I almost didn't go to Christopher Duquet because I assumed it would be way too much for my modest budget...but meeting an employee, Terran, randomly outside the store, she convinced me to come in to see about getting a wedding band designed for an antique engagement ring. Terran clarified my ideas, fit the project into my budget, and all in a very short timeline. All the staff, Christopher included, were so accommodating and skilled. And the band is gorgeous, true to the design of the engagement ring...and I had fun working with them. Without reservation, I will return for anything I need in the future. When I was younger, I used to go to Christopher’s store and play with my sister while my mom and dad shopped. It is hard to believe that when my husband and I needed to look for rings, Christopher’s is the first and only place we went. I recently bought an engagement ring from Christopher Duquet and my fiancé absolutely loves it. I went in with a decent idea of what I wanted and Villi worked with me to design the ring I wanted. I contacted Christopher in early March while in search of a jeweler that creates custom engagement rings. I set an appointment over the phone and was intending on it being a rather short interaction, basically just look at some of his work, discuss prices, and head home. From the moment I walked in, I knew this experience would be different. Christopher and his staff were very warm and receptive to me, and our first conversation felt like catching up with an old friend. We discussed what I was looking for, the relationship itself, and eventually we sketched out some ideas right then and there. The Ring: So, the basic idea was I had my grandmother's original wedding ring from the 40's, and I wanted to utilize some of the stones to create a new and unique piece. My fiance' is not really into diamonds, so we created a piece that had the diamond from my grandmother's ring as the center stone, and then two magnificent sapphires set on each side. Also, on the outside of the 3 main stones, we would cross set 6 smaller diamonds (2 on each stone). Christopher told me he'd draw up a computerized image, and he'd email it to me in a day or two. The next day, I had it in my inbox, and I immediately approved the production. Then, about a week later, the ring was done. To put it bluntly, the ring is unbelievable. I've never been so satisfied when purchasing anything in my life. As a business owner in Chicago, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Christopher and his work. The best part? Christopher created the ring within a very tight time window, and, it was under budget. Perfect. more

I cannot say enough good things about Christopher Duquet and his team. Initially, I went to Christopher to talk about hiding an ugly engagement ring behind some of his beautiful wedding bands. But Christopher wanted me to be completely happy with the entire set and convinced me to start fresh with a new engagement ring. From the onset, Christopher stressed that he wanted me to be happy with the ring. He reassured me every step of the way that I would get exactly what I wanted for my ring. He had a CAD drawing made within a few weeks so I could get more of a feel of what the ring looks like. \r \r When I went in for my first fitting, I worked with Villi, who was so sweet and understanding. I wasn’t happy with the diamond I had picked out the week before. She could tell I was hesitant and said it needs to be prefect and that they would look for another diamond I was happy with. Now I know this was a pain for them, but they truly wanted to make me happy! I know jewelers are salesmen, but I never got this from Christopher. I gave him my budget and he worked his magic to stay within it. \r \r So after another diamond search, my ring was going to be ready in 2 weeks. My boyfriend called and asked if they could have it ready a week early as a surprise to me. I had waited 2 months for a new ring and I was so anxious. And of course they delivered! The ring is so amazing. It’s been about a month since I’ve gotten my ring and still can’t stop staring at it. Every little detail of the ring is perfect. I seriously can’t find a mistake in the ring. It has engraving on all sides of the band and even on the tiny horizontal bars in between the prongs. They didn’t leave any details out. I am a graduate student that lives on a very modest budget. When I came in looking for an engagement ring for my now fiancee I thought that I was way out of my league. When I told the staff about my budget they said ""No Problem"" and proceeded to help me find what I (and my fiancee) think is the most beautiful ring. I purchased a presentation ring to give my fiancee and then we both went back to custom design a ring for her. The staff was incredibly helpful in finding a diamond and sapphire side stones. They helped us design a custom setting to our specifications. What really struck me was how much they cared about what the ring looked like. They were not going to let us design a ring that was ugly and garish, but they also listened and did what we wanted at the same time. After visiting Christopher Duquets in Evanston, I was blown away by the quality of his jewelry. I was referred to Christopher