Pricey Power Lunch. 12/14/2004

It's easy to see why the power-lunch steak crowd likes the Capital Grill. The decor is inviting and service is top-notch. The menu offers pretty straight forward steak & seafood items. All are well prepared and flavorful, but no avante-garde cuisine here. The split pea soup is excellent, the special "stew" of the day (a sirloin, mushroom & onion dish in a rich brandy cream sauce) was very good, but very rich. The wine list is extensive but features very few options under $30. Lunch for 6 came to $350. In summary, this is a good steak house but come prepared shell out a little more than you might expect. Yeah, there's quite a few steakhouses in and around Denver, but seriously, they're no competition. The Capital Grille dry-ages their steak in house, which no other high-end steakhouse in Denver does, and they have an amazingly huge wine list, proving their committment to quality. The service is always one step ahead, and so personable. They use your name, they remember your name, and they treat you as a friend rather than just another customer. And the bar scene, on a friday or saturday night, it's the best place to be to mingle with some of Denver's finest. And don't forget to try a Stoli Doli, their signature martini (pineapple infused vodka). They're to die for! Overall, The Capital Grille is simply uncomparable! Pros: friendly, happening, free valet parking more

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The steaks will leave you speechless! Superb! Juicy and flavorful, not to mention the au gratin potatoes which on their own should win some national contest! The service was wonderful and not too intrusive. We had the Steak Au Poivre with Courvosier cream sauce and the dry aged sliced steak with garlic butter. All of the dishes sound delicious however. I would definitely go back again. It is pricey, but unquestionably worth it. Make reservations and you will get complimentary valet! Best of all, it is not a snooty place like some steakhouses are. Pros: Best Steaks, Good service more

OK so this is the best Steak House in Denver. I am a frequent visitor and recommend it unreservedly. Food is excellent. Ambience is perfect. Wine list is outstanding. And I will go back any evening! The only complaint I have is with the intrusive service. Some of these waiters may as well just pull up a chair and join you! Perhaps its just over exuberance, but after a while, you think we can perhaps learn something from the French. Pros: Ambience, Food, Wine List more
