NEVER WILL I GO BACK!!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS DERMATOLOGIST!!!! \r \r She makes you think you need $100's of dollars worth of products (all her own label products). They overcharge for everything! I've had cortisone shots on the past for keloids. My visit with her they charged me $40 for the shot. I've never once had to pay for a cortisone shot, my insurance covers it 100%. But they gave me the shot without telling me before hand that they do not bill insurance for cortisone shots. When you walk out of the room she convinces you need all these products. You get to the receptionist counter and they start pulling out all the products you need. My product total came to $175. My 9 year old son, who was seen for a mild case of dry skin, had a total product bill of $150!!!!! That is RIDICLOUS!!!\r \r Then to top it off, they will ONLY validate your parking if you purchase her products. And, if you walk up just to buy product they will NOT validate your parking, even though I was spending over $100 in products. I was informed that in order to get validation you have to 1.) have an appointment with the Dr. and 2.) purchase her products. That was my final straw with this cheap, penny pinching, scam you for every $ you have Dr and office. I will never go back again!!!! more

Just trying to sell her medicines and lotions and doesn't try to solve the patient's skin problems more

WAY too long of a wait to see the doctor!!! 3/7/2012

I don't have 1 hour to sit in a doctors office and wait just to see the doctor! I don't care what it is! I would definately not recommend Dr. Effron to anyone who thinks they are going to make an appt at her office in HB and be seen quickly. Either you sit in the waiting room forever or you are put in an exam room and wait forever - not sure which is worse. I personally feel that Dr. Effron is more of a Cosmetic Dermatologist and she would rather promote her skin care products than help patients! more

2 Hour round trip and no appointment! 8/15/2011

I made an appointment with Dr. Effron's Anaheim Hills office, which is an hour drive from where I live, on July 1, 2011. The appointment was for August 15th at 2:10pm. I did not receive any calls to confirm my appointment and I drove the hour on Aug 15th thinking I had an appointment. When I arrived at 1:51pm, Mariette told me they didn't have me on the schedule. That my appointment was cancelled. I told her I didn't cancel and I never received any appointment confirmation calls either. She couldn't tell me how my appointment was cancelled. She said she would ""try and fit me in"" as if she was doing me a favor when it wasn't my fault, it was thier office screw up. She said it may take about 45 minutes. I waited for almost an hour and left. I now feel that I would not get quality care from Dr. Effron's staff after this and would not go back or recommend anyone else to suffer the office staff incompetence. more

Amazing Dermatologist 5/29/2010

Absolutely amazing dermatologist. My daughter has pretty severe psoriasis and we were very picky about who we saw. From the moment we met Dr. Effron, we knew she was the perfect doctor for our daughter. Dr. Effron has a wonderful bedside manner, a kind heart, and an IQ and EQ that transcends any other doctor I have seen. Pros: Kind, gentle, great with kids more

Such a passionate doctor! 5/29/2010

She constantly amazes me how passionate she is about in her field. She travels all over the world to give lectures to people and help people at the same time she is so open minded to seek the best of the best treatments, medicines & products wherever she goes. Her vast range of knowledge and passion have always helped our family. She constantly introduces the best products that is reasonably priced out there and always gives us choices so that we can attack our skin issues within our means. She is the hardest working doctor I've ever known. Always there for her patients 6 days a week from early morning till late in the evening unless she has lecture engagements some parts of the world ;-) We truly thank you for your hard work Dr. Effron! Pros: Constantly seeking the best of the best Cons: A bit of drive for us more

She has helped our family tremendously 5/26/2010

My younger daughter and myself has severe eczema. Every time she sees us, she gives us very detailed instruction of what to do. If we thoroughly follow her directions, our condition gets improved immediately. Amazing how quickly she spots our issues and treat us. When I'm too busy and cannot follow her direction precisely, then I can see that I slowed down the speed of getting results. My elder daughter's warts got improved tremendously in a few days after we are given the directions. My husband has been seen by her since she started practice. Our girls have been seen by her since they were babies and been helped throughout. She is very gentle with our daughters and filled with fun spirits. My girls love her and so do we. Pros: All of our skin problems got improved and under control Cons: Nothing I can think of more

Being Helped Tremendously 5/26/2010

My daughter has atopic skin and myself have skin eczema. She has been helping our entire family tremendously with her detailed directions, medicine and products both from her product line and others. Thanks to her our skin condition is under control and we are so grateful for what she does! Pros: Gentle with kids, Vast knowledge Cons: Cannot think of more

Thankful Family 5/26/2010

I have 4 kids coming to see Dr. Effron for acne problems monthly. Though they are all on different regiments, all of them are getting results. They are not embarrassed at school anymore. These days kids can be cruel at school. Now my kids are confident and looking great! Pros: Results..Results..Results Cons: Wait times more

Beauty Editors Beware! 4/27/2010

I can't say enough about this place. I'm a beauty editor, and I was going to write a review on Dr. Effron for my column. Now I'm afraid that if I print my experience with her, she might be removed from practice or something. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy, but Dr. Effron is someone I will never forget. Pros: close to my house Cons: Too many to list - I am fighting to REPAIR WHAT SHE DID more

Great Doctor 7/30/2009

Great with clearing my acne. SImple, direct and to the point. That is what I like. Now I am cleared up and on a maintanence program. I look and feel wonderful. Pros: Knowledgable Cons: wait times-like most doctors more

