Best

I went in last weekend for a gel manicure with a woman named Kim. She said she was brand new to CHristie and boy was she fantastic. My nails are unchipped and perfect and that ...

Worst

I decided to return to Christies after I was pleased with my first haircut. While leaving after my first visit, I saw a woman yelling at the receptionists causing an uncomfortable...

over-rated 6/25/2010

I've been going to Christie's since I was sixteen to have my eyebrows threaded, but I had to stop my visits after they amped the prices way beyond my budget. I recently returned to have my hair styled for a formal occasion: thankfully the stylist followed the picture I brought with me, but I couldn't help but notice how condescending the front desk was to my mother and how drab the staff seemed to be. It was an uncomfortable experience with a huge price tag! Sadly, it didn't seem worth it. Pros: parking Cons: sullen staff, univiting enviornment more

It's Actually a Great Salon 1/12/2010

I've been going to Christie's for years. Admitedly, they did have a problem with front desk rudeness but they obviously addressed it since the last year or so, the front desk is nice. They have some very talented people working there and they aren't outrageously over priced as some have said. If you want cheap, go to SuperCuts. The only drawback is that they overbook appointments which explains why the wait can be up to an hour (sometimes I was mad enough to walk out and never return, that's how bad it was). Pros: Great Haircutters/Colorists Cons: The Wait more

Horrible 1/8/2010

I would not recommend to anybody..Had an appt. for noon, finally after waiting 1hour somebody saw me. I went to get highlights and she only did half my head for 95 bucks..INSANE then to blow dry my hair another 40, I dont know what I was thinking and it didnt even come out good very dry!!! I think if the staff was a little nicer I could have justified paying sooo much money, but they are rude and obnoxius!!!!!!!! Pros: ????? Cons: Expensive&Rude more

Awful 12/8/2009

Mediocre to average services that are not worth the price. Pros: None Cons: Poor customer service, overrated, and way overpriced more

Best Haircut & Blowouts!!! 9/30/2009

Ask for Joyce. She gives the best haircut and amazing blowouts. Her blowouts last for a week! I used to get my hair done at a much pricer Manhattan salon and never had a better haircut/blowout than with Joyce @ Christies! more

worst place ever 4/20/2009

I wish I had read all these reviews before i went and had my hair completely destroyed I recently moved to Bayside and needed a new place to have my cut and color done I had passed by this salon many times and it looks like a really nice place from the outside but boy are looks are deceiving. i booked an appt, for highlights and a trim when i arrived i think i was the only customer there everyone looked upset an miserable it felt very uninviting i went to the front desk told the girl my name she didn't even look at me she just said go find a robe and well be with u soon and just walked away so i went searching for a robe which I had no idea where they even were. When I finally met the colorist she seemed nice I told her what I wanted and I thought everything went ok until I sat down to get my hair cut and saw my hair in the mirror which was orange at my roots I told the colorist I didn't usually get color only foils but she insisted that the color would last longer like this . The girl who was cutting my hair said it was appearing this way because my hair was wet and once it was dry it would look fine I told the girl to clean up my ends and she took over three inches off and then blew it out frizzy when I looked at my hair dry I actually felt like I was going to cry I couldn't believe the way my hair looked my roots were bright orange and the rest of my hair was all broken and bleached looking the girl kept saying how great my hair looked I was going to complain but I figured they would give me to someone to try to fix my hair and at this point I didn't want anyone in this place touching me. When I went to pay my bill which was almost $300 dollars might I add the girl at the desk just gave my hair such a look she knew my hair was ruined she didn't even ask me how my first visit was she just ran my card and handed me a receipt to sign. I am not a picky person at all and I am not one who would ever right a complaint but people need to stare clear of this place. I ended up having to have my hair corrected which cost me another another $300 and now my hair is like straw. This place needs a lesson on how to treat there customers and they need to train there staff. I tell everyone I meet to stay far away from this place. So please beware of this place this has to be one of the wort salons in NY. Pros: parkng Cons: none more

Manhatten prices in queens????? 3/29/2009

I couldnt agree more about the poor management there. The left arm doesnt know what the right is doing. And the prices are ridiculous. I havent been there in a few weeks but if Lisa the pregnant girl is now working behind the desk instead of cutting hair, well that just shows the poor and incompetant skills lacking in upper management. I guess thats why every month a different group of hair stylists pick up and leave. Shape up and get rid of the cancer that plagues that place or lower prices!!!! Pros: Good stylists Cons: Horrible management, poor leadership, high prices etc. more

Bad business 3/29/2009

Was at the salon today and noticed that a girl named Lisa who used to cut my hair is now behind the front desk to join the crew of misfits in customer service. Unbelivable hair stylist. Poor management plastered all over this place. Its a no wonder why this salon only gets 3 *** stars Pros: Good Hairstylists Cons: poor management more

