Best

After searching for a place to host my saturday nite birthday party we settled on the Capitol Club because of a delicious sounding menu, nice looking location and very reasonable ...

Worst

I recently went to a party held in the blue room at the Capital Club and was not impressed. Our server was not interested in taking drink orders, guests had to either wait 45min ...

Mundane night out 10/7/2005

I am having difficulty writing a review, because there was nothing spectacular or disappointing about my experience at the Capitol Club. We sat downstairs for dinner, and a menu that attempted to be unique and/or experimental, turned out to be very ordinary. Our server was far from rude, but seemed disinterested and was far from helpful. The highlight was the wine, which was excellent. The two large parties (both 8+ people) turned what could have been an excellent date night spot into an experience where we were not dis-satisfied, but at the same time ready to go home before the conclusion of the meal. more

I'll be BACK 4/24/2005

5 of my gal pals and I had an outrageous dining experience at the Capitol Club. I've been wanting my 5th Avenue play group to go there before, but you have to take a taxi so it's a slight hassle..........but so worth it!! Our drinks were tasty.... our appetizers wonderful, especially the medajool dates. We ordered duck, halibut, and the burger.........all to die for. Date cake for desert is a MUST! Our waiter was attentive and fun!! I'm coming back with my husband and my kids ages 9 and 13!!! Pros: Good Value, Creative, Great environment more

No more private parties at the Capital Club 4/11/2005

I recently went to a party held in the blue room at the Capital Club and was not impressed. Our server was not interested in taking drink orders, guests had to either wait 45min for her to address them or go upstairs and get it from the bartender. I was considering ordering food, however the server was not interested in selling any. Needless to say a few of us had to leave the party and go down the street to get food elsewhere. I will not be returning to the Capital Club for the horrible service. Pros: ambience Cons: service more

Service 3/16/2004

The lounge is the great place to hang out and eat dinner. Service, however can be real hit and miss. There are exceptional wait staff present on most nights, but when they aren't around, it can be exceptionally trying, and nearly impossible to even be recognized when sitting at the bar. Despite the occasional bad server, it's always worth a visit, exceptional food with rarely a miss. Pros: Value, drink menu, Great food Cons: , Service, Parking more

Great bar - terrible restaurant. 2/11/2003

I loved the bar. Very cosy, warm, fun. People were friendly, room to make new friends. The restaurant however was a joke. Exceptionally overpriced, under the gise of "ethnic food"... There is nothing good about paying 11bucks for a salad - which was just a few lettuce leaves, and some feta cheese - nothing else.... this was smaller than most side/dinner salads. The clams were good, but nothing special. My advice is eat elsewhere, but go for the breat bar. Some of the mixes of drinks weren't so hot - avoid a long island. Otherwise magical. more

Rainy Monday 9/24/2002

So a few friends and I were up on Capitol Hill on a rainy Monday night. After refusing to pay a cover at a dead bar (shall remain nameless), I asked our little band to trust me....That we would soon happen upon an unexpected surprise. Not ten minutes went by before we were sitting in the posh surroundings of the Capitol Club. Cool, cushy, classy. The club turned an otherwise mundane Monday into a memorable night out. The Hogarten reminded me of London... Pros: Trendy/relaxed digs, Crowd, Drink selection more

Great Food, Great Wine, Great Time 9/24/2002

I dined at the Capitol Club on Tuesday night, and was delighted to discover that all of their wine was half price that night. So, my friends and I decided on two bottles of Alexis Swanson, and the server helped us to select food to complement it. We started with a huge plate of mussels, which was the best I've ever tasted! The mussles came swimming in a zesty tomato harissa sauce.....It was so good that I was tempted to take the couple of remaining tablespoons of sauce home. I've always loved the food at the Capitol Club, and it just keeps getting better! We're certainly coming back next Tuesday night. Pros: delicious food, great wines, good value Cons: bad parking more

