Loving Roots :) 10/11/2010

Truly a place to Center!! When ever I find myself feeling as if I am being pushed along through life, I can find stability and my own feet again at CCY. Not only is it a place to find your own roots and stability within yourself, but also to recognize how much love there is within your roots, and the world around you! Feeling blue and need some more love in your life? GO TO CCY!! Its hard to leave without a smile :) And having done one teacher training, and in the process of another at CCY, I can guarantee there is nothing but love given from everyone I have met at that studio, including the students :) Find the Loving Roots within yourself at CCY!! more

Home away from Home 10/11/2010

It may sound trite, but this place has changed my life, in so many ways. CCY is a place of total acceptance and peace. The instructors know their craft in a deep and meaningfull sense. When i took my first yoga class i was stiff from years of weightlifting and had steoporosis in both feet. Six months later i have a much more flexible body and am virtually free of my arthritis. i would recommend CCY to anyone, in whatever shape, from the beginner to the master! more

Great studio 10/11/2010

I discovered CCY while on a snowboarding trip from Florida. I've only taken 2 classes there, both from D'ana Baptiste, but rate it among the best studios I've been to. The space is gorgeous and unique, and D'ana is a wonderful instructor who's very down-to-earth and approachable. I've yet to make it back out to SLC, but on my next trip I'll visit CCY, guaranteed! more

A True Gem! 10/11/2010

CCY has something for everyone! I love that you can go to one studio and have the opportunity to take such a variety of classes... pranayama, power yoga, core, fundamentals (where you spend a whole hour on 2 or 3 poses learning the correct form), restore, and the list goes on and on and on. Every instructor I've ever had at that studio (and I've taken MANY classes there) has been kind, nurturing, authentic, skilled, and very knowledgeable about yoga. I felt welcome each and every time I walked through the doors and I am deeply saddened that I've had to move away from SLC and lose the opportunity to practice in such an environment. There is no yoga studio where I am now that even comes close to comparing with CCY. What a gem! more

Worth the drive 10/11/2010

I live in Park City and make the trek down to CCY about twice a week. The class times are convenient, the studio clean and the instructors are exceptionally professional, friendly and talented. I only wish I'd added yoga and the CCY studio to my wellness routine sooner... well done CCY, keep up the good work. more

DANA AND CCY ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST 10/11/2010

After practicing and studying yoga for close to 25 years across the US and in several foreign countries, I can attest that the offerings at Centered City Yoga are the best that you will find ANYWHERE!\r \r Dana is recognized throughout the country for her depth of knowledge and inspirational teaching style. Her instructors have depth and a cross-section of expertise that is unbelievably strong and motivational. \r \r Of course, everyone has a bad day every now and then. If you have one bad experience at CCY, take a second class. I will guarantee that if you are open to having a positive experience with yoga, you can find it at CCY. more

A place for everyBODY! 10/11/2010

2 years ago, I was brand-new to Salt Lake city and was having a hard time finding any type of community. I decided to try to get back into Yoga, so I googled Yoga studios in Salt Lake, and Centered City came up. I was a little nervous being a ""bigger body"", but from the moment I stepped inside, I felt accepted and cared for. The instructors took time out to help me with modifications for my size and to talk about ways to protect my joints (knees, wrists, feet, ankles, ect). CCY has helped me find a community and a strong self-image. I will be forever grateful! more

A remarkable place of learning and peace. 10/11/2010

I have been blessed and surprised by the competence and inspiration that I found at Centered City Yoga. Dana and her staff are quite patient, tolerant of beginners, and quite capable of creating a path for progress toward remarkable skill level that is non-competitive, non-judgemental, yet still inspires and assists great results. I would and have recommended to all of my sensitive, thoughtful friends - that they study with and be inspired by the remarkable instructors and practitioners at CCY. more

Centered City Yoga 3/4/2010

terrible experience. classes are over crowded, it is too hot (it isn't suppose to be bikram), it smells like sweat and it is stuffy. and some of the people who work there are rude. Pros: near the downtown area Cons: over crowded and it smells like sweat more