You get what you pay for... 7/30/2009

After going to several doctors, I finally found someone that actually knew what they were talking about. Educated and science driven, I actaully got results. If you listen and do what you are suppose to, you will get results...no doubt about it! If things are financially tight, Dr. Effron is willing to work with you too. Whether you get sample Rx's or perhpas get one of her brands for less then pharmacies trying to get you on generics. She is wonderful and caring. Thank you for all that you have done for our family. Pros: Results-Science driven Cons: some wait times more

Straight Shooter 7/29/2009

If you want the truth and can handle the truth, Dr. Effron is your MD. Dr. Effron is passionate about her work and is a leader in her field. After 25 years of practice people come from all over the United States to see her. Though the wait times could be long, she is thorough with her regiments and gets patients the results they are looking for. There is an old saying ""you get what you pay for"" and she is result oriented. Pros: Straight Shooter-Detailed Cons: Wait times more

I feel scammed.... 5/18/2009

I wanted to see Dr. Effron for a simple skin exam and during my evaluation I voiced concern over some uneveness in my skin tone. She suggested I had rosacea and recommended I buy all of her skin products including a cleanser, sunscreen and moisturizer. She also prescribed a very expensive face cream. She spent no more than 5 minutes with me and as I was asking questions she kept inching towards the door at time opening the door and then closing it again as I asked a new question. When I got my bill later I was charged $179 for that 5 minute office visit not to mention the $15 face cleanser, the $30 sunscreen, the $115 face cream and the $30 face wipes and I haven't seen any improvement in my complexion. After seeing her bill and experiencing such terrible bedside manner I canceled my follow-up appointment and will be seeking a new dermatologist. I wouldn't go back to her if it was free. Pros: Nearby Cons: Dr. Effron is nothing more than a salesperson more

Surgery without antibiotics? 4/17/2009

I had my left knee replaced on 2-10-09 (which was communicated to Dr Effron) when I went to see her on 3-10-09 for a suspicious mole (near the knee replacement incision). Long story short - she NEVER consulted the surgeon who did the knee replacement PRIOR to taking a biopsy of the mole - which turned out to be cancerous - NOR prior to having surgery done to remove the cancer. What concerned me the most was that she never gave me antibiotics PRIOR to surgery! I trusted that she {being a doctor} would know the protocal....but that was not the case. My surgeon, upon finding out that the surgery Dr Effron had done WITHOUT antibiotics was also done without a phone call to him - was my reason for never trusting or going back to her again. I appreciate that the cancer was caught - but the fact that she put me at risk of getting an infection (and possible 2nd knee surgery) will keep me from ever going back to her! Pros: Mole was cancerous Cons: Didn't check with knee replacement surgeon before proceeding more

Dr. Effron Dermatologist or sales person? You decide. 11/12/2008

Dr. Effron is truly a sales person. I waited in the waiting room for her for about an hour and a half. I was to be seen for a pigment discoloration at the corner of my mouth, which turns out to be vitiligo as diagnosed by a good dermatologist. She finally came in the room, didn't even look at this vitiligo spot and went straight for the rosacea. She said, oh you have rosacea pretty bad, I recommend myself to do laser treatment and you should buy a bunch of my cosmetics. She tried to sell me 5 laser sessions at her Anaheim Hills clinic and about 150.00 in her cosmetics. Wow thanks for nothing. To top it off, apparently my PPO would not cough up money to pay there portion. Instead of receiving a statement for the balance 4 months later I receive a phone call from a collections agency. Thanks for ruining my credit and not paying attention to why I originally showed up. Don't bother talking to Donna in billing. She told me that I should learn how to pay my bills and that she doesn't have time to talk to someone who doesn't pay on time and hung up on me. Come on, whats with our health care system? Pros: ? Are you serious ? Pros, lol, lol, hahahaahhahahaha Cons: Worst medical practice ever. more

Wonderful, Caring Dermatologist 8/12/2008

I have seen Dr. Effron for over 5 years now and can't say enough good things about her, her practice and her staff. She is a caring, compassionate doctor with extensive training and knowledge. I would recommend her to my friends and family. Pros: Quality of Care Cons: Distance from my house (but I still make the drive) more

GREAT DERMATOLOGIST! 6/30/2008

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Dr. Effron not only cares about her patients, but tells you like it is! Her wealth of information, her passion, her intelligence and level of expertise is unique in this day an age. You cannot find doctors like this any more. I would recommend her to anyone looking to get real answers. Thanks for all you have done for me and my family. Pros: Result oriented Cons: may have to wait to see her more

Would not recommend the HB office! Saw PA 6/12/2008

I went for a visit and saw Dr. Effron's PA, Donna. From the minute I walked into the office, I was turned off. First of all, IT WAS FREEZING in there and the TV was so loud! Then they called me back to the room where I sat for a LONG TIME! Then the worst part...I could hear EVERYTHING that the PA was saying to her patient next door and let me tell, this would be something he would want NOBODY to hear!! Luckily, I did not see him or hear his name! Extremely personal information that I could hear verbatim. The PA was loud and sounded very annoyed with him. Then she came and was whispeing ""loudly"" about his situation, money, etc. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I felt so sorry for the way this poor man was treated and the fact that I heard his business. Pros: close to my office Cons: EVERYTHING! more

best doctor 2/27/2008

dr. cheryl effron is the best doctor i've ever had. i've been a patient of her for 7 or 8 years now. i been in to her office several times with break outs of rashes on my face and body. most of the my skin was horrible and it hurt. when i go to dr. effron's office it's worth the hour wait for her. she takes one look at me and explains to me what i have and prescribes me what i need...she said it'll cure in 4 days and you know what...my skin did. 4 days my rashes were gone and the swelling went down in a day. i'm very happy with dr. effron and won't see anyone else. she straight to the point and will let you know what to do to make your skin look and feel better. more
