I highly recommend this store. I have been going there for two years and have received consistently friendly and professional service, at reasonable rates. The store is conveniently located in downtown Boston. You can easily make an appointment, sometimes for the same date, and walk-ins are welcome as well. more

I love the people who work here. They not only helped me select fashionable frames and lenses at the most discounted price, but the doctors will really work with you until you are satisfied. I had a huge issue with contact lenses before I went to Cohen's. I just could never get over the fear/inability to touch my eye. My doctor was uber-patient and scheduled me for several practice visits. He said I could come in as often as I wanted to practice using contacts with his staff until I felt confident enough on my own--and it worked! He didn't even charge me for all the extra time I spent. Later on, when one of my coworkers accidentally stepped on and mangled my new frames, the Cohen's staff took at look at them and repaired them in less than 1 hour FOR FREE. They are really nice, generous people and I enjoy doing business with them. more

I am still waiting for my eyes to dilate, having come back from an exam just hours earlier, so all of you can rest assured that this review is 100% fresh and organic!! ... (meaning the likely typing errors are a product of blurry vision, and by NO means, pesticides) OKOK, anyway, I made an online appointment with Cohen, at their homepage (printed a coupon or two too), but was a bit worried because the conformation of appointment email that I received in reply to my chosen date and time arrived immediately after I filled out the online form. I mean, immediately! Don't doctors usually have other patients, who might or might not be booked for the same time as I requested? Don't they usually have to consult their schedule books before they tell me if they are available at that time? Doesn't it usually take more than 0.5 seconds? Well, I was a bit worried, and seeing as I had nothing else to do until my 1PM appointment, I just walked in at 12 :15 or so, hoping to verify if they had gotten my information or not. It turned out that their computer was down, and I hadn't been booked. Nevertheless, I was handed a form to fill, and was inside the doctor's office within no time. My doctor was very nice. She was thorough and patient, and even though some of the equipment seemed a bit old (what do I know about that anyway? I guess I shouldn't comment), the office itself was clean and accommodating. I was there to get contacts, but I needed a new pair of glasses too, and once I was finished inside, I spent some time looking at frames. They have a lot of choices! The woman who helped me pick my frames was great! She had some kind of an accent, and it was adorable. At first, she launched at me with a pair of slick Gucci rims, saying how great I'd look in them, but when I told her that I was looking for something plain and simple, seeing as I wear contacts most of the time and almost never go out with glasses, (which, naturally, translates into = ""I am a poor college student who spent all my christmas money at amazon, so I can't afford those"") she understood and took me to the cheaper rims section. What I found interesting was that she unexpectedly collapsed in a fit of giggles when I took one look in the mirror and pronounced myself ""funky"" while sporting a pair of neon-blue horn rimmed glasses. Beats me, I guess I just hit her funny bone or something!! Also, since my eyes are so dreadfully near sighted that I could almost be blind, my lens prescription is also something quite serious. In terms of cost, that is. The woman decided at some point to have mercy on me and she just knocked off the cost of the frames altogether!!! So I'm getting free frames for my big-deal lens prescription! Although I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be possible had I been getting designer glasses. Altogether, the people here seem really friendly and outgoing. Plus, the location couldn't be more convenient for me! 5 Stars!!!!! more

I enjoyed my experience buying both glasses and contacts at Cohen's. I got a coupon from their online website for a $29.00 eye examine, which I found to be cheap. I scheduled the appointment online. The whole scheduling process was easy and convenient. I took a trip down the Green line, arrived early by accident, stopped at Chacarero's for lunch, see my other review, and arrived at Cohen's for my appointment. I was five minutes early and they took me. The doctor was quiet but friendly. The salesman was very polite and professional. The eye test took 20 minutes at most and then I spent another 30 minutes with the salesman who helped me choose one brand name and one knock around pair of frames. I thought the price was fair. I went to Border's and walked around the area for an hour and then picked up my glasses. I'm told I have free ""tune up"" service for my glasses but i haven't had to go back yet so who knows? more

I had a great experience at this office. Had an eye exam last week and Dr. Grace was friendly and professional with me. After the eye exam I was helped by a young lady who was also very patient and friendly. They have a very large selection of frames, and I probably tried on about 20 different pairs! I spent over an hour looking at frames, and I finally found a pair of Gucci's that I love! Overall, I am happy with the service and I will definitely be coming back here. more

I had a great experience with this Optical store recently. If I had only made an opinion based on some random negative reviews, I might not have found my perfect glasses. I made an appointment online easily and followed up with a phone call the day of my appointment. The Optician I spoke with was most accommodating to answer any questions and concerns and I felt it was definitely worth it, as the convenience of location and appointment options...even on Saturday....which is becoming more rare. I picked up my new beautiful Bulgari frames and progressive lenses 4 days later. Not bad at all for my prescription and lenses. If you have single vision, they can arrange same day service in some cases. Walk ins are also welcome for exams and repairs and adjustments. The extended eveing hours worked well to pick up my glasses after work. Add the fact that they are in an easy to access by public transportation, and among great shopping options....and for me....it was all a great experience. Dr. Grace is most kind and professional, as were the 2 different Opticians I worked with. Never felt insulted or at all anything but served well and professionally. I have been a medical professional for 20 years and can be very discerning; but they please me in every way. Would definitely return and recommend for anyone who wants convenience, with great frame and lense options....and what was for me, also a friendly and respecrful service experience. Stop in on a Saturday while shopping in Downtown Crossing like I did....you will love the $29.00 eye exam with coupon specials...doesn't include kilation; but they also gave me $100.00 of my total bill for glasses. I find them more than worthy of 5 stars. more

purchased glasses in september -- were not to my satisfaction... promised to fix them. Went the next day. They were exactly as they were. I told them that it was unacceptable and left them there this was September 28th. I have not heard from them since. The Better Business Bureau has attempted to contact them on my behalf-- they have yet to respond. My next course of action is to go to the Atty. General's Office. Pros: no pros-- I wwould say 0 stars but needed to put something Cons: does not provide services required more

Please do not ever use Cohen's Fashion Optical especially the one at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree. They clearly don't know what it means to provide great customer service and are not forthcoming with their customers. It's pretty sad when the Dr., who is the owner of the store, is arguing with a dissatisfied customer. Very unprofessional. Also their policy of ""they are right, the customer is always wrong"" is a great attitude to have. With all of the great optical places to choose from in the city don't waste your time or money on this place. Pros: Nothing more

argh. I can't seem to get my prescription from them. Very enthusiastic in helping PURCHASE from them, but not at all interested in helping to send/fax me my prescription. Said ""they would get back to me at THEIR earliest convenience"". double argh. Would not recommend, and I concur with the quality of the lens, mine are far more scratched (after ~6 mo.) then any pair I've previously owned. Did get a response the second time around tho... more