A Gym, Not a Yoga Studio 9/2/2009

Centered City is a gym, not a yoga studio. The workout teachers have no knowledge about yoga, and fake their way through classes by acting spiritual. People I know who went through their training program stated that 1 out of 5 students were seriously injured, and the owner, D'ana Baptiste, ignores any complaints or concerns about safety. Centered City is a great place to go if you want to get hurt. Pros: Great if You're Stuck Up Cons: Good Place to Get Injured more

Okay place 2/4/2009

I'm brand brand new to yoga and I finally decided to give into the yoga craze and try it out. CCY is right by my house so I thought itd be a perfect place to start.\r \r I tried calling to ask a few questions, but CCY only has an answering machine. I left a message but noone ever called me back. I arrived 3 minutes late to the intro class (because I couldnt find parking), and I wanted to ask a question before I went into the class, but this rude lady with dark curly hair, was snotty with me and acted like I was wasting her time, didn't answer my question, and practically threw me into the intro class. \r \r I wanted to leave right away, but when I met the intro teacher John, I had to stay. He is so nice and does a great job giving beginners a lot of yoga info. He gave us some yoga history and tips for beginners while taking us through basic yoga moves. He is fabulous. The room where the class is held is small, but we all fit. \r \r I tried the intro class one more time, but John wasn't there, and the teacher there wasn't very good. She was nice, but I still couldn't get over that rude lady from the first time I was there. \r \r Despite that experience, I've moved on and I've found my niche at a different yoga studio. If you like unfriendly staff go to CCY. Pros: Fabulous Intro Teacher Cons: Unfriendly staff, parking, small studio room more

This place is great! 1/12/2008

I am a total neophyte to yoga and this place is perfect -- they have classes for my level but also for those who actually know what they are doing. My favorite class is Yoga for Stiff Bodies and Scott is an amazing teacher. You will leave his class feeling totally centered! He has the perfect voice, a great tempo to his class and just the right level of challenge. Core with Sheldon is also a fantastic class -- he is not afraid to help you improve your practice! Pros: They give a discount for teachers! How great is that? Cons: None! more

not reccomended 10/30/2007

Picture the locker room in a Jr. High before roll call...Well thats what you have. Classes are loud, with a 'clickish' atmosphere to boot. If your in to that... Pros: Nice building, good for folks that like the loud kinda thing. Cons: most of the instructors seem new to yoga and lack skills. more

ccy rocks! 4/15/2006

Very community oriented, a place to meet good people and relate on the use of the body. Very friendly atmosphere, low pressure environment. Wide range of classes to choose from to fit varying skill levels. Teachers are looking to get you into your body, not into your ego. more

This Is The Place! 4/13/2006

It's hard to find good yoga classes. Once you find the right class for your tastes and level, you will be hooked on Centered City. Instructors are fabulous and with a sense of humor. D'ana (owner) is a real community-builder, often encouraging involvement in humanitarian campaigns both locally and otherwise- and she also offers heavily-discounted prices for teachers and single parents. If you are interested in yoga for your body and soul, try Centered City. Pros: great instructors, community-driven, healing yoga more

Everyone Knows your Name 3/28/2006

Quiet, peaceful, zen like? Sure, I like to feel like I'm getting in touch with my inner feelings, and at Centered City I certainly DO feel centered. But Centered City goes a step further in making you feel AT HOME. It's a place where everyone knows your name right from the start. The focus, concentration, and instruction in every class is top notch. Plus you feel comfortable asking questions in an atmosphere that invites exploration. more

One sweaty mess 3/27/2006

A freind told me this was the place to go and i about kicked her for that. The class I attended was well over full and way way too hot. I enjoy a good power class and a good teacher but this was basically a ""class on script"". I'm not sure if the instructor ever even came over to see how I was doing or if I had any previous injuries. It looked like much of the class was well behind in knowing how to do what the teacher was asking, just a little scary. It seemed that the few who could come up with how to do the poses we're very proud about it, I am very happy for them. I think I'll look at some of the other places and meet my friend some time after her next class instead of during. Pros: price, nice brick Cons: crowded, instruction, heat more