Beware! 2/19/2009

I had the worst experiance at christies I went into the salon and asked for a body wave. I was promised a beach wave air dry style what I got was a mess! After admitting that my hair was left dry and damaged they said that they could do nothing for 2 weeks because of all of the chemicals in my hair. The day before my appointment at 9 o'clock at night they called to say that they decided there was nothing else they could do for me and I shouldn't bother coming in for my appointment because there would be nobody there to help me. When I asked when they were going to reschedule they told me that they were not going to reschedule and that they were "done with me" I spent $225 and about $100 to get it fixed! I can't believe that a salon that claims to be the "best in Queens" won't take responsibility when they mess up. Pros: parking Cons: Horrible service Over Priced more

WORST PLEASE EVER PLEASE READ MY STORY DISTROYED MY HAIR 2/17/2009

Worst Salon. They are extremely rude. Horrible service. The head manager is the worse person to ever deal with. I went in about 4 months ago and they destroyed my hair to the point where one side was 2 inch's shorter then the other. when the manager saw what was done she told me that there isn't anything that they can do about this then tied to sell me products . I would never go back here and I tell everyone I meet never go in there. never go in to this place. Most people in bayside already know how bad they are and this place has lost most of their main customers Pros: none Cons: Everything about the place more

Worse Haircut!! 2/7/2009

I went to Christie's bc I had just moved into the area, so I wanted to go somewhere convenient. From the outside it looks like a really nice salon. I made an appt and I had requested the master stylist since I wanted the "best". When I arrived, the receptionist (lady w/ very very short blonde do) didn't even look at me once. She just asked my name and when's my appt. She asked who's cutting my hair and I said I requested the master stylist when I made the appt (I didn't know the stylist name.). I thought she was very standoffish and unfriendly, but it may be bc she was having an off day? I don't know, but she didn't even know what I look like bc she never even lifted her head up at the receptionist desk. Anyway, they sent me to the sylist to cut my hair. She was very nice but she was NOT the master stylist. The receptionist did not listen to me and just sent me to a random stylist.. She ended up cutting my hair 6 inches off which I requested BUT it was all uneven. The hair on my right side was 2 inches longer! My 4 yr old daughter even noticed. She asked mommy, why is your hair long over here? The very least a stylist can do is to cut it evenly. Needless to say, I'm never going back and will never recommend to anyone ever! Pros: salon looks nice Cons: unfriendly/snotty receptionist, unskilled stylist more

Not a bad haircut usually, but.... 12/15/2008

I've gone to Christie's several times over the past few years, and most of the time I get a decent haircut, sometimes it's spectacular (although, not lately) and sometimes disasterous. However, the main consistency I see at Christie's is the rudeness of the women at the front desk. It is unbelievable how high and mighty these women act. The manager at this establishment needs to speak to his/her staff and teach them how to properly treat a customer. more

Excellent Salon! 11/3/2008

I had the pleasure of going to Chrisite & Co. for my daughter's wedding in October. Brandi had used Christie's previously and raved about it. She had her hair and make-up done there as did her bridal party. I had my make up done there and I must say I was highly impressed. I would suggest to go for the airbrushing. It is such a flawless finish....Brandi's hair was gorgeous,as was her make up. All the girls hair and make up came out wonderful and everyone used different stylists and make up artists. Everyone who worked on us was top notch. I purchased the lipstick, gloss and pencil they used on me, and I found the prices very reasonable. The owner is a lovely person. I met her when News channel 1 was there and interviewed her and they also interviewed my daughter. It was breast cancer awareness month and Christies was donating funds to this wonderful cause. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I was even able to purchase a pretty pin for my hair there. They have a kiosk that sells all sorts of accessories. I highly recommend this salon. You will not be disappointed. Pros: In a strip mall, plenty of parking. Clean salon, friendly staff. more

customer service is getting better at christies 10/15/2008

i have been going to the salon for a few years and its nice to see new faces at the desk that actually know what they're doing!!! kudos to the managemnt staff for hiring such great girls!! maybe the old can learn from the new!! Pros: walking in and feel like they are doing you a favor Cons: walking out and feeling like a million bucks more

the worst 7/4/2008

why is christie and co allowed to touch any ones hair. they are the worst. my hair was fried by amanda and chopped up by some other girl. this is so not right. more

The greatest cut & color 6/4/2008

I live in Manhattan and I travel to Christie & CO every 6 weeks to color & cut my hair. Lois does my color and she really is a superstar, and she is so down to earth. She really was on point with my color and gave me great advice on how to protect and nourish my hair. She was extremely busy but still took the time to personally see if I liked what she had done. I will continue to use her as long as she is in business. My hair was cut by Joyce and she is fabulous. My cut is so easy to do at home, and she showed me how to blowdry my hair. She is my new favorite. If you have not been to Christie's you must try it!!!! more

