I walked into this store without the intention of purchasing anything. Was just browsing through when this ever smiling sales consultant came to me and walked me through the store explaining and making me more knowledgeable on the different types of guns and knives. I was out with a set of utility knives which I may put to use in my kitchen. It was a great experience and the consultant that walked me through was very polite and knowledgeable. more

The first encounter was a good one. Walked in one day to ask a lot of questions prior to purchasing a california compliant AR-15. Though I have many handguns, I have never owned a rifle before. I wanted to make sure all of my questions were answered and definitely didn't want to feel or look like a complete idiot. They figured out i had no clue, but still made my experience comfortable for me to ask more questions to ensure I was making the right decision for my AR build. Wasn't pressure to just buy! I met great guys like Justin, Mike, Pat, and Chuck the owner. Pat is a great gunsmith! Very friendly, since some of their family members are local offiicers themselves. If they don't have something, they'll research it for you and find what you need. Overall very satisfied and fair prices. Just like any customer use your best judgement to find the best deal! more

I normally go trekking and mountain climbing and so I was looking for a knife that would suit these purposes as I had a mountain climbing trip coming up very soon. Went here to check out some knives and I got a beautiful utility knife from here that would serve te purposes for both my rock climbing and trekking trips.\r more

The prices here are somewhat high compared to other local establishments. In the past, I've had good experiences with the clerks (both younger gentlemen). I've never had direct communication with the owner until today, and unfortunately, because of it, I will most likely never buy anything here again.\r \r *I do want to reiterate that I think the clerks are great; they are friendly and knowledgeable.* \r \r The owner, who butted in to my contact with the clerk, was condescending and callous. I told the owner (politely and tactfully) that I felt he was being disrespectful to me. The owner went on the attack, targeting my particular law enforcement status in a way I can only describe is belittling. With what the store charges for their merchandise, I would expect professional and humble customer service.\r \r I chose California Police Equipment because I felt they were a more professional alternative than certain retailers. I work in law enforcement so I'm always hearing from co-workers experiences at local police equipment stores. Almost all were negative reviews. But, I decided to come check it out anyway since I was in the area. I have to say I see all these reviews that the sales people are rude, arrogant and so on, I totally agree. They're are very much so. This has to be in the one the worst neighborhoods in San Diego County. Had to cut the trip short cause wife was feeling on edge about the area and the sale agents rude behavior. I would not recommend this hole in the wall store to anyone. more

Very Impressed I have been looking for a shop who knew their stuff and found it here. I was in the market for an AR 15 and the armorer there Patrick was very knowledgeable and helpful. Plus they are current on the Ca, Gun Laws lol, very nice experience overall I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants decent customer service more

One of the best customer service experiences I have had! So I had passed this place a few times while driving up El Cajon Blvd, and had wanted to stop in for some time. I am working to get into the police academy, so I had a genuine curiosity to see what kind of tools are part of the trade. But then I had a better reason to go in: my mother lives alone and a prowler was recently outside her home. I wanted to buy my mom some pepper spray. The gentleman in the store was very helpful and sold me this little hand-held gun of sorts that fired police grade pepper spray at 70 MPH. When I told him that I was working towards joining the police academy, he was extremely helpful in giving me advice and pointers on how to train before entering the academy. The guys who run this place are very good guys. i heard them answer the phones and they were very professional and friendly. This place also has a GREAT selection of tactical gear. I will be doing business with this place in the future for sure. more

The ""sales clerks"" working there are rude, very arrogant, and not helpful. A lot of my co-workers as well with me have the same complaints. Rude customer service, they act like their cops or something. Why would a ""sales-clerk"" where a gun on their hip? LOL. It's funny when they're just sales clerks. Value: overall expensive. Go to ACE Uniforms: they have a full warehouse of products with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. EEE is a great store for law enforcement needs, with very nice and helpful staff. more

If you are looking for tactical gear and equipment you will not be disappointed. They have a great selection of items such as holsters and gear bags. They also have a great selection of ammunition. It is pretty difficult finding .380 ammunition but this store always seems to have it in stock. They have an enormous amount of accessories for firearms. Lights, optics and cleaning kits to name a few. One thing I particularly like is they carry a huge amount of Magpul products. It seems like they have Magpul's entire catalog in stock. They have a huge selection of handguns and AR-15's in stock. You name it they most likely have it. And if they do not, they can get it for you. They also build AR-15's and sell them either pre-assembled ready to go or you can have a custom one built to your specifications. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. One drawback to this place is the price. They are expensive but they do try their best to match prices. If you need any tactical gear or a handgun, I would recommend this place. more

They're ?ber knowledgeable with their guns/equipment (because I'm just not...so thanks for not making me feel like an idiot).Great gun place... bought my LCP from here in early March....and I love her to death.Definitely coming back for more (i.e. equip) and so should you more

Went in to get some gear for the wife. Two guys working there were chatting with two other guys who were in the store, and wife and I walked around like kids in a candy store. After a few minutes, one of the guys asked us if we were finding everything ok. Wife was looking for a particular set of cuffs, but couldn't find them. Guy asks wife what agency she is with and then shows her where everything is, asks if she knows Sergeant soandso, or Corporal thisandthat, and they start having a great conversation about cop stuff. Guy was super helpful and got everything we needed for us, very relaxed atmosphere, and easily approachable. They don't make you feel like you are wasting their time (American shooting center) or high pressure sales (ACE Uniforms), and it was also super easy to get to. Awesome spot. more

I've ordered two firearms through them and they have always treated me like gold. Their sales staff are very down to earth and genuine. You don't get the typical gun nut behind the sales counter, you know, the guy who claims to former special forces or who ""used to be a reserve"" with such and such police department. The shop can get rather busy at times so it's best to go when they first open in the morning. They are open 7 days a week. They will get more of my future business. more

This place is GOOD. I was respected when i first went there. I was looked at in a manner that an unfamiliar face should be looked at upon entry. I immediately went to talk to someone. There was a firearm there that i was looking for, so i bought it. Plain and simple. They have a good selection of stuff all around. They don't necessarily carry the best prices in town but its not priced like a Cadillac dealer. If you are looking to buy equipment for duty (security/police) this place is a great place to go. They have several batons, several different types of chemical agents and several firearms. Lots of accessories. Cleaning kits. They've had a pile of used holsters and the like in there for a while now at GREAT prices. The new ownership is good, the old owner still shows up to assist in the transition. The people that work there are very professional and very protective. For example, they wont talk about batons with you untill you confirm that you have some sort of certification to carry one. I bought a glock 23 at a very very decent price. Parking is on the sides of the building and i have never had a problem with the spots being full. Its near a subway if i can remember right so lunch is right there. Good luck! more
