such as travel, auto sales and service, and decorating. I have shopped at this store since their opening. Use their Amex card for 2% savings anywhere. Pros: Bakery, Meat Dept., Phot Shop, Electronics, All-inclusive Cons: Some items not a bargain more

Poor Customer Service/ Management/ Slow Opitical Shop 5/29/2009

I have been to several Costco's through out the US. I have never been questioned by management. Instead the management at this location made the specific point that a GPS that I had once purchased at there location displayed a different model number. If that is the case, it would have been due to the inaccuracy of there system or the cashier that rang in the product. At any rate, after I returned to that Costco, during the following visits I had to go to the customer service desk because the cashier had stated that there was some type of a flag on my account. All of these events added 20-30 min to my shopping experience when I had an alotted schedule. I have also spent several hours in the optical dept there waiting in line where they had 2 rows of chairs set up. If an optical shop has 2 rows of chairs set up would that not be a clue that more hired help could alleviate problems. I am not sure what the solution is; According to past history it would be more time efficient to drive an additional 20 min out of my way to avoid this Costco; and report the issue to Costco headquarters. By reading other peoples reviews I can see that I am not the only one the feels this way. Cons: Slow Customer Service more

Poor customer service 1/22/2009

I like Costco in the broader sense- it's a good company for getting bulk foods at lower prices. But this location has terrible customer service. \r \r I have bought food and taken it home only to find it was expired, then been treated rudely (with no regret or apology) when I spoke to the manager about returning it. I observed this same manager refusing to honor a product warranty for another customer. Costco can be a great place-but stay away from this location. Pros: good prices Cons: terrible customer service more

Is this place for real? 1/26/2008

Wow! This an awful store. It's like a factory outlet that you have to pay to enter. Their selection of goods are laughable. They say you'll save money on a 10 gallon jar of pickles. Which you won't, when you break it down into unit wieght. But who really wants a 10 gallon jar of pickles. Really, this place lacks almost everything that makes shopping pleasurable. This struck me after standing in line, at checkout, for 15 minutes because the warehouse is understaffed. Canceling my membership was the best thing I've done in a while. Cons: you name it more

Good Stuff 2/6/2003

Costco never disappoints. A lot of great stuff if what you're looking for is A LOT of great stuff. Pros: Gallons of barbecue Cons: Gallons of mustard more