by a friend of mine, when I was recruited to help someone pick out an engagement ring. I called the day before to let him know our budget, what kind of ring we were looking for (style, diamond cut etc.), and that we were in a bit of a time crunch because my friend wanted to propose at the end of the week. When we dropped by the next day he was extremely friendly, and knew exactly what we were talking about and showed a range of rings to choose from which were all stunning. After we had picked out the setting, he had set aside diamonds for us to choose from. He was extremely helpful, and knowledgeable, at helping us choose the ring and diamond. He set the stone while went to lunch, and it was ready when we came back. He really helped my friends make the a perfect proposal with an absolutely fabulous ring. My friend and his new fiance, came back the following week to get the ring sized, and experienced the same great experience. We have been bragging about it to everyone we know. He has really gorgeous designs, and I think his contribution to the jewelry industry in Chicago is a unique one. About the only thing I love more than the engagement ring we designed with Christopher Duquet would be my fiance. I'm not kidding. We heard about Christopher through a family friend late last year and made our initial visit soon after. I couldn't be happier. I wasn't exactly the ""easiest"" customer, either. I wanted my ring to be extra special, incorporating diamonds handed down from my grandmother and a design unique to me. But I didn't have a clear vision for what my ring my look like. I just got my diamond reset at Christopher Duquet. My ring was hand made, not factory made. Christopher took care of me through the entire process. He takes great pride in what he does and what he knows about jewelry making. He said the ring would be done in 3 weeks and it was. He even has you come in during the process to the see the preliminary product. He double checked the size and then finished the ring a week later. I had a great experience with Christopher Duquet. He and Villi made the whole process of getting an engagement ring fun and pleasurable. My fiancee and I had been into the store before we got engaged just to look at ring ideas. After I decided I was going to propose I went back (alone) and talked with Villi about the process. I loved the idea of having a custom ring, but also wanted to keep the surprise aspect of proposing. Villi explained that I would select the diamond and they would place it in a presentation ring, which I could use to propose and my fiance could either keep that one or choose to come in and make a new one (getting full credit for if). The presentation ring itself was gorgeous, and we almost kept it! Villi also did a tremendous amount of work to find some Canadian diamonds as that was important to me and my fiancee. After I picked the diamond and got the presentation ring, I proposed (she said yes!) and we went back to design our custom ring. The whole process was great and we really got to understand what went into designing and creating a ring. Villi and Christopher were very helpful and flexible, and we were able to see several designs and suggest changes before finally creating on the perfect ring. I was trying to have an engagement ring made for about 6 months with another jeweler when he suddenly went out of business and left me with nothing. So I needed a custom ring in about a month with a tight budget. After contacting lots of jewelers in the city, including most of Jewelers Row, Christopher Duquet was the only one who responded to me personally. I wasn't fed some pitch by a salesman, I was contacted by the man himself. And when I went in it was Christopher Duquet who met with me. We discussed what I wanted, went over designs, he reviewed some pictures I had, and then he drew a sketch of exactly what I was looking for. He knew my budget and he took the time to lay out every step of the process and what it would cost so that we could find a way to trim things down and also so I could see realistically how much certain items would cost. He chose the perfect accent stones (of a far higher quality than I thought I could afford) and he got to work. I was emailed several fantastic digital drawings of the ring, which made it really easy for us to discuss any changes I wanted to the design without me having to CTA it all the way from downtown. I was updated regularly with the ring's progress and in just a few weeks I was able to go in and pick it up. The ring was stunning, leaving my fiance speechless when I proposed. I wanted a unique and intricate design on the sides and he delivered perfectly. Every detail was flawless. Not only did I receive a ring that was better than I had envisioned, but even when I picked it up Christopher Duquet (who was with another client) took the time to come over and quickly talk to me to see if I was happy with everything. I received an appraisal and all the guarantees and future services that you would want for this type of purchase to keep it looking its best. I've been in Christopher's store - sometimes just for looking - and have always found designs that were unique and materials and stones that were out of the ordinary.
