First Time 11/6/2010

I went to my first class last week and I was really nervous. I didn't think I would fit in and would just look stupid. As soon as I walked in the door my nervousness went away. The studio is very warm and inviting, everyone is super nice & D'ana was a phenomenal teacher and made me feel at ease. I tried another class the next Saturday with Abbey called Yoga for stiffer bodies and it was well worth getting up early for. Abbey is a wonderful teacher and has way of making you feel great! I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for great yoga experience! more

BEST YOGA IN THE WEST 10/12/2010

I don't even live in Salt Lake....but my family does. I have been going to this studio religiously since it opened every time I visit Salt Lake. I have to admit that I have purposely planned entire trips JUST to do a week of yoga with Dana, the owner. I'm not even kidding when I tell you that I lived in NYC when I first started going here, and have since moved to Los Angeles, and I still consider this one of the best in THE COUNTRY. I cannot say enough about how much this studio welcomes you, is NEVER EVER pretentious, and is the best yoga at ANY stage of your yoga practice. I could go on and on, but then it would sound like a fake review. Honestly, if you have any doubts just GO once.. And then you'll see what I'm talking about. more

I Love Centered City Yoga 10/12/2010

Centered City Yoga is an amazing studio that I have been frequenting for six years. There are a variety of yoga classes for any age, level, and ability and two locations in the valley (one on 9th and 9th) and one in Millcreek.\r \r Because the atmosphere is so inviting and the yoga community is so active and friendly at Centered City Yoga, I have made some lasting friendships and discoveries about myself that would not have happened anywhere else. I have also seen my yoga practice improve exponentially in all aspects, from deep meditation to advanced postures, and I am so happy to have discovered this little jewel in the heart of Salt Lake City. Thank you, Dana Baptiste! more

Roots 10/11/2010

I found my way into Centered City Yoga in the fall of 2006. I had just relocated back to Salt Lake to join my older brother in his fight with Leukemia. One of the resources we found was a free, weekly yoga class for cancer patients and their family members offered at CCY. Upon entering the building, removing my shoes and climbing the staircase with my brother, I knew I had found a sanctuary for myself in Salt Lake. I quickly became a weekly regular and in no time was able to hit my yoga stride. My yoga education took another giant step this last summer when I enrolled in one of Dana Baptiste's teacher training courses. This studio's roots run deep; deep into the local community and deep into the yogic tradition. I would highly recommend this studio to everyone! more

We love it so much we carpool from Park City! 10/11/2010

Some of the best classes I've been to. I love power 1,2 and core. Their scheduling is online so you can see who is teaching when. Some teachers are better than others but isn't that always the case? more

This is the place to find yourself, your true self. 10/11/2010

The first day that I entered Centered City Yoga I was met with warm, welcoming, knowledgeable people who are ingrained in an honest yoga tradition. However, the difference that this studio offers to students is an open path to personal discovery through yoga. The meaning here is that they care about each and every student in regards to their practice by taking the time to teach yoga to the individual and not just to the 'room' in a disengaged way. The teachers at CCY know and understand that the path to yoga is a personal journey and they take the time to help the students grow one day at a time. I have since moved to another city in the United States and continue to struggle in finding a yoga studio that takes the time and effort to help students develop their yoga practice. With a background in dance and teaching movement I have personally witnessed practices that are not engaged with the student while in yoga classes. CCY is a place where the integrity of the practice is honored and practiced everyday. There is a very special place that CCY offers both in community and in their teaching that is something not to be described but something to be experienced instead. The more time I spent in their arms, the more awareness I have gained in my life. I am a thankful person and to this studio for what it has shared with me in my life....Namaste. so thankful. more

Make your own judgement 10/11/2010

Positives: This is nice place with a few good instructors. I will continue to go to one or two instructors. I would try it and judge for yourself.\r \r Negatives: I have noticed many participants doing the moves wrong and in an unsafe way. The instructors NEVER notice or correct them. I know a bit about yoga but there are some new moves that are new to me that they teach.... am I doing them right? I wouldn't know because they don't tell me. The classes ALWAYS start late. more

First Time Yoga On My Birthday 10/11/2010

I attended my first yoga class ever yesterday on my 26th birthday. Not only was CCY the most warm and inviting place, but Dana Baptiste is one of the most amazing individuals I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She had the class sing happy birthday to me during class, and it made me feel so welcomed. I will keep going to yoga because of how I felt when I left!!!!! more

Incredible Studio & Staff 10/11/2010

I was a little intimidated to try a ""yoga studio"" because i was worried that only serious yogis went to studios . A yoga instructor at another place said i should give Centered City a try. She was always saying how incredible this Centered City was. I decided to try it and took a power class from Scott. Scott made me feel welcome from the very beginning. I then decided to try core taught by D'ana. She made me feel very welcome!! I have since taken classes from a lot of the instructors at Centered City and each of them are very knowledgeable and welcoming D'ana, Abbey,(Kate Crews, Kym, D'ana, James, Scott, John, Bronwen)! I cant wait to further my practice and Centered City yoga and feel blessed to have been introduced to this incredible studio and STAFF! This studio is Awesome! more

