They SAVED my baby 8/6/2010

On 7/23/10, my 6 lb toy poodle Tarie was viciously attacked by my neighbors dog. She had to have emergency surgery @ another hospital but I had to transfer her the next day to Cobb Emergency. The doctor (Dr Lombardi) was upfront w/me about the severity of her injuries & that their costs were expensive but that they would do a thorough examination & she would get the best care. The next day, I was told that Tarie may not make it & that the next 72 hrs were very critical. Needless to say, Tarie made it thru the critical period (because she's a little firecracker anyway...lol) & her progress took a turn for the better. She stayed @ the hospital for a full week & received THE BEST CARE & attention from the doctors (Dr Engeran & Dr Robertson) & staff......they were GREAT!!!! Although the medical bills are high, it's the price we pay for our beloved pets that we consider a family member. I just really appreciated that the staff always communicated with me about any add'l costs. With that bei more

DON'T GO THERE! 6/5/2010

I have never been to a vet hospital that made you feel like you were stupid and did everything wrong. My dog had puppies, and one little one was failing, so we had to go to the emergency clinic. Later we found out, from our regular vet, that she probably defecated in the sack and aspirated so her lungs were full of fluid. Cobb EVC vets never asked the questions to get to the problem. They put a tube in her and sucked it out to show me. Then the vet insinuated that I fed the puppy something I shouldn't have. I was there for 15 mnutes and spent $150. Then I went to my own vet when they opened. The puppy didn't make it, but Sprayberry Animal Hospital tried so much harder than Cobb EVC. I should have know better since my first dog had to have an operation, and they charged me $1200! Later I found out that it was about $400-$500 more than other vets. This place just wants your money! more

The Worst 5/26/2010

Throughout my life I have received excellent service and not so excellent service but no business as ever come even as close to under delivering like CobbEVC. I take reviews online with a grain of salt but our experience truly was horrible. They did not kill my pet; however, they did nothing correctly and I feel they jeopardized her health. I will not go into details as I could write a novel and all it is going to do is re-hatch months of frustration, hurt, and heated discussions with family. From the actual surgery, customer service, diagnoses, lack of meds prescribed, admin incompetence, and billing (not upset on the amount just what we had to pay to fix what they did or should I say what they didn?t do) the process of working with Cobb EVC was a nightmare. \r \r I am happy for some of the people on here that had positive reviews maybe CobbEVC was actually doing their job that day, but from what I experienced I would never risk going here EVER again or for that fact recommend anyone more

First Class All the Way! 4/8/2010

What an incredible service Cobb Emergency Vet provides to our furry friends! Our dog Tori ingested a piece of raw chicken and we were worried about salmonella, e-coli, etc. So we gave them a call and asked for their advice on what we should do. The lady who answered the phone was so friendly and helpful and put me on hold to go ask one of the Doctors at the vet. The Doctor gave us great advice (a remedy we could do at home to make her regurgitate the chicken - didn't involve bringing her in). The lady who answered the phone even called us back an hour later to make sure Tori was ok. All of this was FREE of charge - I offered to pay via credit card over the phone and she politely declined stating "That's what we are here for". I was so pleased at the amount of service and caring we received and didn't have to give them a cent! I would without a doubt take my animals there in the event of an emergency - they truly care about animals and anyone who says they are "too expensive" ha more

So glad Cherokee EVC was there 3/21/2010

Recently I took my 17 year old cat Coquie to the Cherokee Emergency vet clinic. He's been in renal failure for quite awhile and had a bad reaction to a med my regular vet had given to help his appetite and calm his nighttime vocalizing. This one visit with Dr. Quinlan and staff seemed to do more for him than several months of care at a regular clinic! The staff could give regular clinics lessons on how to treat clients, and this at an emergency clinic where the stress level is no doubt much higher with the kind of cases they see than at a typical vet clinic. Yes it's more expensive. I'd pay it for quality of care here. more

Not Satisfied with Vet Knowledge 3/12/2010

My dog was having what I now know as a cluster seizure. However, an emergency evening visit to this vet and $700 later- yes, $700 for 'analysis tests,' they were never able to diagnose her. In fact, they were 'dumbfounded' at the mystery that I later figured out myself. I wish there was a 24 hour vet that did not profit off of responsible pet owners' desperation. more

