Worst

I'm really disappointed to write this review. I have never even been tempted to write a review for any other establishment, but after my last few visits to Como's I feel the need ...

Seriously overpriced menu 5/19/2009

I keep swearing I'll never go back to this place but I keep getting roped into it. Went today and the pizza was ok at best, canned mushrooms on a $14.00 medium pizza??? $4.50 for a dinner salad, $2.75 for a kids milk??? Are they kidding. The last time I went the chicken tenders I ordered for my kids were raw. I really think the pizza quality is going downhill seems worse every time I visit. The owners really need to review their pricing, I really like to have a salad with pizza but the prices are ridiculous. I hope I never have to go back. Pros: Great Patio Cons: Food, prices, service more

Too Expensive for Ferndale 11/1/2008

Comos is the place to be for an outside gathering event. Comos is not the place to be for friendly faces or fresh food. Our server took a long time getting our drinks to us while she chatted with some friends at the bar and allowed our drinks to just sit there. I was almost ready to get them myself ,until she saw me getting out of my chair and asked if everything was Ok. I love the Calamari when it's served HOT and in a timely manner. I still enjoy the Christmas decor and the yummy italian smell, but since there are other italian options in Ferndale I will probably be dining here less now. Pros: great out door patio Cons: slow service, expensive more

Frustrated by Como's 8/3/2008

I don't know how people end up at Como's I have sworn it off but get dragged back in for someone's party. Last night my party waited over an hour to get the bill. We were offered drinks once....knowing us the waitress could of served us at least 3 rounds of the hard stuff and a few pitchers but she never came back. Around 2 in the morning, we had to ask a bus boy to find her...she was stacking chairs instead of delievering beer.\r \r The food--\r believe that if you are going to say ""Italian Food"" there should be some home made Italian food. You won't find any homemade food in Como's. It seems like they went out of their way to find a bottle dressing that is flavorless and un-Italian tasting salad dressing. The bread is from a bag and the pizza that they are known for is often soggy or burnt.\r \r AND--be careful when you are there. At most places the wait staff will move to let you walk through the isles ...not at Como's. This doesn't matter if you drunk or sober. If they have a hot pizza in their hands, they will come within inches of your face, as long as they can get to where they are going. If they are mopping the floor and you want to go to the bathroom, you will just have to wait. \r \r What kills me is that I love Ferndale's many independent places but this one is the worst of Ferndale.\r \r \r Pros: location, outdoor dining Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE more

Comos Pizza !!!!!! There is not one better !!!!! 7/16/2008

WOW I can't get over the negative reviews! I am a pizza connessiour and was introduced to Comos in 1999. I have eaten in the restaurant, had pizza delieverd, and carried out. I may have a few complaints about the restaurant but NEVER, NEVER the pizza! It is what Comos is known for! I have never ordered another item from the menu and I never will. The pizza is freakin phenominal! I will admit it seems to have changed just a bit but not enough to drop it from my top in Michigan. And I have eaten at most pizza joints from Jefferson all the way up to 211 in the Mio area hours North of here. I live approx 30 minutes away from Comos and never think twice when I want pizza (even though there are pizza joints everywhere around me) I go to Comos. I take friends/family/business to Comos when they come into town. This restaurant was the first place I took my, now, finance when he flew into Michigan for the first time to meet me in 2007. Now we are engaged and it's where he asks to go everytime he comes to town it is also the reason why I would consider having my wedding rehersal dinner there (provided I can get into the banquet room upstairs for this event).\r Yes the service has changed. It is no where near as exceptional as it used to be. I can agree with that! I don't order anything but pizza so I cannot comment on any of the other food or portion sizes. What I can say is that to order an X-Large (which is freakin huge) with pepperoni and bacon and two sodas it never costs me over $25.00 and that is with refills on drinks and tip. Soooo if you think that $25.00 is too much to spend on a meal with tip included and you have pizza left to take home afterwards then my advice is that you shouldn't be eating out at all! Fast food delivery pizza can cost more than that and isnt any where near as good!\r One last thing...Whomever the BIGOT is writing the hate that my eyes had to skim over and read.....Good riddance to you! Comos won't miss you at all!!!!!! Pros: Pizza, Ambience at indoor bar, Outdoor patio in summer, Owners, Hours Cons: Service, Seating could be a long wait at peak hours, Parking, Management, Seating very crowded in restaurant if you're not in a booth more