The worst experince ive ever had 5/13/2008

This salon is probably the worst ive ever been to. i may as well have gone to any back street salon and saved myself alot of money. the staff are rude and ignorant, they make you feel as though your a second rate person. they are to bust eating and chatting to answer you when you ask them something. the quality of the work you recive after the long perods of waiting in between services is far below standard. after having my color washed out i was made to wait in the middle of the shop with soaking wet hair for nearly 30 minutes to have my hair cut. i wish i had left then as when the stylist had finished my trim my hair was 6 inches shorter and looked as thouhj she had done it with garden shears. never again. Pros: i cant think of one Cons: staff are rude, ignorant and incompetant more

Holes in my face and burnt skin on my body 4/27/2008

I had been a loyal customer of Christie Salon for 7 years. Their customer service has truly been getting worse and worse. The final straw was when I ended up with BURNT SKIN all over my body and 2 HOLES IN MY FACE. A few days before I was to leave on a trip to Mexico for my birthday, I had gone to Christie?s for face threading, underarm, Brazilian & full leg wax and a pedicure. First, they had mixed up my appointment and didn?t have me down for half my services (this is NOT uncommon for them). Second, they broke up my Brazilian waxing into two sessions so they could get someone else?s pedicure in between. Third, even though I repeatedly protested about the wax being too hot, Allah continued to burn my skin. Fourth, since they had mixed up my appointment, there was no time for my full leg wax. Fifth, I had to wait longer and Allah ended up convincing me to get my face waxed. She was in such a rush, that it didn?t matter once again that the wax was too hot. She ended up taking 2 chunks of skin out of my chin. One chunk was the size of a toothbrush head. Not only did they pretend that it was nothing but they kept trying to cover up my missing skin with concealer. They told me to find some witch-hazel. They said minor things like this happen all the time. Actually, it should not happen at all and it is not minor. Lastly, they even had the nerve to want to charge me for the services even though they totally botched my appointment and was making me leave with no leg wax, burnt armpits, burnt Brazilian and 2 holes on my face right before my big birthday trip. It was only after some more arguing and my telling them I was going to review them online did they agreed to just let me pay for the pedicure. They LIED to me saying they were going to send me a gift card for all my trouble. It?s been almost a month and NOTHING. Even more, if I had paid for my waxing services, I would have been overcharged. Check your bill if you go you might end up paying more than listed. Pros: Rosetta for threading/waxing, Nubia for pedicures Cons: overpriced, rude, other people's skin on instruments for pedi/mani, don't care if you get burned or lose skin, customer loyalty means nothing, they lie, overbook appointments, misbook appointments more

Do not go to this salon 4/21/2008

This salon is supposed to be the best salon in queens, but do not believe the hype. The staff are rude, the colorists and stylists are generic and untalented and pretentious, and do not listen to you. I once had my hair colored by Fatima, and she was rude, and did not listen to me, and just did what she wanted. She would not stop talking about herself and her many so-called acheivements, she handled me very roughly at the shampoo bowl and got me soaking wet. The color came out horrible and was too dark, and she didn't even apologize or correct her mistake. I had to come and have the color done over by someone a little more competent than her. The people behind the front desk, exept for Jennie, are rude and nasty, and act like they are doing you a favor by even taking your money for their overpriced services. Jeri is the rudest and most obnoxious and miserable person I have ever seen. If you haven't ever met the owner, just imagine "The Devil Wears Prada" only without the humor, and ten times more plastic surgery. She should be a guest star on the show "Nip Tuck". I never even knew they stilled used the term shampoo girl in a salon, until I was at this one. Anyone thinking of giving this dungeon disguised as a luxury spa, their business, pleease, don't do it to yourselves. Pros: parking Cons: everything else more

The WORST customer service desk EVER!!!!!!! 4/3/2008

I have been going to this salon for years and the customer service counter has yet to change. My colorist is amazing but everytime I call for an appointment, I am put on hold for over ten minutes every time and when they finally pick up the phone, it's like I am a bother to them. Excluding Jeri, everyone else behind that counter, especially Lisa, is so nasty and unprofessional, it is the absolute worst service EVER! Recently, I called for an appointment, was on hold for nine minutes and when Lisa picked up the phone, she asked what I wanted. As I was trying to tell her, she kept talking the the person nearest to her, paying no attention to what I said. So after repeating what I wanted three times, she just gave me a time and then hung up on me. I wasn't even asked if the time was good or not, she just hung up on me with no goodbye. If the owner had some compassion for her customers, she should better control her customer service counter or get new people to work for her that are a lot more pleasant. Pros: Hair colorist Amanda and Savana Cons: Reception desk more
