Their manager is a Glock and Colt AR armorer and gets work done in a matter of days - not months. All work is guaranteed. Law enforcement personnel who are on duty get immediate assistance so they can get back on the road. Their prices may not be the lowest, but they are fair and the professonal knowledge and assistance received is worth every penney to me. I particularly like NOT being pushed into higher priced products I can't afford or don't want like most gun shops. I like their overall positive attitude - not at all pretentious. more

Outstanding business. I've been to a lot of gun stores all around the country due to military service and this store has the best prices and nicest and very knoledgeable employees. I had my mind set on a glock 23 and was talking to the employees about it and asked what the best gun was for me. They asked me what i was wanting in a gun and told me about how they go shooting on thursdays with their customers. So i went with them one Thursday and they let me shoot a variety of their personal weapons. The next day i Purchased a springfield xd 40 and got an awesome deal on the gun, ammo, and other accessories. I do all my business there now.Im stationed in NC and i wait to take leave do get more stuff for my gun. I highly reccommend this store for everyone interested in purchasing a gun. They have everything from pistols, shotguns, hunting rifles, ar-15's and i just saw in their store on Dec 26th ar-15 pistols. A pin was walking out on my wingmaster 870. Brought it into California Police Equipment for repair. Staff was friendly and told me I would have a quote in a couple days. The price that was quoted was less than I was expecting and they had the gun ready for pickup days before I even had the chance to pick it up! When I went to pickup I was helped immediately. While I was in there I had a few questions about some handguns I was interested in (I'm not familiar with handguns at all.) They gladly answered my questions and had me hold a few different models. After I test out a few handguns at the range I'll probably purchase from these guys. I was treated with great professionalism and respect during my whole experience with California Police Equipment. more

CPE is a GUN STORE. It was owned by a retired SDPD Lieutenant (who just sold it). Before Galls opened, they had the best selection of in-stock duty gear and had a very knowledgeable staff (esp back when Jeremy worked here). In fact, one of my old partners worked here while in college. more

I purchased my first handgun here a few months ago. Justin is very professional and helpful. Patrick is cool too. They are both Glock Armorers. Pricing is hit or miss, which seems to be the story of all gun shops. Definitely gotta shop around for the best price on anything you may be shopping for. Keep this place in mind when you need something. more

I came into the store last week looking to buy a shotgun for home protection. I purchased a Mossberg shotgun that the store owners son recommended. The owners son is a current San Diego Police Officer, he was extremely knowledgeable and honest with me. He didn't push me towards the most expensive shotgun like a previous store had done. i will definitely be back to this store. Hands down in my opinion the best gun shop in San Diego. Love this place. Went in with a list of things that I needed and Justin helped me out big time he went as far as putting all my gear together for me..the staff and customer service here is awesome. Every time u have questions I go back here..I even have a few people that I recommended and they all love it, and when I say a few I mean more than ten people. more

First encounter was a good one. Walked in one day to ask many questions prior to purchasing a California compliant AR-15. Though I have many handguns and never owned a rifle before, I wanted to get all my questions answered and definitely didn't want to feel or look like a complete idiot. They figured out I had no clue, but made the experience comfortable for me to ask more questions to ensure that I was making the right decision for my AR build. Wasn't pressure just to buy! Met great guys like Justin, Mike, Chuck the owner, and Pat! Pat is a great gunsmith! Very LE friendly, since some of the family members are local officers themselves. if they don't have something, they'll definitely research it for you to find what you need! Haven't really compared the prices of too many of their products, but some things I found might possibly be cheaper at another gun store or online business. Overall, pretty satisfied and fair prices. Just like any consumer, use your best judgement to find the best deal! Two thumbs up to CPE. more

The first thing Id like to say is I dont know if they have always been like this but my first time there about 3 years ago a female helped me while I was buying a pepper spray for my wife and she was very helpful and nice, so last week, while looking to buy my first handgun and checking prices, I decided to stop there first. Things couldnt have been worst.. (unless I had gotten shot of course). I walked in there looking for a specific model of hand gun and as I couldnt find it on the display, I asked the girl for it to what she said ""we may havr one there"" but didnt even come close to help me find it, oh and I was the only customer... 3 minutes later I ask her if she can come help me find it and then she comes, as she cant find it either, she asks the guy next to her about it, to that he replies they probably dont have it anymore as they rarely ever have this brand, so I raised the question of why they dont carry this brand to what he replies something like:they only make a couple of good guns"", ok... honest reply, its still all good... but he then continues: ""Anything Else??"" OMG !! he was kicking me out! I almost flipped... but yhen again hes carrying a gun right? So, I just turned and left.... Im real sorry for the gun owner, he must be loosing a bunch of sales this way... more

Employees very friendly and knowledgeable - they are not afraid to give you the skinny on what you're buying (good and bad). Lots of holsters, lights, clothing, boots - a few cases of handguns and knives. 10% discount for military and police. more

Not sure what the poor reviews are about. I went in (unbeknownst to me) right as they were closing one night. The guys told me that my purchase would take as long as it takes. I didn't feel rushed at all - they were super helpful, chatty, and VERY knowledgeable. I bought a pair of tactical pants cause they are super comfy (and expensive, but well worth it since they will last forever.) When asked if they would shrink, the guy said ""probably not. If they do, bring them back and we will send them to the manufacturer."" I also got a preview and intro to the tazers and protection equipment they carry, cheap to expensive, and some general info about home safety and gun specifics. Both guys were great, and I would feel good buying anything from them. They know their stuff, and they didn't hesitate to stay well past closing time until my purchase was done. more

So I was looking for a good gun store in San Diego and I found this place. After reading the Yelp reviews it made be a little hesitant to go, but I went anyways. Yes the people behind the counter do give you a stare but you have to realize that these people own a gun store ( a lot of guns and a lot of money) and they are just being careful who walks in to their store. Anyways I purchased my shotgun for home defense there. The guys new exactly what they were talking about and I liked that. They made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place and yes I will be going back to buy more guns. more

The rest of the staff seemed to be knowledgable and on top of things as well.