Awesome atmosphere where everyone is welcome. 7/10/2008

More than a review on the restaurant, I would like to address some of the views on the previous dinners. It's a sad day when someone can base their restaurant experience by the orientation of the patrons, and servers. It takes a true biggot to put in words what I just read. While I agree food and drinks leave a lot to be desired, I could never base my opinion on the lifestyles of those surrounding me during dinner. The prices would have ohnestly been a better way to go in the area of negative reviews. I know this is not New York, LA, or even Chicago, but please leave your sad feeble minded opinions of people off of this wonderful site. Pros: No matter who you are you are always welcome at Como's. Cons: That does include biggots. more

Terrible Pizza and UNPROFFESIONAL Waitstaff...........GO TO LOUIE'S...... 6/28/2008

We walked into the ""non smoking area"" which was empty when we arrived and soon after we sat down, we were unpleasantly entertained by an old loud mouth waiter ""tongue lashing"" another waiter for being late, to the point of which the other waiter was crying!...crying?...there's no crying in being a waiter!.....\r Hmmm.....seems to me that if you want to discuss employee situations, please take it to the back room, outside or office,NOT in view of customers. Sorry Michael, dry your eyes, but you were late.\r We ordered an extra large pizza and large antipasto to make sure we had plenty to take home.\r The salad arrived and we both looked at each other and said, Are they cutting back?\r Our waiter,Jason, was put off by our comment and said that they had the same salad maker for 10 years.\r That may have been true, but for $10.00 , I expect a bit more, actually a lot more.\r He took our sald bowl and arrived with it properly proportioned. Nice try,Jason, but you should have arrived with a fresh new bowl. That's only professional and expected in the food business, especially with all the problems of contamination. The pizza arrived and was terrible looking and tasted like cardboard. Our guess is it must of been either old or severly stretched beyond it's limits to the point of being unedible.\r Our last visit, by the way ,was around Easter time which we were treated to a pleasant waitress and good pizza and ample salad. Obviously, you changed too much, possibly owners, and definetly the waitstaff. Your waiters need to keep their ""lifestyle""at home. No hugging guys,Last I checked, this is a ""family restaurant"", Ferndale or not.\r In your haste to become the ""in spot"" in Ferndale, you are losing one very important part of a successful business and that is your old customers, old and young. In essence, REPEAT BUSINESS.\r Sad to say,but WE WILL NOT BE BACK..\r \r CUISINE REVIEW Cons: Bad management decisions to hire new waiters..... bad dough or changed recipe,YUCK! more

Horrible. 6/25/2008

First of all, the manager of this place is a pompous loser. So if you have a complaint, there is no point in talking to the manager. We attended a party there, where all of the food tasted like fish. The area I was sitting at smelled like urine. The workers were rude. It was just all around BAD. \r \r Especially the manager. What an a**. Cons: Everything more

A great place to party if your young and single and love booze and smoke and don't care how the expensive food tastes. 8/25/2007

If you don't mind noise and smoke and plan to put a buzz on, definately go ! If you want a fairly priced, peaceful and organised meal that tastes good, along with good friendly service, it probably will disappoint you ! I ate there yesterday with four other adults and a child and could have better food and service at fricken BIG BOY FOR HALF THE PRICE !! Seriously.\r \r ......... ""oh man, their pizza is the best! how can you say that?"" yeah yeah yeah, Pizza is not difficult to make, you can get a pizza about every 1/2 mile in Ferndale. If I do go there again I hope that it is late and I have a good buzz on and won't care. Dan\r \r P.S. A cup of milk for a child is 2.50 and they charge 2.75 for a bread basket-DO GO TO MARIA'S OR PASQUALE'S, MORE PREDICTABLE AND TASTY. CHOW- Pros: Let's Party ! Cons: Highly overpriced average food, naive waitstaff. more

bad food and water 8/24/2007

Be careful when you eat at como's !!!!!!!!!!!! The alcohol is good but the food is old and reused. Ask how fresh the sauces are because they never throw anything out............The workers will get fired for watching out for your best interest................Don't eat the salad you will get sick..........Drink the water only from the bar area...........you can taste the difference .......even the owner with all her drama won't drink the water...........BEWARE Danger........ more

