Going to Delray on vacation so I called to inquire about Brule Bistro. I was put on hold for over 5 minutes. I had one question. They must be too busy so my money is going somewhaere else. I wonder if they bother to read their reviews? more

I was looking for a nice little place to take my wife for dinner before she left on vacation and stumbled (I did some internet surfing) upon Brule Bistro. Service was very friendly and attentive from the start. We ordered a cauliflower fritata and a salmon/goat cheese flat bread as an app, flavorful, nice starter. Decided to split an entree to save space for dessert. One of the specials they were running that night was seared scallops on a bed of soba topped with pork belly. Very Good! The chef really brought this together really well, we were both impressed. Dessert was freshly baked chocolate chips cookies and ice cream, nice way to wrap up the meal. It is so nice to find a restaurant that takes the time and care to serve their customers amazing dishes. We will be back +++ more

My husband and I went for here because it was recommended by a employee at starbucks. We were so glad to follow his recommendation. The place is off the busy path of Atlantic but was still full of customers. The food was excellent, a fusion of french/american. We had the arugula salad that had a great balance of flavors. The eggplant cannaloni was one of the highlights, it was filled with cheese. I believe it was goat cheese. Then the proscuttio flat bread with a trio of chesse, again perfect balance. Main course was the flat iron steak, cooked perfectly, it was more tender than any filet mignon I have ever had. Last course was a walnut chocolate tart with chocolate sea salt carmel gelato. So happy to have room for dessert. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food. more

I have been telling chef Suzanne for years that she produces the best food I have ever experienced. I have not been to Brule' for a while unfortunately, but after driving with my friend Marc from Lake Worth to Lauderdale and back and not getting at all excited about any dining prospects, I finally and thankfully realized that we should stop at Brule. Marc had never been and was more in the mood for very large portions of mediocre food rather than the good sized and fulfilling portions of Brule. However, he quickly was ooo-ing and aaa-ing at the incredible tastes and quality of the food. We started with a salmon/arugala/goat chz. flat bread, incredible, then the perfect gazpacho, which wasn't on the dinner menu but which they graciously rustled up. Then, Marc had the beef canneloni and I had the crab cake...once we got past the blazingly gorgeous presentation, the tastes were amazing! The breads that accompanied our meal, with the oilve oil/balsamic reduction for dipping, had us both sounding like the soundtrack to a porn film..lol..it was that delicious. Marc is one picky eater, and he is STILL waxing rapturous over our meal. (In fact, he just called me at 6:30 a.m. to tell me AGAIN how much he loved it.) The waiter (Trey..adorable..) and staff couldn't have been more gracious, and Suzanne was her usual gracious, attentive self. Listen, I have owned and operated 2 restaurants down here, and the pressures are such that it is IMPOSSIBLE to always be 100% "on" and gracious, and I'm SURE there are still certain folks who think I am the biggest ass of all time. However, I have never seen anything but the upmost professionalism, attentiveness, and friendliness from Suzanne and staff. I have told her on more than 1 occasion that if I could afford to eat out every day, I would look no further than her place, you cannot beat perfection. SPEAKING of "affordability", we had the appetizer flat bread, gazpacho, 2 meals, and finished it all up with incredible warm choc. chip cookies, and the bill was $58.00! (We admittedly had no wine/drinks,... next time!!) I have eaten there maybe 20 times , had everything from salads, soups, meals, etc..and they have all been of the upmost quality. I am now a private cook in Palm Beach, and I only WISH I could produce even 50% of the time what her kitchen produces. I am wary to bring anyone to a restaurant where I have been but they haven't, it seems every time I do that, it was not the experience I remembered. Such is not the case with "Brule", I have brought at least 3 guests there, and they were all generous in the praise of each and every item experienced. If you want to experience world class food in a charming casual atmosphere, GO to BRULE! more

If you are new in town and looking for a great place to eat, may we suggest "Brule Bistro" located on N.E.2nd Ave., Delray Beach. While checking out our new neighborhood we came upon a unique place called Brule Bistro. Liked the feel of the restaurant as soon as we stepped in, warm greetings by smiling happy faces, wonderful aromas greeted us too. Before we knew it we were seated, checked out the menu and was hooked. Ordered the Baby Lamb Rack, my all time favorite and my husband ordered one of the daily specials Halibut. We loved the presentation, but more importantly we so enjoyed the flavors in each of our dinners. So tender was my lamb (and I'm so picky on lamb) it was combined with delicate vegetables and a wonderful tasting lamb sauce bursting with flavor. As I'm writing this I find my mouth watering just remembering how good it all was. Couldn't tell you how my husband's Halibut was, since he didn't even offer me a taste, but would venture to bet he loved it since he almost licked his plate clean. You can bet your bottom dollar we'll be back and soon. I love Delray Beach and my new found "Brule Bistro". more

4 of us did not like the appetizers.\r we never said anything to our waiter.\r the chef owner came over and very \r pompously told us every one else liked\r the food and that we should leave before\r we had a chance to order any entrees.\r once again we never complained --we \r just did not eat\r we highly recommend everyone not to go there and take the chance of being insulted and treated like children\r i have never experienced anything like this in my entire life more