Cobb Emergency Vet sits at the Feet of God in my Book 1/7/2010

I have a small canine rescue and 8 dogs of my own - at one time I had 8 cats but they have all passed from old age, living to 16, 17 and 18 years old. The people on here that say they are in it for the money are simply pigs who THEMSELVES are more worried about money than the lives of their pets. I have taken RESCUES - shelter dogs that are looking for a home - and dropped $800 to $1500 - not without a heartstopping moment, that is a LOT of money to a rescue - but Drs. Harris and Hill both said - this money could be used to save other dogs - it's a big expense but it is your choice. The last one they recommended GVS for a neurology work up but we waited it out, let them monitor the pet Peaches - and Dr. Hill's recommendation was right on the money WITHOUT the $3000 that's right - THREE THOUSAND dollar workup at GVS. They have saved the lives of - at least four of my animals - pets and rescues. I CANNOT PUT A PRICE ON THEIR LIFE - PERIOD. A commitment is a commitment and I made it more

Cobb Emergency Vet is a wonderful service! 1/6/2010

Let me first say that as a person that deals with a lot of emergencies daily, I am appalled at the ridiculous comments some people make about emergency vets. These poor people are worked to death and woefully under-paid to deal with people that yell at them b/c they can't pay their bills when their pet gets sick. I have never had an unfavorable experience with Cobb ER and they are wonderful. It is a policy in every vet clinic I have ever been that everyone gets an estimate and pays upfront for services b/f rendered. For every person that pays and are good for their expenses, there are 4 freeloaders that feel they are entitled to free services. These vets go to school and spend $100000 + on their educations. DO NOT go to the clinic if you have no money! Having pets is a luxury, not an entitlement. You shouldn't have one if you can't afford them when they get sick! These reviews make me sick and if you read them carefully, you will see who the real idiots are... more

It's all about the $$ 12/2/2009

Dr. Maddux - vet with an attitude! Took my dog in on a Sunday night as I thought he might have a UTI. They put in a catheter to obtain a urine specimen but lab showed no infection. Dr. Maddux suggested it might be a kidney stone and wanted to do xrays and ultrasound. When I told her we would take our dog to his regular vet the following morning Dr. Maddux developed a real attitude. She made certain to tell us that she was busy so we should be prepared to wait since it was going to take her a while to complete her discharge instructions. She also suggested (again with attitude) that we better take our dog to the vet the following day or his life could be in danger. Did she really think someone who took their dog to an emergency clinic wouldn't have follow up care? No, she was mad because they weren't going to get any more $$ from us. 3 hours and $162 later, we left. Took my dog to my regular vet the following day and he had no kidney stones - just a UTI as I suspected. Don't be foole more

$$$$, no understanding of informed consent 11/30/2009

I would stay away from this place like the plague. If I could put a negative star, I would. A call to a vet technician tonight confirmed my suspicion: we were taken for a ride when we took our ill cat to CEVC. All of the reviews below saying this clinic preys on those in a bad situation and fails to give adequate informed consent about the most humane AND economical solutions... those are dead on. My elderly mother brought her cat in yesterday. Told that her temp indicated the cat was in really bad shape - but that they couldn't make ANY determinations without an additional $500 comprehensive diagnostic test.... Let me tell you: Do not do it. This bill will go up in no time. And we still did not achieve any determinations. When we were pressured to leave the cat for intravenous fluids until Monday when our normal vet would be available, we felt a little relieved that the clinic would investigate the possibility of a non-life-ending solution. We learned today that only " more

Cobb Emergency Vet is not as good as I hoped 9/24/2009

I called the to the Cobb Emergency Vet a few weeks ago because my chihuahua was repeatedly throwing up. I thought he was probably having a reaction to his rabies shot he got the day before. They scared me to death telling me to bring him in immediately b/c he was going to die before morning (when I could take him to the reg vet). I took him in, and they immediately took him from me saying he had to me examined immediately. Thirty minutes later a vet came in to tell me that she had not had time to look at my dog yet, but i should be prepared for $500 of blood work and x-rays. She had not even examined him! I wound up leaving 2.5 hours later with my dog only having been given some shots to calm his stomach, and when i called the next day to ask additional questions, (which they encouraged me to do) the only answer was, "Sorry, we can't really answer anything for you unless you want to bring him in again." No thank you. I am very frustrated as this clinic is the only option if your more

best 24 hour vet 9/16/2009

took one of my cats there twice - once after spraining his paw after getting caught in a grocery bag and running around like a psycho and the 2nd time after he decided to climb a screen on my 3rd floor porch ~ you can guess what happened. 2nd time he was in bad shape and after 24 hours in their care, he was pretty much 100%. you have to go in there knowing it is going to cost alot. it's not much cheaper at your own vet. common sense should tell you this and you need to decide what you want to do before you go there. I got a refund the 2nd time he was there and he was there for 4 hours longer than the estimate. I've dealt with 4 doctors and several of their other employees and they are all very caring people. getting the money is upfront is smart business, especially in this kind of business - and don't forget their whole purpose in existing as a business is to make money. more

