Editorial review from Citysearch 5/30/2013

Two years ago I had the good fortune to get the BEST pair of glasses I have ever had from Bridgemill Eye Care (yay!). Today I returned for my next pair. Dr. Covington was great and spent a lot of time with me. She answered questions that I hadn't even thought of. Amazing. Paula understands how picky I am about my frames, and after making some good suggestions, allowed me to browse and browse and browse some more without pressuring me in the least. I really feel well taken care of in this place. Their expertise and support has not gone unnoticed. more

A Redeemable Customer Experience 4/26/2012

After having the wrong contact subscription given to me without any compensation initially due to Bridgemill Eye Care's mistake, and with the passing of a couple weeks after communicating the issue back through multiple windows, I recently received a new 6 months supply of contacts along with an extra right eye trial contact free of charge to compensate for the error. Although the initial lack of customer concern on giving someone something that is incorrectly sized, to which they are going to put on top of their eye, is quite nerving, this act of compensation on their part puts their business in a competitive position to retain future customers if similar mistakes are to be made, as they now do with having a much greater chance of retaining me with this respectable act. more

Worst customer service I've had in a long long time 3/25/2012

Do not get your glasses here! I recently retired and moved here from Florida, where I've been getting eye exams and glasses from the same friendly office for the past 5 years. I expected a similar experience from Bridgemill Eye Care on Sixes Road, but I was sorely disappointed. Dr. Furey gave me a very thorough exam, for which I paid a $35 co-pay. Then I was ushered into the frames on display and became a little worried when I saw the price tags. Ms. Paula Brock wrote me up for a pair of designer frames, which would cost me $400! She did not call to verify my insurance coverage, and she did not offer me a simpler, less expensive frame. To say that she was a little pushy is an understatement. As I left the office that Friday I asked the front desk staff to please call and verify my insurance coverage on frames and lens. They promised to call on Monday, but by Thursday I still had heard nothing. Only after I sent email to their website to complain did Ms. Brock call me to offer a syrupy apology, but she also chided me with a reminder that it is not her responsibility to verify insurance. more

WATCH OUT-Don't Let the Dr Give You a Prescription!! 10/6/2011

It's been a couple of years since I had an eye exam and I didn't go back b/c of extra charges, so I thought that another local provider would be better. I had my first visit at this practice late Sept 2011. The Dr was very thorough (in fact, I had never had such a thorough exam--I was very impressed) he even noticed that I had seasonal allergies b/c I had small bumps inside my lower eyelid, but I advised him that my eyes were never itchy or affected by the allergies; however, the eyeglass lady was a little pushy when it came time for me to select glasses. The markup on the glasses was EXTREME. I had started to contemplate just getting my prescription and going to Costco, when the eyeglass lady opened up some other drawers of more reasonably priced glasses. I did end up purchasing them there (since my old glasses were literally broken). Due to the fact that this was such a thorough exam, I felt that it would be a good place to take my oldest daughter to have her 1st eye exam. (BTW, my appt was at 3:20 and I didn't leave until 5:30!!!) So, I'm out the door w/ paying for my $10 vision fee plus the small overage from the purchase of my glasses--satisfied customer. more

My second bad experience 9/15/2011

I went to Bridgemill eye care first a few months ago don't remember exactly when. And I went there because I had been having trouble seeing distances while driving and even when not driving. Long story from the start the doctor didn't listen to me and (even though wrote them down) dismissed all the problems I was having short doctor said I was near sided and only gave me mild prescription for reading glasses. I knew that wasn't what I needed. Luckily insurance covered it so didn't waste a whole lot of money. But I went to go get my eyes checked again at Pearle Vision where I got a prescription for being near sided just like I thought and the previous doctor said. But insurance didn't cover that visit so I had to pay out of pocket to get a correct diagnosis. I believe in second chances so I decided to go there yesterday because I remembered there were a few frames there that I liked. Wow what a waste of gas and a waste of time. I left there with no glasses. They pulled up my pervious review and defended themselves (which I totally understand I would do the same) And the office manager made it seem like if I sat down with her to talk and explain what I felt with my last visit and why I wrote the review that she would be willing to help me. But obviously the doctor gets her training from the office manager because she did exactly what the doctor did dismissed everything I said and didn't listen to me. I work in retail where the attitude is ""The customer is always right"" apparently not in the optics field. So I will not be recommending to friends or family. And I will never go there again. My review having 1 star is generous with how bad both experiences were. more

Never, EVER visit this office...TERRIBLE customer service! 6/16/2011

All I wanted was a copy of my eye glasses prescription! I have moved out of state, but I only get one eye doctor visit per year on my insurance, so I relied on Bridgemill Eye Care to supply my prescription so I could purchase a new pair of glasses. The office staff could not be bothered to find an economical and timely way to get my prescription to me. I was lied to over the phone and treated as an inconvenience. When mailing and faxing were finally discussed, I was told that these are the only two ways the prescription could be sent. Despite supplying both my physical address and a fax number, the office staff did not send the prescription in any of the ways they said they would. When I called to ask about it a week after my first request, I was bullied, lied to, and given the run around while they tried to cover up the fact that they had been so unprofessional. When I finally got to speak with the actual doctor, she apologized so much it felt pathetic...but she did nothing to try to make the situation right. I don't know if the office is failing and that is why the office staff behaves in an ugly manner, but regardless of the reasons, you do NOT want to be treated this way. They are nice to you, I will say, when you are giving them money. I have discovered that their up-charge on the purchase of frames and lenses is extreme. If you do go see this doctor, definitely shop your purchase around. You will save hundreds of dollars. more

Poor service, Does not care about patients 11/9/2009

This practice was not willing to go above and beyond to help me out when I was in a bind needing 1 replacement contact because it was damaged. Instead the office manager just told me what I should have been doing and that I should have had a backup pair or backup glasses. I would not recommend this practice to anyone and would highly discourage anyone. DO NOT GO TO BRIDGEMILL EYECARE. Pros: Nothing Cons: Not willing to go above and beyond for patients more

A positive experience 4/6/2009

Today I had my firt visit to Bridgemill Eye Care and was very pleased with the whole experience. My optometrist was very friendly and professional as was the staff. I received my prescription with no hassle nor was I hounded to purchase eyeglasses from them. I read these reviews before I went today and presented this information after I had received services and found out that some of the staff had been replaced. If you had a bad experience with this company before, give it another shot- I was pleasantly suprised with the quality of service and atmosphere. Pros: Customer-oriented professional atmosphere more

Not your usual or friendly eyecare facility 9/17/2007

The bottom line is the eye exam was thorough, they did not disclose that they were charging our medical insurance nor that this was anything more than a standard eye exam, and sent us away with no Rx for glasses which I know that I need. I am not blind by any means but need glasses for an astigmatism, which causes my headaches. The secretary was also very unfriendly and we felt very uncomfortable in the waiting room. Pros: Thorough exam Cons: No disclosure of medical procedures or charges, unfriendly office staff, no Rx given more