Always Hot! 9/24/2002

I've been a CC regular for years, and the place never ceases to please me. I love sipping summer coctails on their beautiful garden patio a couple of nights a week, feeling the warm summer breezes and listening to sultry music floating in from inside the bar. Last night, I decided to try the cozy downstairs restaurant for the first time, and ended up feasting on this incredible baked halibut, and perhaps the best salad I have ever had--a green salad with the most delicious balsamic dressing. My friend and I were having such a good time, that we decided to skip the movie and go upstairs to the bar. My date was very impressed with the cozy and exotic bar atmosphere, and the excellent table service. more

great new find for me!!! 9/22/2002

I had never been to your place, but finally made it there a few months ago. I love the decor and the ambiance. A great place to go for drinks inside, or outside on the terrace. I didn't get to try the food, but am certainly looking forward to it soon! The capitol club is definitely on my list of places to go in Seattle! more

some of the best food i have ever had! 8/29/2002

Going to the Capital club on a reccomendation was a very good idea. Iwas there on adate and more or less i was just there to be with my friend and chill out, but after recieving our food our conversation dwindled to a a complete halt as we became totally engrossed in our meals. The break in the frenzy was our seaver recommending a wine to go with the food, needless to say with a nod the wine was there and the match was sublime. You have a new regular. Thank you! more

Bottom line...... Excellent! 7/27/2002

On the evening of Saturday 27 I was dining at the Capitol Cub with 4 of my friends, where I had usually enjoyed the bar I thought I would test the waters downstairs. From the service to the food everything was perfect. Being that there were five of us I got to see and try alot of the food and was wholly satisfied. In all honesty I was quite surprised at the quality of food coming out of a kitchen of an establishment that is known for it's cocktails and not it's cuisine. To top it off the server was elegant and knowledgeable as we asked her many questions about the wine and the food. Bravo.... I will be back more

Mighty fine opium den of a bar 7/19/2002

I have never been taken care of as well as at the Capitol Club, and this in a city known for good service. Our cocktailer was funny and friendly when we wanted to talk to him, and invisible when we wanted to talk to each other (though he did keep our drinks coming). Bombay is Bombay no matter where you drink it, but the club mixes a good martini in a large glass. Can't say much about the food; all I've had is the pita/hummous/olive plate, which is fine, but it looks like there's a pretty fine menu which might warrent further perusal. Pros: Snazzy atmosphere, Deck seats w/view, Full of people Cons: Bad parking, Too many candles, Full of people more

Out of chances 7/15/2002

I really wanted to like this place. It's got a great location, and the atmosphere is cool. Let this serve as a testimonial that a cool space does not a great bar make. The problem is, far and away, the service. Each time I've been in, it's taken at least 20 minutes for a server to even notice our existence. Then when they do finally take our order, it takes so long that you wonder if they've forgotten about you or your server's gone on break or something. Lastly, I can forgive slow service if the person is at least pleasant, but the 'tude is over the top. I've tried to give the CC several chances, knowing that it IS possible to hit a place on a bad night, but I've been there four times and I haven't noticed any difference. I will not be going back to this bar. more

Agreed, 7/15/2002

Great scene, location etc. Bartender are horrible, as is the service. more

From Favorite to Snob city 7/10/2002

A favorite of my boyfriend and I. We stopped by for a few drinks recently. My boyfriend ordered a mixed drink that was admittedly a complicated one to make. It was one of the worst I've ever had. I asked the waiter for something else and he proceeded to school me on the drink and inform me that this is how the drink was made and someone who knew this drink would like it. I assured him it wasn't my inexperience sipping cocktails that made this drink pond water. He brought a new cosmo that had lipstick around the edges. I pointed this out and assured him that we were both boys and we were not infact wearing makup. He failed to see the humor and sloppily took the glass away without asking if we wanted a replacement. With so many places in Seattle, it's unfortunate that some get smug. Pros: Good atmospher Cons: Bad Service, Rude waiters more

I never tire of it 5/20/2002

I've been to the Capitol Club a million times and I never tire of it. It's perfect for a night out with the girls or a drink with a date. The deck upstairs is ideal on a sunny evening and even better when the sun goes down. Don't forget to order something---the food can be terrific. more

  • The Scene
Pillowed booths, ornate lanterns and candlelight set a swanky Moroccan mood that romance-seeking couples find irresistible. A DJ pipes in groovy background music that's as non-intrusive as waitstaff who keep the meal moving along smoothly. On a warm night, the balcony off the second-floor lounge is the perfect setting for a signature cocktail.

    The Food
Middle Eastern touches highlight this menu, with delicacies such as sweet Medjool dates with Brie, and sweet, fat scallops boldly combined with pomegranate vinaigrette and parsnip. The kitchen also draws on Spain, Italy and France for culinary inspiration. The grilled veal (a choice free-range organic chop) deserves special mention for its incredible tenderness and accompanying roasted grape sauce and celery root gratin. For herbivores, there's a filling risotto and substantial salads. Strong flavors dominate the bar food as well, such as a small pizza topped with fennel salami and olive tapanade.