#1 Emergency Vet 7/22/2009

These guys were great!!! I had a chinchilla who got sick and it was after hours so they were the closest place to Henry county that could see her! When I got there they took her back right away!! Unfortunately we had to put her down! But these guy were so caring had helpful in such a difficult time!! Worth the drive for the ones you love!!! more

A Great Place!!! 5/8/2009

I am happy to take all of my pets to the Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic due to the fact that they are one of few clinics in Cobb County who treat strays and wildlife free of charge. They rely on donations for these services. About a year ago I took an injured Hawk into the clinic where he was treated and released by the doctors and technicians. I am pleased to know that kindness like this still exists in the world. While costs may be a bit pricey, they are nothing unreasonable and are to be expected of an emergency hospital. They have always provided us with superlative care!!! more

A Wonderful Place To Take Your Beloved Pet! 5/8/2009

I have a 3 year old black Lab who has been treated by Cobb Emergency on several different occasions. During each visit I felt as though myself and my pet were treated with respect and kindness. The doctors have always explained all aspects of my pets health care thoroughly as well as taken the time to answer all of my questions. The techs have a large role as part of the medical/nursing team. They are sensitive to my pet's needs and treat him as if he was one of their own. Unfortunately I have read some of the negative comments on this site and I feel that there must have been some misunderstanding in the majority of these cases. I can tell that some reviewers felt that they knew more than the veterinarians. The sad thing is that when this happens, the pet, who is the sole reason for your visit to the ER, gets less than ideal care and suffers. As I am an RN in the metro Atlanta area, my only wish is that human ER's were ran with such efficiency and compassion. more

I have no confidence in the vets there 4/30/2009

We recently took one of our birds to Cobb Emergency Vet because they are one of the few vets that claim to have bird emergency vets on staff. I have no confidence that the vet that saw him had any specialization in birds at all. He couldn't even identify what type of bird he was (a parrotlet). He wanted to do bloodwork, which is never recommended for parrotlets because they are so small and can easily go into shock. When we refused, he basically said there was nothing hecould do, and that Albert was "circling the drain." He sent us home with antibiotics - Albert died 2 days later.\r \r In the middle of our exam, he was also complaining about another client that refused to euthanize her puppy with suspected parvo. HIGHLY unprofessional to be discussing another client's case with us, and really not at all what we wanted to talk about when we were there with our pet.\r \r I have a lot of respect for most emergency clinics, because they deal with such hard cases. I have NO respect for Cobb Eme more

excellent clinic!! would recommend to anyone!! 4/7/2009

I am so glad they have clinics like this around! My dog had been vomiting with diarrhea for about 2 days. I didn't think of anything he could have gotten into he wouldn't eat or anything so the tech came got all my information and took my dog back to the treatment area i was put in a room and within 10 min there was a tech in there checking on me and giving me an update on him the doctor came in maybe 5 minutes later and wanted approval for xrays first off they took xrays and turns out he did eat something. they did blood-work and everything and said they recommend going to surgery i agreed, paid the bill and they were getting ready to go to surgery they let me go back to visit him and he was already hooked up to fluids and had a really nice comfy bed for him. the staff was very professional and courteous to me when i asked questions my dog really seemed at home there (as much as he could be) they went to surgery an hour later and 2 hours later they called saying they were done 2 days more

Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic Terrible 3/15/2009

Doyle Johnson and this clinic just want your money. I gave them $1081 up front to work on my dog. They euthanized her and would not give me her remains. After asking a dozen times they told me I had a bill to pay. It was the euthanization charge. This clinic and Ms Johnson should have their license revoked. more

Very clean hospital and great service. 9/21/2008

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the hospital when I visited my dog during the day hours of the clinic. I have been to other veterinary hospitals as well as to other emergency clinics and this was by far the cleanest hospital I have been to.Unlike the other hosptials I've been to this one did not have the typical smell that I can only describe as a "doggie" smell. The floors and cages were immaculate! The staff was very professional and helpful when I asked questions about my dog's treatment. I could not have had a better experience. more
