Carpet Den came highly recommended for carpeting my entire house on Bradford Ave, except kitchen and bath. The grade carpet I wanted was more expensive than comparable at Home Depot, but that was not the worst of it. Either the carpet quality or the installation or both caused ""ripples"" - high places in the carpet that appeared within weeks (days in a few places). I went back to Carpet Den at least three times to get this fixed and was given excuses - that the ""small ridges would settle down over time"", or that the ""furniture would flatten it out"". I finally said that they needed to come fix this, and I was flatly told that they would not. This was most disturbing. I kept hoping the ripples would flatten over time and that furniture would help this. It did not. I bought the carpet in Spring 2002 and this week (June 2009) it was removed because it was just so awful.
I will never forget being also irritated by the restrictions attached to the carpet warranty. I did not even know there would be warranty restrictions until AFTER the installation. The carpet and installation was supposed to have been good for 20+ years, but only ""IF"" I vacuumed it with a strong brushing vacuum every week (no problem), used a variety of sophisticated cleaning agents for any spots and spills (some were foreign to me), and had all the carpet in the house professionally cleaned every 12 months. It was not enough that I had my own Bissell carpet steam cleaner for this kind of maintenance. Needless to say, the warranty was worthless and Carpet Den did not stand behind its work or product.
If Carpet Den would like for me to retract this statement, I would be happy to have them call me to come fix their carpet in the two bedrooms (mostly unused spaces) where their carpet remains. But the clock is ticking on this offer... Call me.
Pros: None yet
Cons: Just altogether BAD