Great atmosphere.....So so pizza 7/13/2007

If you don't care about paying too much for crappy food then como's is your resturaunt. I should say ,however, that the pizza is at least average. The rest of the menu is NOT worth a damn. The spagetti suace is not as good as jarred generic from the local dollar store, not only that it is over priced and over rated..........................That being said I love this place!!!! The atmosphere is great, ecspecially in the summer. there is a huge back patio with bar. It feel like your hanging out at a friends back yard party. Go for drinks and pizza and don't waste your money on anything else. don't experiment or sample just stick to the za and maybe a salad. more

Great Pizza - rest of the menu overpriced and fair 4/3/2007

The only thing I would go for is the pizza. The food is just okay and overprice for what you get. I went once to the brunch and would never go again. It was really bad and again overpriced. Everything at the brunch is done very cheap and tried to look good. Great bar though, inside and outside. I would go back for the bar and the pizza. Pros: The pizza, the indoor and outdoor bar. Cons: The brunch and the rest of the menue more

its got it all 7/5/2006

Great atmosphere, especially in the summer outside. Great people watching and fab pizza. The steak is awesome too! Stays open late on the weekends for the after bar crowd, or just go there great bar scene. A stable in fashionable ferndale Pros: everything else Cons: loud more

Fabulous pizza! 6/7/2006

If you want the best pizza in Ferndale, there's nowhere to go but Como's. My only complaint is that all of their toppings are fresh and delicious, except for the mushrooms, which are canned and unappetizing. Other than that, great pizza. There's a nice patio out back during the summer, and it's almost always hopping. If you're in the mood for something other than pizza, though, I wouldn't recommend it. The entrees I've sampled here have been mediocre all the way around. Try the toasted ravioli as an appetizer--it's crispy and delicious, with a bit of spicy kick. Pros: Great pizza, nice patio, fun crowd Cons: Wait staff is spotty, entrees are lacking in quality more

Good Bar Service 1/19/2006

I have been going to Como's for about 2 months now and it is nice to go to a place where the Bar staff actually take the time to have a chat with you. Overall the Service is awsome and the food is not to bad either. I highly recommend the deep dish pizza. The bar staff are not to hard on the eyes either. more

In Need Of Some Serious Attention 10/29/2005

Como's has a lot of potential with outdoor seating, a large bar area and a great location. There seems to be less and less attention to food prepartion/quality and customer service. A place with such history has tried for years to run on just it's name alone which has been it's biggest challenge. One shouldn't forget that it takes a good product and excellent service provided consistently. Without meeting the basics it's no wonder that Como's has lost it's edge in a competive market. If more emphasis was placed on providing better service with quality food rather than making a quick buck by always raising prices, maybe just maybe Como's might be able to turn things around. A business that sets itself up for failure is doomed to fail, but one that sets itself up for success in everyway, is sure to shine above the rest. Pros: great location, fun atmosphere, great patio Cons: pricey, poor food quality, poor service more

Como's is not so good. 7/29/2005

Como's has consistently disappointed me. The pizza is not bad, but it is not special either. The service is always terrible. First you stand at the host stand for a few minutes before someone greets you and they tell you to sit wherever you like and then plan on waiting about another 10 minutes before you even receive menus. The food is also incredibly overpriced. Service is rude over the phone, too! Pros: open late more

Good for a hassle 3/11/2004

The food was great and very unique. It is one up on Olive Garden. Parking is always a hassle. The place seems to be always packed and the tables are set up kind of close which causes problems sometimes. Pros: Great food Cons: , Parking more

The best ever 1/19/2004

I absolutely love Como's, the atmosphere, the food and the service is fantastic. In the summer, the patio is the best experience for cocktails and food with friends. I can't say enough about this restaurant, I have to drive quite far to reach it but it is always worth my time. Pros: ambiance, great cocktails, fantastic patio Cons: busy, a little wait (summer more

Don't Get SUCKed in 11/29/2003

My brother in law loves this place. It was the pizza place of his youth. Well over the years things must have changed because COMO'S SUCKS. I have attempted on multiple occasions to have pizza delivered to my home and the order has either never shown up, or been cold or I was charged the wrong price. The sad part is the employee's DO NOT CARE. If you call to complain you cannot get connected to the Manager or the owner. The pizza is pretty good but very expensive and the SERVICE SUCKS. There are better locally owned establishments (Maria's, Amici's, Sila's). DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH COMO'S. Cons: Service Sucks, Price is too high, Food is only OK more

ELIEGATOR 8/25/2003