Price? That last person that complained about price should eat at McDonalds…I've been frequenting Brule for 2 years since I moved to Delray, and yes they have changed recently, but WOW sooo much better. The quality of the food is amazing. Everything there is hand made, you can watch the process in the open kitchen. You can see the chefs make everything from scratch; the pasta, the bread, all the dressings... I've actually seen them making their own stocks…do have any idea how time consuming it is to make stocks, unheard of in Florida. The quality and care and integrity really shows. My family had owned many restaurants in California, and trust me I know what a privilege it is to have Brule in my neighborhood. And as far as price, you're insane, I can't believe how affordable everything is…I actually think it's under priced…don't even get me going on their incredible wine list. Do your self a favor just go get a slice of pizza for 2 bucks somewhere and leave that amazing bistro to rest of us who have a clue. more

The restaurant has been a favorite of mine since opening. I agree with the last commenter that they should not have changed the food offerings. I ordered a caeser salad and left hungry. I know the kitchen wants to maintain fresh ingredients, but at least offer two sizes of salads. I was disappoiinted and would not return in the near future. Prices out of line also. I miss the take out option. more

I read a negative review about the recent changes here and thought I'd try myself~South Florida Food and Wine should come back and I think they'd agree this cute find isn't so cute anymore. Overpriced, impersonal and what happened? I've eaten here 5 times but haven't been since the remodeling. Yes, it's beautiful. Seems the menue and prices were remodeled too...sad. It really lost it's charm. Service was great at 9pm. Apps: Ceviche was tiny, unusual and yummy. Kobe scallps: 2 for $13.00?? C'mon...The pork loin was terrific, and the new version of flank steak a thicker but smaller cut. The Bouillibaisse with 3 shrimp, a few shrunken (not PEI) mussles and ONE scallop was tasty but where was the seafood??? The best thing~the brussles au' Gratin a $10.00 side dish. The BEST chocolate cookie they had (I'd usually get at least 6 to go) gone! Yes, the quality of some ingredients and flavors were still there but so overriced ~I won't be back. more

I used to love this place I would always recommend it to my clients knowing they would enjoy the food/staff and experience, but lately my clients feedback has been dif than in the past, so today I got takeout thinking I'll just refresh my memory! fist they told me it would take 20 min to make a turkey sandwich then when I got there the bartender was very snotty( Linda) and would not stop telling me how long it was going to take! I just wanted her to shut up with her snotty attitude! Thankfully the waiter saw me and told me they were making it and it would only be a few more min! All the. While not so lovely Linda kept her comments flowing! Ugh sucks when a great thing goes bad! Guess I'll look for next new place that cares if the customer comes back! By the looks if it they have invested alot into the place in the last year you think they would keep goid service so the costomers that supported them in the beginning will continue to support in the future! Unfortunately looks line it's gunna NE another seasonal or bust place:( more

Dont even bother going to anywhere else in Delray. If you are coming to visit, please take my word for it you will not be disapointed. Great service, not overpriced, and the food is some of the best in Florida. more

This place never fails me for a delicious gourmet treat. Everyone I have ever brought there loved it and some turned it into a regular favorite place. This place will satisfy the picky gourmet with fine wine taste, but let you really without it without the big bill They also have a great wine store also and are on hand to make recommendations. This place is a favorite for locals. Their original salad dressings are the best around. more

Stay away from Brule. The portions keep getting smaller while the prices keep getting larger. The chef/owner is very, very rude to the customers. Most of the wait staff are clueless. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 11/12/2010

I was shocked by how good a value this place was! Great prices aren't a thing I get to write about very often in South Florida. Excellent lamb chops with pine nuts and delectable sauce. Perfect flank steak and fabulous cheese course. I really wish more places did cheese plates like they offer here. Appetizer, main course and dessert for two for $60! more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 9/14/2010

Gosh, where to begin. Everything prepared by third parties (cheese, bread, wine, etc.) is indeed good. Things prepared here are OK to terrible. To start, the wait staff literally circled our table clearly eager to get us to move on -- it was so bad as to be noticeable. Additionally, our waiter, after the drink stage (BTW, no bar -- ugh), never asked us what we wanted, we had to proactively solicit him to get food. Then the food. The Kobe flank steak tastes like a well cooked flank steak -- in other words good, as it should for the price, but nothing to write home over and certainly not melting in anyone's mouth. My veal scallopine on gnocci was a tiny portion of two soggy, oily, rubbery thin pieces of breaded fried veal, deluged with garlic as to be inedible on what was clearly store bought gnocci with some tomato paste for $26. Considering the price and how easy it is to make gnocci, and the rest of this dish, it was inexcusable. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he didn't say a word -- no apology, no offer of something else, nothing. He refused to list the deserts when asked and we were instructed to get up and go look inside. We finished off with white chocolate "mousse" which was soup in a white chocolate bowl. Again, I make mousse, it ain't tough. This was my birthday and honestly the experience could not have been worse. I fed the entre to my dogs when I got home. more
