Recently ordered the fried chicken & brisket sandwich. Both were delicious, and delivery was quick, despite a torrential downpour.

Let me first say that I’ve never done a review in my life, but I’m heated at the moment and wanted other potential customers to know my experience. I don't know what happened to this place after it burned down... I used to frequent them often, because the food and service was great. My last two experiences have been horrendous and I will NEVER EVER return. The first time my wife and I went in to sit down and eat. We ordered the nacho appetizer (worst nachos I've ever had), which was bought out the same time as our dinner – huge No-No in my dining opinion, having waited tables for 8 years. The girl was young so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. The chicken and ribs were good. About 2 weeks later since the dinner was still enjoyable we decided to skip the actual dining “experience” and order online. BIG MISTAKE. When I arrived I was told my order was never entered. I had to wait an additional 25 minutes (online they say to come pick up 30 minutes after you order) and they told me they were out of corn on the cob. It was June 10th. Corn is in season, but hey things run out, I can live with a substitution. When the food was ready she called me over to the counter and said that I had to pay for the food. I told her that I had paid online with my credit card. She said you can’t pay online. And I explained to her you can and I had entered my credit card information. Hungry and not looking to argue with more incompetent young girls I decided to just give her my card. I decided against paying cash, because I knew I was going to get double charged and figured I may need to save my receipt for proof. She then pushed my bag of food over to me and when I picked it up, it was leaking all over the place. Incompetence at its finest here folks. Got home and again the chicken was very good, but the sides were terrible. The baked beans weren’t cooked, they were hard and raw and the collard greens were awful and ice cold. As I expected the next day I was charged again for my meal. I called them and within a day I was reimbursed. I can forgive a new online system and they did give me my money back. But then a week later I was charged a third time through another company called Silver Oaks catering which is affiliated with Bourbon BBQ. This time I asked to speak with a manager. He said his name is Tom and to call him if I ever have a problem. I’m assuming he’s the owner. He’s pretty much the most useless person at this establishment and it explains a lot about the rabid incompetence they serve at Bourbon BBQ. He told me was going to take care of this immediately. Not so. He called me back later that day clueless saying he didn’t think I was charged again. I then had to explain the situation again to him saying I wasn’t charged through Bourbon BBQ this time that I was charged through Silver Oaks catering. He said he’d look into it. No return phone call this time. No money back. And when I called again I got the feeling the young girl was instructed to tell me he wasn’t available. So now I’ve disputed the charge with my credit card company. Totally unprofessional. Shouldn’t have to go that far with a “reputable business”. I just wanted to warn people – don’t expect a great experience and definitely do not order online. It’s a shame because they did have something good going on there once... Obviously the fire cost them more than just the building. Diner beware. If one person doesn't go because of my review I'll be satisfied. more

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! 11/25/2011

A one time place for good food has become a horrid dining experience. Although the greeter was friendly and accommodating for my dinner last evening, the rest of the experience fell far short, especially based on price. I ordered the poppers appetizer and the fish. The supposed jalepeno peppers had no heat and the cheese inside literally exploded when I bit into the popper. As for the fish, the fried outer portion was so greasy and absorbed into the coating, making it soggy rather than crispy. As well, it was over done so the fish was mealy. I could not finish anything, not even the salad I ordered as the tomatoes in the salad were going off. At the end of the meal, I decided to order desert and coffee. The banana pudding was fine, but the coffee was cold. I decided to order a second order of coffee just to see if that would be cold as well; it was. I do not mind paying more money for edible food, but I resent having to pay for inedible crap. As an aside, there was not a person sitting around me at other tables who were not complaining about something. Most didn't even like the fries. Who screws up potato fries? Also, many, many plates were left uneaten and customers were not leaving with doggie bags. This speaks volumes. more

Bad BBQ Experience 11/6/2008

My wife and I ate here last weekend for the first time and most likely the last time. We didnt hear great things about the restaurant to begin with, but we decided to give it a shot since we are from Texas and really love ""Good Q."" I noticed when we were waiting in line that there was very little organization in the place and the staff seemed very flustered, even though it was not too busy. There didnt seem to be anyone there who was actually managing or supervising the place. We finally ordered this thing called the garbage plate (not the most appealing name) after standing in line for quite a while. Then we had to clean off a dirty table to sit at since no one who worked there seemed to concerned about having clean tables. The food finally came out about 25 minutes later. We really hoped that the wait would be worth it, not so much. The ribs were decent but the brisket and pork were both dry and flavorless, and the sausage was burnt. The sides (mac/chz,slaw) were very generic and bland, 2 stars is really pushing it for this place! \r Overall: not recommended. Pros: Parking, music, byo Cons: Food, service, cleanliness more

Great Job! 10/8/2008

I felt intrigued to try out the restaurant, because I typically pass it on my way home from work. It was this past Sunday around 1 pm when myself and 2 of my friends decided to pay a visit. We walk in and were delighted to see the Giants game on the TV (GO GIANTS). We ordered a garbage plate for the three of us, we also got potato salad, cole slaw, onion rings, fries and collard greens (they also made a great lunch for monday). The ribs were great, spicy how I like them, they fell off the bone. The pulled pork was nice and juicy really moist! the sausage was good as well as the brisket. \r Overall it was a great experience, it was a great family environment, and the waitstaff kept checking on us and refilling our drinks, the TV was also awesome...\r Im planning a visit next Monday night for the next Giants game!\r Kudo! Pros: ambience Cons: a little empty more