My Calgon Moment 10/11/2010

I came to CCY after doing Bikram for 3 yrs. I loved the atmosphere instantly. The teachers are all wonderful instructors. The studio is warm & inviting. I went through D'ana's 600hr teacher training, and all I can say is WOW - what an amazing experience! I gained so much more than I expected. (I actually teach at a studio in another part of the valley,, but attend CCY classes as often as I can) If you are looking for a great yoga studio, CCY is one of the best! more

My island of love in an ocean of chaos. 10/11/2010

This place rocks. I'm truly grateful for all the wonderful instructors at CCY. I saw one comment on this website about it being crowded/too hot. All I can say is that it's a really good sign when a yoga class is full. CCY is popular for a reason! That being said, there is always enough room, and I personally enjoy the vibe of lots of people feelin' the love. Oh, and as far as the comment concerning the heat-- no, it's not a Bikram studio, by any means, BUT-- the heat is great for your muscles. I'd rather have a hot yoga classroom than stiff muscles. I was lucky enough to go through D'ana Baptiste's 200 hour yoga instruction certification program this summer and it changed my life. CCY is my island of sanity and love in an ocean of chaos. more

Totally Centered at CCY 10/11/2010

I received the gift of a yoga pass a few years ago for my birthday. I instantly fell in love with the space, teachers and classes at CCY. With, at the time, a spirit stronger than my ailing body, I was able to use my practice to gain both core strength and inner peace. It was an integral component of my healing.\r \r There is truly class for EVERYbody. From finding inner peace and release in Carrie's restore, to getting my butt kicked in D'ana's core. I have never felt pressure to do anything unsafe for the sake of looking all yogic, and I feel supported when wanting to expand further. It is truly my practice with the full support and awareness of my teacher(s). \r \r BTW.... If you’re looking to find a guru, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to find your own inner guru, CCY might just be the studio for you!\r more

Love this place! 10/11/2010

I found CCY and yoga about two years ago and have reaped many benefits from all of my experiences there. The instructors are generous, educated, funny, and simply amazing. D'Ana has created an extraordinary place. I highly recommend Lucy's Stiffer Bodies class to unlock those tight places both physically and mentally. Yoga is good for whatever ails you. more

Centered City Yoga 10/11/2010

I have loved being part of Centered City Yoga. I have learned so much about myself and the yoga practice. I would highly recommend it to anyone searching for more balance in their lives. Dana has created a beautiful environment where everyone is welcomed. more

A Great Landing Pad 10/11/2010

I practice many different types of yoga, but I always consider it a blessing to practice at CCY. No judgement, no chicanery, just the bottom line. I drive all the way from Orem, so if it wasn't worth it, I would go somewhere closer. I am grateful to call D'ana one of my teachers, but also my friend. There is a great sense of commaraderie in the studio and lots of supportive friends. See you there! more

Best Studio in SLC 10/11/2010

Initially I started doing Yoga at Centered City as a way to try and rehab my tight hips. What I found when I got started back in 2003 was an entire community of people willing to share and spend energy with each other. As soon as I got to know D'ana, she was a breath of fresh air. I now live in the Bay Area (San Fran), and I still look for Yoga studios that offer classes that are similar to Centered City, however, I have not found anything that is close, either in quality of instructors, enjoyment, or benefit. Thanks everyone, I'll be doing Yoga for as long as I can. more

Centered City Changed My Life 10/11/2010

I walked into Centered City Yoga almost one year ago, and since that day my life has never been the same. I was able to find my true authentic self by engaging myself in phenomenal yoga practices, and also by graduating from the best yoga school in the world created by D'ana Baptiste. My life since then has been actively involved in promoting a studio that is so authentic and so incredibly welcoming. Its the type of studio you go into and you immediately feel at home. Everyone knows your name, and there is a strong sense of inclusion and community. I heard a comment today as I was in the studio, the person who came into the studio had not been in for awhile but her exact words were, ""this place is so authentic!"" Which is exactly what Centered City is all about. It really has helped me on so many levels, and I would travel from across the state to do yoga at CCY. There is nothing like it, and It is my pleasure to stand up for a studio that is so actively involved in not only building others and helping them realize their potential but also a studio that is involved in building the community and helping out with local causes. I love you Centered City, thank you D'ana for building such a strong foundation on 9th and 9th. I love it! and I am better because of your amazing studio and community. Centered City sets a standard for yoga for sure in SLC! Go check it out! You wont regret it. more
