the best place to take any animal 1/7/2011

I am sitting here reading these reviews and i must say, some people just want to talk junk. I am a long time guest of burlington animal hospital and they are wonderful people. I had to put my dog down last year at 7 years old for a broke back. They allowed us to be with him until his last breath. They even made an ornament of his paw print for us to always have. The whole staff even sent us a card, not just any card but one everyone actually wrote in for us to express their love for us and our lost. Even now I have a puppy fighting parvo, took him in there with no money being a single mother as i am, and they still treating him working with me so we can give this puppy a chance. They are a wonderful place and i would go no other place. Some people get upset at their lost of a loved one, but dont blame the vet at the chance of fate of an animal. Whether my puppy lives or dies, i know that they have done everything they can. So now we play waiting game and im gonna keep praying my puppy more

Lil Dixie Bell 12/18/2010

About 10 years ago Dr. Harris helped me with my 5 year old Sheltie named Dixie. She had been hit by a car and broken her plelix and damaged her reproducive organs. I had her at reidsville vet for the cond. and they told me to put her down. I just could not do it, i was only 12 at the time. So me and my mom went to Dr.Harris and told us just to take her home and let her recover, we made many check ups, but she is healthy as ever at 15 years old and runs my horses all the time. I'm greatful to BAH and Dr.Harris for her. I have taken all of my animals there over the past years even my pet rabbit, Cotton, whom just went to heaven. more

Onyx 9/12/2010

Yesterday was probably one of the worst days of my life. I was forced to put my 10 year old Rotti to sleep. The staff and Dr. Harris at BAH were just simply wonderful. They answered all my questions and showed so much compassion to my husband, cousin and me. They allowed me to stay with Onyx until he took his last breath, which meant so much. They were even willing to give me some extra time with him after he passed to say goodbye. The doctors were so helpful on the phone when I called so many times in the last few days and made me feel like Onyx was their only concern. I would highly recommend anyone to take their family pet there for treatment. Dr. Harris was straight with me and did not try to sugar coat things, which I apprreciated. Thank you so much for making this difficult situation alittle more bearable. more

don't trust everything you hear from last person 4/5/2010

I must comment on the last entry I just had the displeasure to read-I had a great experience with my Dachshund that had an upset stomach due to just moving to the area and they treated me very kindly and gave my pet the proper attention and medication to make her feel better and only did testing that was necessary to make sure nothing more serious was wrong with her. I don't understand why this lady didn't trust the doctor but she should have gone to another vet for help for her pet instead of using unproven treatments that could have been dangerous or toxic to her pet. I do not want people reading her review to think you should take treatment into your own hands without first consulting with a known expert in the field. If her pet ate paint-maybe the cat should also be checked for lead poisoning-as that is a common issue with people too. Home remedies can be dangerous to cats-esp. aspirin and other pain meds so please don't accept her review-I had a great experience there. more

Pres-Schooler vet and Burlington's joke 3/9/2010

A pre-schooler is smarter then the vet there, my cat suddenly started having severe hiccups that soon turned into shakes, moaning and wheezing, it was so painful to watch, he was also swelled. The vet at BAH scanned him (she never examins the animals she always starts with a scan or a blood work that she still won't be able to read correctly) she came back with the scans telling me in a nonchalent tone that "she sees nothing remarkable" and gave the cat anti-biotics, that night the cat got even sicker i thought he was going to expire any second. Out of despair I tried to help him myself. From his breath, the swelling and other symptoms i determined that it was poison, a piece of dry paint that he swallowed. I gave him a high doze of turmeric in milk to wash his liver, blood and stomach also a cardamon (infusion) for the pain ..he felt better, went to the bathroom, Vomited burbed and farted a storm and ate on his own the next day after a long night of deep sleep. I am glad i didnt more

Great Vet: I am a Wake County Resident who brings their dog here 1/27/2010

I; too, need to address some of the negative comments left about Burlington Animal Hopital. First I drive from Wake County to see this vet mainly because they are SO much cheaper than Wake Co vets so the comments about them being expensive is laughable. These guys have never been rude or disrepectful to me in anyway. I don't expect to be able to go in the back where tests and operations occur - I can't go into the working areas in a hospital for humans why would I expect different here? Again I have never seen or heard anything that would make me think that this veterinarian office is rude or bad in anyway I would not bring my animals to them (driving 60 miles one way) if I thought differently. more

Burlington Animal Hospital is WONDERFUL 9/11/2009

Burlington Animal Hospital is the best animal hospital out there. I have been going to them for years. I have to reply to some of the complaints on here, because I know the Doctors personally and the hospital regulations so some of the complaints are misleading. For the dog cropping remark...Dr. Brown is the only one who crops ears. When he sold the hospital to Dr. Marklin, a lot of things changed including prices. So you probably were charged a lot less back in the day when he owned it, but he had never went up on prices. When he sold the hospital, Dr. Marklin had to raise prices to be able to afford the place. I mean, Dr. Brown was still charging 1970's prices because he could afford to...You know the man is loaded... As far as treating your animal like working on a car without calling you, well, they are a hospital and it's their job to make sure your pet is well cared for. If your pet had blood in its stool, that's not something to be ignored. If you cared for your pet, then more

I RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL GREATLY THEY ARE WONDERFUL! 1/13/2009

This Animal Hospital is wonderful! The staff is so helpful and very friendly. If you have any questions or concerns they will be sure to answer in great detail so you understand. The lobby is so nice and comfortable, not to mention plenty of things to read and watch t.v while you wait! Your pets will get the up most treatment and respect, and the doctors are so great with them! They will try their hardest to make the pets feel at ease, but of course it will not be the same as home because you can not expect the pet to be used to all the other animals and different atmosphere, but they can cuddle up in their blanket that each and every one of them gets.. and they are always supplied with water, and feed when time!! I felt so welcome there and many smiles were passed along! When i got my pet back he seemed happy and pleasant not nervous and scared as he was with my old hospitals! more

Rip off and they "treat your pet like a pet....not like family" as their ad 8/23/2008

My experience was not the best and I will never take my boy back. First, when he was going to the back, the girl attempted to drag him, until they noticed my facial expression, then suggested I lead him to the door. Next, I brought his personal blanket and pillow and favorite toy and snacks, since I would b gone 4 a week. His blanket came back hairless and as clean as when I dropped it off (my boy sheds when he is nervous), and he had the same amount of treats I left for him. Next, they charge for everything! Like mechanics who do work without consulting u on price first... When I went to pick him up, they said he had bloody stool from being nervous..he is a mutt when he is nervous he curls up in a corner. They tested him 4 everything and even charge for giving medicine on top of the price of it. more

Burlington Animal Hospital 8/22/2008

I recently bought a Pitt Bull puppy and wanted to take him to get his ears cropped. I knew that Burlington Animal hospital did this because they did my great dane's ears (very good job) . Well, when I call in to get all the information about the prices, when to take him and how many tapping I get (since it has been a while since my great dane's ears), they tell me to hold and check my charts from when I came in and then tell me its going to be $400.00 to crop his ears. They based this price on my great dane. This is fine except I called about two months ago for my other pitt and they told me it was only $250.00 (since their ears are so short). I explained this to the lady and she got all defensive and stated that I was calling in only to check prices and that I was having mulitple people calling in and checking prices also. She was extremely rude and disrespectful. Im not one to haggle prices, I believe that you went to school for such a long period that you should be able to char more

Great pet hospital 12/9/2007

My Dachshund recently was seriously ill and the doctors at the Burlington Animal Hospital exceeded my expectations on service! They showed a true love for my pet and gave her the best medicine available to make her feel better. They even gave her pain medication so she wouldn't hurt while she was feeling better. They have a lovely facility and a very caring staff!\r I would strongly recommend this hospital for your pet's needs-all you have to do is ask them and they will do their best to help you and your pet. more

Only one complaint..... 7/13/2007

You can tell that the people here really care about animals. When a cute dog comes in, everyone on the staff comes out ans says hello (if they have time) and make the pet and owner feel really welcome. My only complaint about this place is that the working area is off-limits to owners. Someone comes to take your pet to the back, and you have to wait in the lobby. That's just weird to me. What are they hiding? are they actually giving the pets the shots that you brought him in for? How do you know? If they would just change this policy, and allow owners to come back into the working area with their pets, it would be a five-star facility. more

Burlington Animal Hospital 10/25/2005

If your pet has an issue, you might want to call Bulington Animal Hospital. They can treat pets for sickness and injuries. They also have preventative/routine care. If your pet needs grooming they can do that too. Sometimes the veterinarians seem a little aggresive with the pets, so if you're squeamish about those kinds of things then you might want to go somewhere else. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same as any other vet. more

great animal service 10/12/2005

great service for all your animals. this place has a great lobby, this place is large with a greeat animal painting on the wall behind the info desk, with the tiled floors and plenty of seating while waiting for the staff or doctors to see your pet. the lobbyb has a nice selection of vet only food, treats and animal accessories. plenty of parking and the warm friendly attitude of employees makes you want to come back here. the staff is quick and friendly, not to mention knowledgable. nicely located behind super kmart. PROS: staff CONS: price, but worth it more

Burlington Animal Hospital 9/26/2005

Burlington Animal Hospital offers many services for your beloved pet. They offer Kennels/pet boarding, washing and grooming, and care and treatment for your pet. The prices are affordable here, and the operational hours are broad enough to be convenient for those with unique schedules. The hospital will send out reminders to you so that you don't forget fido's shots. However, the veterinarian seems to be a bit rough with the pets and I would not recommend them to someone that cannot handle such a sight. more
